Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 751 through 760.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on March 17th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :elan: 750 Making Up for Lost Time (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0750.html) showed that strips don't have to go on and on and on, with words everywhere that needlessly tell a story in excruciating detail when one can simply, and exquisitely, express what goes on in a tale in wordless vignettes. It's this sort of economy of storytelling that is more than rewarded in these parts and is celebrated by...

*thwack*

Ouch.

I mean to say, it easily moved on to the Best of the Hundred Tournament.

While that strip left a cheery spot in voter's hearts, things might, just might, be taking a more ominous tone. The only way to make sure is to read the strips that make up....

758 for me. There are a couple of absolute favorite lines in some of the other comics in this batch, and a really chilling moment in 759, but I've just always loved how cinematic this one feels.

I'm going for 753 - Slash Attack, more than a solid performance of the Belkstar.

753 and 754 are little moments of comedic gold. However, the part where Tarquin's plan was revealed had such a great impact on me, I don't think I could not vote for it. #758!

755 gets the elusive Non-Expository Exposition for Setting Detail vote from me.

I like 757 and 759's darker punchlines than usual for OOTS. #757 has the better title.

755. Dark, but funny.

758, 759 and 760 are all excellent, for different reasons (the perfect timing of 58, the flaming letters of 59 and a very nice view of Tarquin's personality of 60).
I believe I'll wait a little, to assign my vote.

One of the most powerful rounds ever. #758 gets it for introducing the Vector Legion and the enigmatic Shoulder Pad Guy.

This isn't going to win, but 754 for the laws of physics needing time to cry alone in the corner.

I really want to vote for 754. It has sentimental value to me, because it was the first strip I ever read in this comic.

But759 is just the turning point of this entire arc, so I have to give it my vote.

759 for me.

753, for Tarquin's lack of homophobia.

759, for proving, once and for all, that Tarquin is evil with a capital E.

There are so many superb strips in this series that I'll be satisfied with the winner regardless of the results. But 759: Yes, Apparently takes the prize for having the most pathos, I think.

Great set of strips. I'm going with 758: Spins of the Father, when Tarquin reveals his scheme. It's the most well-thought-out villainous plan in the entire comic. Evil and pragmatic.

753 is best in comedy wise, 758 is best in plot wise... :smallconfused:

753 and 754 are tasty entertainment, but 758 is exquisite.

I've come to a (painful) decision.
759 it is!

Ui, this century is picking up... I'd be happy with many, but I do have a favourite: 758, for all the reasons already mentioned.

758. It just explains so much in one strip.

Was offline for a good portion of the day, so running behind. Lots of great strips, of similar quality. But I'm going to for vote 759 simply for the title. It was that good. :smallwink:

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g68/Cats_Are_Aliens/Banners/Tarquin.png 758 Spins of the Father (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0758.html) is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
