I'm going to be trying out pathfinder at a LGS soon and I would like to try and convert an old 3.5 character build into pathfinder. From what I gather it will be PF only (although I am unable to talk to the DM right now) and we will be starting with Rise of the Runelords at level 1.

The character is a LN Human Cloistered Cleric 10/Church Inquisitor 10 of St Cuthbert with the Knowledge, Protection, and Inquisition domains. He uses a combination of Knowledge Devotion and Divine Defiance to defeat enemy arcanists and their evil servants.

We only got to level 14, but this was my planned build:

1: Extend Spell, Knowledge Devotion(domain), Power Attack, Extra Turning (flaw)
3: Divine Defiance
6: Travel Devotion
9: Extra Turning
12: Quicken Spell
15: Persistent Spell
18: Extra Turning

So, I really don't know where to begin with the PF build. What I would really like is to be able to use the CI PrC, which I will bring up when we start. However, assuming it is vetoed, I want to have a backup plan.

What I would really like to get out of this character is:

Something like Divine Defiance, to disrupt enemy casters without wasting my turn readying an action.
Mental protections against spells, similar to the Church Inquisitor.
Combat bonuses against evil enemies (previously filled by Knowledge Devotion)

Sounds like you want an http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/inquisitor.

Not quite as full-casty, but Justice/Destruction Judgements give you the whacky, and protection/purity protect you from spells.

To my knowledge the only way to get action economy neutral counterspelling in pathfinder is with the Abjurer Wizard specialistion.

There are other ways - the Arcanist can counter as an immediate via exploits, the Spell Warrior Skald can do it with his song, and the Magician Bard can do it if he has been performing long enough for instance.

I'm not aware of any divine ways in PF-only though.

That class does look interesting. Kind of like a Cleric/Rogue hybrid. Although I would prefer to play a full caster, this is a great backup plan. Thank you for pointing that out.

Do any of these options work as a 1-level dip?
