Is there an alchemical item compendium somewhere with all of the 3e and 3.5 stuff? If not, I think I'll start working on one.

Not a complete list but Shax's Indispensable Haversack (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?148101-3-x-Shax-s-Indispensible-Haversack-%28Equipment-Handbook%29) has most of the useful and cost effective ones. Along with a bunch of cheap and useful magic items.

If you're willing to backport from PF, Paizo has the Alchemy Archive, as well as a laundry list of alchemical goodies (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/goods-and-services/herbs-oils-other-substances) freely avaiable on the PFSRD.

Also, if you're just looking for curious things that an alchemist might be able to make, don't overlook Unearthed Arcana's list of Metamagic Spell Components. They're optional components that can cause metamagic effects on spells, and some of them are listed as being alchemical products (though if memory serves, I don't think a DC is given so you'd have to tell people to talk to their DM about that if you include them in a comprehensive list.)

I've always been a fan of those kinds of things for flavor text value if nothing else. "Alchemically Synthesized Sweat" isn't mysterious in what it is, of course, but the fact that it's apparently capable of producing metamagic effects that normal sweat can't suggests unusual things.

-EDIT-

Looking at it again, it seems that Unearthed Arcana actually *does* list a DC for them, as well as some rules that make them different from standard item crafting systems.

Don't know who created it, but there's a very handy web page here (http://adamsouza.tripod.com/alchemy.html).
