I get the point of alts, in general. When a board is prone to flaming and hostile behaviour, it's nice to have a second identity that can shelter you from ongoing hostility, and sometimes to free you to be hostile yourself.

What I can't figure is, why do it on such a tightly-moded board as GitP? The problems that alts circumvent shouldn't be found here.
