Energy Subsitution on the same spell twice?

So If I take the feat energy subsitution twice, lets say one for fire and one for cold, can I use it on a spell twice?
If I did it on lets say lightning bolt would it make the spell fire and cold or would it just change the spell twice?
my reason for asking is If I can apply it to the same spell twice in addition to arcane thesis to help lower the cost of other metamagic feats.
