Alright, I'm building a 9th Level Ultimate Magus for a tournament in my game, I'm the DM so I have pretty much full control of him, I want him to be difficult for my party, but his allies are very weak so he shouldn't be able to pull off a full destruction of the entire tournament, especially by the time the party should get to him he should be pretty low on spells.

Here's what I have so far.
Ultimate Magus- Human.
Wizard 4, Sorcerer 1, Ultimate Magus 4.
Stats will be 36 Point buy (The players have a far more generous point buy than this.)

Few minor houserules at this point that matter, I use pathfinder feat progession, and ability scores advance +1 every 4 levels as normal, but at 8 and 16, -all- ability scores advance +1, then you choose an ability score to advance an additional one as normal rulings. So one ability score advances +2, the rest +1.

HP is done half rounded up after first level.

So he has 3 feats as a wizard, one of which has to be a metamagic spell, but not sure what yet.

1 feat as a sorcerer (5th level) Which will be practiced spellcaster.

And two feats as an Ultimate magus which have also not been decided.

Final tallies is he casts as a 7th level wizard with caster level 9, and casts as a 4th level sorcerer with caster level 10.

Few minor quibbles- Books need to be restricted to eberron campaign only, core, unearthed arcana if it's not considered core (No flaws however) and Complete Mage, Arcane, Warrior. PHB2 if I can find it. Any other Complete is based on once I get it, so consider them off limits unless you have a really powerful option from that, and other options as well, need more than one to convince me to change my buying schedule.

So we have 5 feats to pick, and his spells, which if I have them written down correctly, he gets 8 1st level wizard, 4 2nd level wizard, 4 3rd level wizard, 2 4th level wizard, 6 0 level sorcerer, 3 1st level sorcer, 1 2nd level sorcerer, and 1 1st and 2nd additional from his wizard passed over to his sorcerer side, all known.

Nerveskitter is required, master specialist could be an option if he can get into it, haven't set his specialization yet.

Total spells to cast are 4 0 wizard, 6 1st W, 4 2nd W, 3 3rd W, 2 4th W, 6 0 Sorcerer, 7 1st S, 4 2nd S.

Think that's everything I have, let the building commence!

Since I couldn't get any help on here with this, I went forward on my own. Any critiques or constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Ultimate Magus, Human, Lawful Good.

Wizard 2, Sorcerer 1, Wizard 2, Ultimate Magus 4.

Stats: 20 Int, 14 Cha, 15 Con, 15 Dex, 11 Str, 13 Wis.

Alternate Class Features: Fighter Bonus Feats for Wizard
Metamagic Specialist for Sorcerer
Generalist Spellcaster
No Alternate Class Feature for Familiar from Wizard yet.

Feats:
Human: Quicken Spell
1st: Empower Spell
Fighter Bonus: Improved Initiative
3rd: Practiced Spellcaster (Sorcerer)
5th: Versatile Spellcaster
7th: Spell Mastery
9th: Uncanny Forethought.

Features: Arcane Spellpower +2, Augmented Casting, Metamagic Specialist as Sorcerer.

Sorcerer Spells known: Nerve Skitter, Magic Missle, True Strike, Wings of Cover. *Scorching Ray, *Ray of Enfeeblement.

* Spells are known through wizard side and Expanded Spell Knowledge.

Wizard Spells Known: Color Spray, Silent Image, Grease, Charm Person, Ray of Enfeeblement, Power Word: Pain, Shield, Mage Armor, Protection from Evil, Unseen Servant
Glitter Dust, Invisibility, See Invisibility, Create Magic Tattoo, Ray of Stupidity, Scorching Ray
Dispel Magic, Fly, Greater Mage Armor, Ray of Exhaustion, Protection from Energy,
Dimension Door, Evard's Black Tentacles, Enervation, Orb of Fire.

Several of his tricks are to give the most spontaneous casting available, his caster levels are 10 as sorcerer, and 9 as wizard, but his sorcerer has the lower casting ability, which is why he has a lot of no save abilities on that side.

He has 12,000 Wealth, so his main items are:

Aureon Spellshard (6250)
Pearl of Power 1st (1000)
Ring of Counterspells (4000) (Dispel Magic stored in it)

5 Spell Component Pouches
1 Spell Book
Belt Pouch with anti-toxin, other items he might need for the tournament.

Hope I can get some comments this time.

If you're going to be a generalist, there's no reason not to be a Domain Wizard. It's strictly better--you only give up the ability to specialize.

Yeah, I just found about Domain Wizard. I've picked Transmutation Domain as the domain for him.
