I seem to remember a few years back that I played a dwarf fighter who added his strength as a bonus to his fortitude save but now I can't seem to find anything about that, does anybody out there recall any sort of feat for that?

There doesn't appear to be such a thing, according to Person_Man's excellent X stat to Y bonus thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?125732-3-x-X-stat-to-Y-bonus).

There are generally very few STR to X features because WotC greatly over-valued Strength (as you can see with Half-Orcs and Orcs).

That's how it works in both 4e and Legend if your STR is higher than your CON. Both of those systems also allow the higher of DEX or INT for Ref and the higher of WIS or CHA for Will, which makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. But in 3.5, as others have stated, I don't believe there's a RAW way to add your STR to your Fort.
