Nevermind, question is answered, I made a stupid mistake.

A Paladin who takes Ruby Knight Vindicator levels can continue to take Paladin levels after that. Normally, once you multiclass out of Paladin, you can never go back.

Say I go Paladin 4/Crusader 1/Ruby Knight Vindicator 10.

There are two notes on the multiclass dynamic that are confusing me... One is that RKV does not gain a caster level of the previous class at every level.
The other is that a Paladin who takes Ruby Knight Vindicator continues to advance as a Paladin.

So is a Paladin an exception? Or does the former Paladin acquire class features instead of spells per day at those dead RKV levels?

In other words, how many damn spells do I get?
You cast as a 12th level paladin - 4 for your paladin levels, and 8 for the 8 levels of RKV that advance paladin casting.
