Monsters hitting other magic only monsters

Can a large monster effect/damage another magic weapon- only monster?

There were rules about this in AD&D at least to allow powerful monsters to effect weaker (magic only) foes, but I can't recall seeing anything specific written in 5e.

I tend to go with a species can always inflict damage to itself.

Beyond that, you will find "immunity" relatively uncommon to rare vs "resistance".

certain monsters are specifically noted as having magical attacks. I would interpret that to mean that only those monsters have said ability.
