Is there a way via spell, archetype or similar for a druid to gain access to (temporary) aid of an elemental? I find it weird that a druid can commune with the elements and the wild, yet he has no way of binding raging elementals or asking the elements for extended help other than a SNA spell.

Are there spells for that? I realize the new shaman class has Planar Ally on its spell list, but I need a way for druids to gain that power as well.

You could use the Summon Elemental reserve feat so bring up an elemental whenever your druid wants, or the elemental companion ACF which replaces your animal companion.

There is of course also the Elemental Swarm (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/elementalSwarm.htm) spell, and elementals are on the docket for Summon Nature's Ally II (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/summonNaturesAllyII.htm) and higher (starts at Small).

This one's fine ( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/super-genius-games---druid-archetypes/air-elemental-companion )and I guess I have to rely on the druid summoning spells for larger ones. I guess I can extrapolate from there.

Be a halfling, and you can ride it around at 4th level. Even though they don't have size increases, remember, they are smart and have a language. This means they can take ranks of UMD and use items and equipment.

You can ALSO share the polymorph spells with your companion using share spell. The elemental one's are not on the druid list though...
