View Full Version : Taking Art Upgrades to the Limit

As we have all seen (except those who haven't noticed the comic in the sidebar) Rich has improved significantly upon his original stick figure style over the years. I wonder how far can the art be "upgraded" without losing the same stick figure feeling.

With your help, I hope to sate my curiosity and hopefully inspire some cool art. My first challenge for those intrepid artists who will set out on this quest to push the envelope is to create decent five fingered hands.

(Please note that of course this is not meant to insult Rich's artwork in any way. I still like even the oldest art)

I think Lissou did well in adding a thumb to make a four-fingered hand in this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?394461-Looking-for-advice-about-my-comic-style). I don't think you could reasonably incorporate all of her stylings, but that particular change would work well with the new hands.

Not sure if it is decent, but here is my best try making a five-fingered hand (with arm attached). Working on it, I remembered why I went with only 4 fingers even though I included the thumb. I still had to make the outline smaller than I usually have it.

Anyway, here goes:
