The Shaman or The Oracle, Which should i choose?

So i am playing the jade regent AP and as always i am paranoid about character death so i have a wonderful backup character in mind, a kami-blessed kitsune based around fire, the main issue i am running into is picking a class, both the Oracle and Shaman look good, Oracle has the Charisma synergy with the race, whereas the Shaman is something i have been wanting to play and also has its own interesting perks, the statblock i have to work with is as such (before racial mods, can be arranged however i like) 16, 16, 14, 14, 14, 13

Play a Spirit Guide (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/oracle/archetypes/paizo---oracle-archetypes/spirit-guide) Oracle. All the fun of Oracle, half the fun of Shaman!

I agree on Spirit Guide. Even if it weren't there, I'd say oracle in a heartbeat due to years more support than Shamans have.

Great idea! i hadn't thought of the Spirit Guide archetype, fixes my problem completely, do you have any advice on making a good flame oracle blaster?

Well, my first tip to any caster-based blaster would be to dip Crossblooded Sorcerer 1 between two of the several bloodlines that give a +1 damage bonus per die - Dragon and Orc off the top of my head, or primal if your DM allows crossblood+wildblood and you don't want the Orc darkvision and light sensitivity.

Glorious Heat might be a good option for you if you want to keep some support vibe (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/glorious-heat), Spell Perfection will be highly (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/spell-perfection) useful at later levels, as will Magical Lineage/Metamagic Master, the standard metamagic feats, Elemetal Spell (Something other than fire), Spell Focus, Spell Penetration, etc.

Of course, I'd also recommend being human but that's right out I suppose. :smallbiggrin:

The difference is more obvious than an optimization standpoint. Which spell list do you want to have? The Oracle spell list which include cleric spells aka one of the best maintained spells lists other than wizards? Or a narrowed down specialized druidish spell list?
