I need a list of elements. I plan to make a homebrew campaign where elementalists must choose one element.

From the classical ones(Fire, water, air, wind, earth)

To the more subjective ones(Dark, light, gravity, heart, metal, sun)

Ideas? I want to Incorporate as many as possible in a game. Can you guys also help me with a description of the type of spells each element will have? Thanks.

This is what I got so far:

-Fire
-Water
-Ice
-Air
-Wind
-Earth
-Dark
-Ligth
-Void
-heart
-Gravity
-Metal
-Sun
-Moon
-Flowers
-Time
-Space
-wood
-gas
-plants
-acid
-blood
-cold
-poison
-sound
-life
-death
-Holy
-unholy
-profane
-spirit
-magnetism
-undeath
-necromancy
-glass
-crystal
-lava
-magma
- alcohol
-liquids
-storm
-arcane
-electricity
-shadow

Any other ideas? For both elements and type of spells.

I'd put in a periodic table joke, but that's too obvious.

You don't have wood on your list, blood might be another

I second wood. You also absolutely need Electricity/Lightning.

The Pokémon types might give you some ideas.

Wood could probably be amalgamated with the OP's "flowers" to become "Plants"

I also feel like Gravity would probably be a facet of Space.

edit: Wait, you have air and wind as separate things?

Also, Ice/Cold should be in there. Maybe Sound too.

I will suggest this periodic table, as slightly less obvious :smallwink:

Should Electricity and Lightning be treated as different elements?

Since I want to do a huge list with manny different types of mages I will have Both plants and wood.

A player especially asked for a "flowers" element. Don't ask why. He is a joker I guess he want to kill people using flowers as a form of humiliation

EDIT:

I hate chemistry but a "noble gases mage" sounds awesome.

Yeah like air is more about oxidation and respiration.
And wind is more like blow you away and razor Wind.

-Some D&D ones you're missing: sonic, acid, positive (life), negative (death), force, vile
-Holy/Unholy

How should I define vile and force?

There's always magnetism, given that you already have gravity. There are materials that aren't listed (e.g. glass, magma). Life could be used, it fits in the milieu. If you're going narrow, there are some fun specialized fluids - alcohol could be entertaining, and while it's a compound so's water.

How should I define vile and force?

Reading through the description, vile damage was apparently just so evil it's difficult to cure. So I suppose it might be better to just say good and evil damage.

Force was just it's own D&D category. If I were to fluff a more generalized "force" element, I'd probably link it to one of the atomic forces. Actually, I guess that's a good source for several elements. Gravity, magnetic, and then maybe make "force" the strong and weak atomic forces (I'd ask someone more knowledgeable in physics for an explanation). In terms of what it can do, I'd link force to force fields, unexplainably moving things around (like telekinesis), and maybe re-arranging matter on a molecular or smaller level.

An alcohol mage sounds awesome.

Depending on your setting, you could throw in psionics (mind) or unelemental.

Psionics is pretty self explanatory, but for unelemental it could be fluffed as the original elemental source where all others originated from. Assuming this is for a magic user, spin it as magic in its rawest form where as other elemental types are the more refined forms of magic.

- Creation
- Destruction
- Birth
- Star
- Sky
- Dream
- Disease

if you're going to have Blood, how about
- Bone

and how about the seasons -
- Spring
- Summer
- Winter
- Fall

- Fluffiness

(and maybe alphabetize that list -- it's getting cluttered)

Needs more Art:
- Song
- Dance
- Beauty
- Grace

Then there's:
- Awe
- Speed
- Distance
- Love
- Structure
- Conflict

Edit: and how could I have missed:
- Truth

I also can't believe no-one has linked to this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYW50F42ss8) yet.

I notice a glaring omission, the lack of that element known as Surprise.

Force was just it's own D&D category. If I were to fluff a more generalized "force" element, I'd probably link it to one of the atomic forces. In terms of what it can do, I'd link force to force fields, unexplainably moving things around (like telekinesis), and maybe re-arranging matter on a molecular or smaller level.

I've normally seen force as kinetic energy without anything accompanying it. Which means that you could have 'kinetic' and 'atomic force' elements.

I also can't believe no-one has linked to this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYW50F42ss8) yet.

Was totally going to do this, I guess I'll settle for this (http://xkcd.com/965/).
