Is anyone else having trouble using the instructions for creating balanced encounters from pg. 82 of the DMG?

Any easy tips for calculating encounters with different types of monsters, or perhaps an online calculator for this?

@Envyus: Yeah, I like that one, too. My problem is that they (mistakenly) say that encounters where the adjusted XP value is equal to a threshold is at that difficulty. Following the DMG guidelines, this would technically be one level lower.
