View Full Version : Orange/Green confusion

I thought that I was the person that did this, but tonight I asked my brother if he ever got the colors orange and green mixed up. He immediately said "All the time!" Its not that I'm colorblind, its just that I mix the name of these colors up most of the time. So now, I have to ask, does anybody else mix up the names of these colors and why. Is it some genetic disorder or something?

No. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone confusing green and orange.

I can't say that I've ever done that before...sounds interesting.

I confuse green and yellow sometimes (rarely) but never orange.

EDIT: Oh, the names? No never.

Sounds like you're color blind. Ever talked about this to a physician?

Did you look at the post? From what I understand, he's not mixing up what they look like, he's mixing up what they're called. Sounds unlike anything I know of...

Sorry. I'm pretty sure I paused for a second to make sure I was using the correct version of the word. Only to do it wrong anyway.

So much for thinking too hard.

Wait how would you confuse these colors? I don't understand how this would happen.

Azrael

Wait how would you reffuse these colors?

"No, I'm sorry Green, I just won't do what you want."

-or-

"Damnit, Orange! I said NO!"

seems pretty straightforward to me.

Do I confuse orange and green?
Only when dealling with disgruntled Irishmen

I'd kill to have a consistent setup man like that.

That's ridiculous! They're colors. They can't be confused, they're just the energy level of EM radiation.

you'd have to be realy sneaky to confuse them; more razzle-dazzle than I've ever seen.

Never got this, orange is a rather ugly colour while most shades of green are beautiful.
However I have something similar with numbers, I sometimes call 5 7 and 7 5 when reading a piece of text with these numbers in. I know what the number actualy is I just say the wrong name occasionly

Orange and Green are easily confused. This is why they should always be separated by White :nods:

Sorry. Green and oragne are hiddiously ugly when next to each other. I think I'd remember.

I used to confuse Spain and France all the time when I was a little kid. But I've never confused Green and Orange.

Not orange and green but as a kid I often messed up gray and brown.

Just because it's slightly on topic, I also mixed up "me" and "You" which became very distressing for the little baby Soniku when I explained very carefully to my grandmother that it was in fact I who wanted to eat that tasty lolly.

So you can visually tell the difference between the colours, but you don't say the correct name? Sounds like some kind of mild dyslexia.

My thoughts exactly. I get my mild dyslexia from my dad, left and right, ketchup and mustard, Yellow and Orange on occasion, they just get blurry and everything gets all backwards, I can't help it...

I mix up words sometimes, but not really any particular words consistantly.

I often mix up names, however I have not mixed up 'orange and green' as of yet

I don't do it with colours, but I do it with other things... Onions and Mushrooms are nothing alike, they taste completely different, have different shapes and are spelled completely differently, but the number of times that I have called onions mushrooms and visa versa is astonishnig, especially as half the time, I don't know if I have got it right.

Well, it looks like at least one other person does this. Anyways, yeah, its odd how it happens. I know they dont look anything alike, but for some reason something about them makes me mix the names up. I dont do it with anything else, just these two very unsimilar colors.

don't start on that one.... the amount of money i've wasted on pizzas that people refused to eat is beyond humourous

You know, this gets even weirder when you look at the title of the thread and realise that "orang" is Indonesian (nearly, maybe more Malaysian) for "person" or "man".

Bob_the_Mighty
2007-04-09, 02:04 PM
Yeah, I kinda missed the 'e' when I was typing the title. But I guess you already saw that.

I know you used to be able to, but I dont think you can anymore. At least, I cant get it to work.

No, I wasn't. Being mean would've been worded entirely differently.

Nope.

((Yes, you can change the title of the thread. In the first post go to edit advanced. That's where it is. Yay for passing on recently acquired knowledge! Whoot!))

Me and a few people in family sometimes use the wrong names when calling someone. For example, I once accidently called the cat by my nephew's name when she was getting in my way. Usually I chalk it up to Freudian slips.

Red/Green colorblindness is fairly prevalent (8-10%) amongst caucasian males, it can cause the confusion of names you are talking about.

I have difficulty with green and blue, especially weird colors like aqua and teal, but also more 'normal' green and blue. If certain shades of blue and green are next to each other, I have to look rather closely to tell the difference.

Its not that I cant tell the difference in the colors. In my head I know exactly which color is which, but I say the wrong one. I have a friend who's colorblind, and from what he says colorblindness is completely different from this.

Yes I confuse orange and green, but it is not colorblindness. Orange looks orange to me and green looks green. However, often i say one while meaning the other. I have no other forms of dyslexia, and this never happens with any other colors with me.

I would like to discuss this further with others that this happens to.

If anyone would like to discuss this with me, you can email me at [email protected]

Thanks.
