Guidance and Resistance Cantrips and Ability Checks?

I am helping a 5th level Cleric pick her spells. I am under the impression that Guidance also covers what Resistance does. I just want to double check. What all is covered by the ability checks that Guidance helps? Aren't saving throws ability checks?

Oh I think I found the answer. Guidence would apply to skill checks and initaive. But not saving throws.

Correct. Saving throws are not ability checks.
