So I've recently gotten back into playing FFVII after a number of years of it sitting on the shelf but I'm finding I'm having problems with it. I run it in compatibility mode for Windows 95 but it keeps crashing at certain places, when I tried to recruit Yuffie which I could bypass so it was not a big deal. Now I've run into another crash at a critical story point in the Golden Saucer Chocobo race part.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

Have you downloaded all patches etc?

I didn't think there would be XP patches for such an old game but a quick Google search revealed many patches claiming to fix all my problems, and a few I didn't know I had....

Thanks.

That's the first rule of gaming: Download whatever patches you find. If they claim to fix something? Get it! :)

I do know there's an XP patch available somewhere on the 'net... I just can't remember where.

Yeah, I found them, it was a simple Google that found them but I just got Vista so now I need to wait for there to be a patch for that.

Hi. FF7 is not the case. There are some quasi-patches which mess up the good things and make FF7 crash. I think that so called Anime Vamp patch is one of them.

For all info about FF7 patching see forums on http://forums.qhimm.com , guys there know a lot about FF's. Hell, one of patches they made Eidos took and published on their website i think.

Especially see these threads:
