Artificer Level Dips?

I have a level 16 straight artificer thats about to level up to 17. Normally I'd just go for artificer 20, but there is a possibility that their won't be any more significant periods of down time for me to craft items. Any suggestions for good dips?

What's your build so far, are you specialized in anything?

Without knowing anything about the build, probably something front-loaded, or that gives a bunch of passive benefits. One of the Tome of Battle classes? Incarnate? Monk2 isn't a bad dip, for spare feats and good saves.
