So, the folding boat (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#boatFolding) is an awesome item that really needs more details.

For those familiar with boats, could anyone venture an estimated guess to how fast the folding boat can go, how much weight it can carry, and how much it would weigh (dry weight) in both its "boat" and "ship" forms?

About 1.5 mph rowing and 1-3 mph sailing:

I'd guess 2 mph sailing and call it a day. If you both row and sail for double power, it only provides around a 25% increase in speed due to drag considerations.

In reality I bet it depends how hard the wind is blowing but I think they provide those numbers to determine a good average over days. Likewise you could probably hustle-row. I'm guessing around 4 times the power yielding +50% speed from that, about 2.25 mph. If DMing you might roll for sailing speed, 1d6-1 mph perhaps.

1 mph is roughly 10 feet of speed. Actually slightly less, but whatever.

You should be able to find all necessary data in Arms and Equipment Guide book (pg 52.) or even better Stormwrack book (pg 97.)

I've looked in both of those. The "ship" is the hardest one, I guess the closest equivalent in the "pinnace" in Stormwrack.

Still have no idea how much these things would weigh, which I need to know because I was contemplating casting Suspension on them.

I've been googling "24 ft pinnace" and while there's lots of references - I can't find an actual expected weight.
