How to build this character

I have a villain in mind that wears leather armour, wields a katana in one hand via EWP and in the other hand utilities splash weapons and/or explosive-esque spells.

Can anyone guide me on how to successfully build this please.

Depends on if you're wanting to focus on spells or alchemical bombs.

In either case, this is a concept that's probably easier with Pathfinder (the Magus class is probably exactly what you want. Alchemist can likely accomplish what you want as well). In 3.5 it's probably a Wizard Gish of some sort.

I did consider the pathfinder alchemist but I am not as well versed as I would want to be with PF :/
