Psalacantha flies 35' directly upwards (moving at half speed to allow a tumble check to avoid triggering AOOs), and at the top of her climb, casts Flame Strike at the giant below.

[roll0]
Bardic Knack is supplying the 6 'virtual' ranks that aren't on her sheet but do apply to checks. Target number is, I think, 15.

Psalacantha clearly needs to get out of melee before the giant takes another swing at her, so she breaks out her Dimension Door SLA to get herself safely airborne. (She's aiming for about 150' above the giant's head).

Call Lightning completes half-way through the round, and Psalcantha smoothly segues into another spell, 'Summon Nature's Ally VI'. Again, spell will complete in the following round.

I kinda wish I'd just done the summon nature's ally from 150' up, but I don't think 'bear-bombs' is the sort of idea a Druid would be likely to come up with. Or actually use even if she had thought of it. *sigh*

Assumption for this post: We're starting the battle on the ground.

Psalcantha will pick F5 as her starting square, and since she's going first, will use her 70' flight speed to get into a position directly above the Dragon. (Quick estimation says she'll be about 40-50 feet up after using a standard move action.) She'll then begin casting Summon Nature's Ally VI.

Somehow, Psalacantha doesn't lose her spell despite the approaching acid. Instead, she uses her move action to finish summoning an air elemental, which she places between herself and the direction the acid breath came from. She then goes on to add See Invisibility to her normal buffs, which she would have done earlier had I spotted that the Dragon was starting the fight under Greater Invisibility.

To the best of my knowledge, the Elemental cannot see through the Greater Invisibility either, and so can do little this round beyond acting as a meat shield in case of further assault.

I imagine you can have see invisibility. So you can direct the air elemental, but it'll have the 50% miss chance.

whoiam

I should stress that that was just for this round - Psalacantha does have see invisibility (it's one of her bard spells), I just didn't realise the Dragon was invisible soon enough to cast that before summoning the elemental. (Or claim it was one of Psalacantha's standard pre-battle buffs like Freedom of Movement and Blur.) So she can give directions from next turn, she just isn't in time to direct it this turn.

I lost badly against an enemy that could pursue me, and scraped a win against one that could not. As power levels go, I'm fairly happy with that. But if you think you need to put me up against something else to decide if Psalacantha needs nerfing, go ahead.

The creature is invisible. So see invisibility is in your buff routine right?

Psalacantha's summoning collapses as the Dragon half-roasts her in a single breath. With no summoned creature to hide behind, Psalacantha takes the chance to be nowhere near the Dragon, attempting to defensive-cast Dimension Door to take herself 880' directly above the Dragon.

So. Low on health, the elementals may as well have been snowballs, and the Dragon's faster than her now she's already used her Dimension Door. Time for a save-or-die! With her Charm Monster highly unlikely to work on an already-hostile target, she goes for Baleful Polymorph instead.

By my count, Sally took 23 damage (10 from what I assume is the first bite attack, 1 from the first attack of claw 2 (even if it doesn't confirm its critical hit, that one was a nat. 20), 1 from the first attack of wing 2, and 11 from the second attack of the Tail Slap), and starts her next turn dead on -15HP.

Alright, looking forward to starting the game :) I've got fluff to write up over the weekend.
