Straight to the point, what are all the different ways a character can intentionally become immortal? It is fine if the process requires their death, but it cannot be something that simply happens.

List of ways (That I know of).

Become a Demon (I should know, I wrote a guide on it)
Become a Graveknight
Become a Lich
Become a Vampire

Any spell specifically designed to make you immortal. (I'm sure they exist)
Polymorph Any Object
Wish

Pass the test of the Starstone and become a God.

I never noticed those, though only problem with the last one is you cannot be the one to cast it. You'd need someone else with you to cast it on you every time you died.

Though, forced reincarnation would work.

Wizard 20 (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/arcane-discoveries/arcane-discoveries-paizo/immortality)This is by far the easiest way I know if you are playing Pathfinder. Heck, you don't even need to go past 20th level, let alone become a nasty lich or something. Not like back in the old days...

Easiest is to pick an immortal race. Contructs, undead, fey, abberations ect. You are now immortal with regard to old age.

Most of that only works if your DM allows you to convert 3.5 material.

Also, here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?145990-Ways-to-become-immortal-%283-5%29).

Of course, the only true way is to get to be around 25th level, set out on a quest to petition a particular Immortal to sponsor you, pass several difficult tests on the way, give them a really really expensive gift to prove your earnestness, then you should be level 36 by the time you have chosen and completed Paths one of the following:

1. Dynast. You have to create a realm, rule it for at least twenty years, make sure you have a legally valid heir (preferably of your blood, grandchildren or further down the line), overcome at least four challenges to your rule, quest for an artifact to travel through time, and travel to at least three future time periods to help at least 3 of your heirs to keep the kingdom.

2. Epic Hero. quest for a major artifact, destroy another, train a successor, and complete an epic, nearly impossible quest taking at least 5 years. You must also build a monument to your awesomeness that stands for at least ten years.

3. Paragon. quest for an artifact, create a new, unique magic item with components that are hard to find, including at least one impossible item, recruit at least 6 apprentices who rise at least 12 levels while in your service, and transform the land for 100 miles around to give it a unique appearance.

4. Polymath. succeed in 3 additional lives as 3 other classes and races you haven't been yet. In each of those 3 lives, you must quest for and gain the same artifact. Each time, you begin at 1st level, but the quest doesn't begin until 5th level. (The Immortal sponsor claims the artifact the first 2 times.) Then you adventure alone until you reach 12th level. You also have to adventure with one member of each human class (fighter, cleric, magic-user, thief - some demihumans may possibly substitute). If any of those are killed, you have to work on resurrecting them.

I still like the concept of becoming a demon at level 20 and being some supah-OP thing.

Ooooh, these are the paths from the black boxed Master Set I keep refering too. Isn't oldschool D&D cool or what?

Theoretically, you should be able to achieve immortality via any of your favored alignment based outsiders, I think they only have rules for demons though.

As fond as I am of demons, I do wish there were something published for those striving to become another form of outsider, without dying first. I mean, a DM could easily come up with something for it, but something official would be nice.

I agree, and I resent the implication that good-aligned people would be satisfied with their reward of a peaceful afterlife. No paladin should want to rest for eternity knowing there is true evil out there in the universe in need of a good smiting.

Not to go off my topic but reading that just made me share this image.

Anyways. I agree entirely. There are certainly those of all alignments who wish to do something for eternality rather than sit around in peace. I would think many good aligned characters would want to ensure peace for all before letting themselves have a peaceful afterlife.
