Hey everyone! As a fairly new trpg player and DM, I am very interested in character portraits for my various PCs and NPCs, but I suck at drawing. Is there a software for this, or an industry for hiring people? Thanks!

Have you looked at the Dungeons and dreamboats threads? there are a lot of images in them.

Heromachine (http://www.heromachine.com/heromachine-2-5-character-portrait-creator/) makes it pretty easy to whip up some portraits on the fly.

In addition to the many posts here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?350310-Dungeons-and-Dreamboats-VI-Because-Breasts-It-s-not-complex

There are many artists who take commissions on www.deviantart.com

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried out heromachine and have already made one for my primary PC, and I really like some of the art on those threads. Thanks!

Sometimes you can just use character creator of a sufficiently advanced computer game and go with that. Just create the character and take a screen shot from a sufficiently heroic angle.

I've done this a few times and it works just fine for those of us who can't draw their way out of a paperbag but know how their character should look like.
