So, I'm making a new character who is tiny, and thus has a natural reach of 0ft, and I realised that the Pyrokineticist gives the character a reach of 15ft regardless of his size.

This made me think that I could get to work around this, but I have no idea if tehre are any ways of optimizing this, and I wanted your help to do it

Also, I'm considering using the Lasher to overcome the problems of a whip

Please, help me with this, what would you think that would work to optimize the fire lash

when i did it, i did hidden talent bard 1/swashbuckler 3/lasher 1/pyrokin 1/lasher 2/pyro 2 campaign ended suddenly for the rest. This was before toB, warblade or swordsage is probably a better way to go for the first 4 levels.

You do not get reach, you get a 15-foot whip.

There's a big difference.

You can hold the lash in two hands and use it as a two-handed weapon for strength & power attack boosts.

I assume it's for hilarity you want a tiny melee character in the first place? I recommend a small familiar/animal companion steed

While I can't remember all of what's in here, I'm sure that the Pyrokineticist Iron Chef Competition entrants has something of use to you: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?160266-Iron-Chef-Optimization-Challenge-VIII

The fire lash makes a ranged touch attack up to 15 ft. away. As a ranged attack, it doesn't actually give you any reach, you just get to attack up to that distance away. If you want actual melee reach, use the spell Thunderlance in SC, which can be combined with Persistent Spell.

Since it's a ranged attack, it will benefit from Point-Blank Shot, gaining +1 to attack and damage. However, you'll also want Precise Shot so you don't take a -4 to hit opponents in melee with your allies.

You can use any feat with it that can be used with a standard whip, which includes Power Attack. Note that any bonuses to damage add the same type of damage as the weapon's base damage, in this case fire damage. You can use one of the variants (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625e) to do a different type of damage, sonic is the least often resisted but also difficult to meet the prerequisites with.

Consider taking Wild Cohort (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a) or similar for a pet/mount that scales with your level.

You can specifically take Weapon Focus/Specialization for it, so you should be able to take Ranged Weapon Mastery in PH2 assuming you can select its damage type. That could increase its range to 35 feet, but check with your DM first.

It really depends on what else you want the character to do besides being tiny size and swinging around a 15-ft. long whip of psychic energy.

Also, there is Kineticist (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030328b).
This PrC have, besides Energy Lash, actual Psion progression (7/10)
Energy Lash accessible from 3rd level, and initially do only 1d4 damage, but you can spend pp to increase it +1d4 per pp (no more than half your Kineticist level, maximum 6d4)

whip climber skill trick is probably worth the skill points once you're sure that you can qualify for all of your prestige classes.

The Pyrokineticist is the 3.5 version of the Kineticist.

Feats that affect whips work on it, so Melee Weapon Mastery and Power Attack.

Primordial Giant Eneko or half Giant, with a few castings of Return to Nature. This gets you to tiny size, and a CHA boost for the other pyro abilities.

Hairy spider or beguiler would work too.

And would Rapid shot work with the lash?

The Pyrokineticist is the 3.5 version of the Kineticist. You get it backward:
Kineticist (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030328b) is based on 3.0 Pyrokineticist, which actually had manifesting progression.
(Also, he had CFs: Touch aflame - at 1st level, and Fire lord - at 10th. Striking similarity with the Kineticist :smallwink: )

I did this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=18176116&postcount=132) with it, which I'm rather proud of.
