Who's up for a rousing game of Broken Picture Telephone?

Here's the rules, courtesy the Nedroid guy:



Since a few people have asked, here are the rules for the game called “Broken Picture Telephone,” also known as “Eat Poop, You Cat,” also known as “Draw-o Word-o,” also known in the U.K. as “Crumbs and Whistles,” also known as “Call of Duty 5.”
•You need a relatively big group to play; too few and it won’t go on long enough to get silly. I’d say anywhere between 6 and 12 players is a good number.
•Every player should have a stack of papers (index cards are great, but anything you can draw on works). They should have as many pieces as there are players.
•You begin by drawing a picture on the top sheet of paper. You can also start with sentences if you prefer. You can also decide to follow a group theme if you desire.
•Pass the stack of papers to the next player. Did I mention you should be sitting in a circle? I didn’t, did I. Sorry about that.
•Look at the drawing you received, move that paper to the bottom of the stack, and on the next piece write a description of the drawing you received. You can be as descriptive as you like. Even if you don’t understand part of the drawing, try to describe what it looks like to you.
•Pass the stacks again. Now you should be looking at a sentence. Put that paper on the bottom and draw a picture of that sentence.
•Keep passing and alternating drawing/writing in this manner until each stack reaches its original player. Share the results with the group! Laugh and enjoy life. You’re doing it! You’re living the dream.

As you can see from these examples, I don't care if your medium is MS paint or impressionistic calligraphy, anyone can play! Who's up for it?

The point is not to do one good drawing per week. The point is to sit down and scrawl a picture on an index card in what would be 2-5 minutes IRL. See the example pictures!

You can do a super elaborate one if you want but, like it says, talent optional.

I'm thinking that the game picture handoff is going to be done via PM and we all reveal our chain at the same time at the end.


About how long do you think each round is going to take?

I'm thinking each person has a day to draw the picture before handing it on! If it's a crap picture, that's the point!

If anyone wants to play this with a group off the internet, there is a game called Scribblish which is basically this game. However, the pictures/ sentences aren't passed in a circle, they can skip people and move two to the side, or get scrambled and passed out again. There is also a time limit that adds to the bad drawings.:smallamused:

Okay! Closed, prepped, ready! Everyone clear up some space in your PM folder while we're at it.

The order is:

SO! Eldan would draw a picture and PM it to Madcrafter, and receive a picture from Thanqol, and so on. Send you picture to the person below you on your list every time throughout this process, they are your draw buddy. After you receive a picture, wait until the deadline passes before sending your verbal description. After that deadline passes then you've got 24 hours to draw your picture - so in effect you only need to draw every second day.

Another quick note; don't use reply/forward anything when sending out your PMs. Just the one sentence or the picture, no elaboration, nothing else.

When the process is finished we'll post our own perspectives to this thread and then I'll organise them into proper montages.

The deadline is every 24 hours from when I post this (6pm GMT+10).

DYF is supposed to be like somewhat decent though. These can be 5 minute stickmen or something if you so choose.

Nah, f'real, the deadline is just there to emphasise speed over quality. I don't want to still be doing this in April, I want to get it out of the way and have something cool to laugh at. That said, getting three pictures at the same time is a bit rough and I wouldn't mind you just doing one per day. Do them as fast as possible, but don't burn out or anything!

I passed off three (the fourth was the one Jormengand started, so should stop there) to Cuthalion, so eventually RCgothic should be passing one one more to you once it's done, I think.

No, it's just the end of the round. The extra three that got done before Jormengand dropped out should be absorbed before they reach you, as should all the backed up images.

I'd never drawn ponies before, so I was quote pleased with how my first one came out! For those who are wondering, what I had in mind was:

'Ponies re-enact 'Little Fall of Rain' from Les Miserables'.

Was fun to see what weird direction that went in!
