Week 1. Day 1.
Your head is throbbing. You have no memory of where you are, your name, or why you'd be here. You can feel something solid under you. The air is hot and dry. Despite your memory loss something feels...different. Looking around the area is covered in sand. The land is flat, the wind kicks sand into your face with every gust. Luckily it isn't a strong wind, or who knows what would happen. You can stand on the sand, the heat radiates off of it. When you stand up, you realize the solid thing under you is a box. It bears no labels and the sand has started to pile up around it. You've probably been here for some time.

Inside you find some provisions. A backpack, a bedroll, and a waterskin filled with water. Underneath all the rest is a short bow and 5 arrows.
(Only items you currently have from your list)

The land seems different to the South and West.

You gain heat endurance.

Heat. Hunger. Heat. Hunger. The two annoyances take turns at poking at the varag's consciousness. The sand kicked up by the wind is only the icing on the cake. Opening the box, the varag finds his pack, bed, water, and bow and arrows. It is not much, but it is a start.
Free feats?... I like this already.

The wind is moving from the East. Your nostrils flare with the blowing wind, but it is in doing so that you notice it. The faintest hint of moisture, to the West? No, to the South. You cannot quite distinguish which. Normally you should have, perhaps that means water is in both directions.

Prehysterical

When in doubt, go south. The varag cannot remember where he heard such a thing, but he has no better plan for the moment. The varag beings loping south as only a varag can. The promise of water, and therefore food, cannot be ignored.
So, just something that I should mention before this gets too far underway...
Varags need three times the normal amount of a medium humanoid to maintain their energy.
If reduced to twice the consumption of a human, they require frequent rest to restore their energy.
If reduced to the same food as a regular humanoid, their speed is reduced to 30 ft.

You are the one that didn't list food! Only reason you got the bow and a few arrows. :D

You walk south for a long time. Hours upon hours. You travel for 3 hours before you see it. The faintest glimmer of rocks on the horizon. Another hour further south brings you to the edge of the rocks. They aren't tall, possibly only knee high. However, they do impair your movement some. The rocks are smooth to the touch, years of wind and sand having worn them down. A sniff of the air reveals that water is nearby, perhaps on the other side of this outcropping.

There indeed is water on the other side of the rocks. Plenty of it, surrounded by rocks as far as the eye can see. The rocks on this side are sharper, nicking your skin when you weren't careful crossing them. Nothing major, but enough to let you know to take care. Apparently this area was protected from the fierce wind and sand. Around the edge of the water are a few trees and cacti.

Your keen eyes notice a rabbit scampering at the edge of your vision. It starts at the water and runs towards the rocks.

I understand that I didn't list any food. I was just saying FFR.

The varag eyes the sharp stones warily. A nick wouldn't be too bad, but shredding himself on rocks to get to water seemed counterproductive. He begins to cross, going as carefully as he can.

You are scratched a few more times in your journey, but quickly discover how to spot the difference between rocks that are sharper versus those that are rough. Taking care to move slows you just a bit, but you barely notice it. With the lessen learned the varag easily crosses the rocks to the water. There are a few small trees here. Surveying the surrounding rocks there are a few different formations. There are even a few alcove like structures formed from overhanging rocks. As you approach the water things change a bit. The rocks disappear near the water. Instead there is small desert plant life. While lacking enough food for Steve, they probably could sustain other life. In the distance you can see what looks like an island in the middle of the water.

Your eyes are able to spot what looks like the outline of trees. It is the only thing you can imagine it being given how they rise up out of the ground. It also appears to be a pretty great distance to the island. It'd take you half a day or so, but the water is calm.

Prehysterical
2015-03-16, 02:36 PM
If the varag is to sustain itself, it will have to subsist on more than the meager plants presented here. Sitting around and waiting for something to come nibble on these plants is not an attractive option, either. After taking a while to consider the object in the distance, the varag begins the long, unenviable task of swimming to the island. Even though the water is calm, being adrift in the water is enough to make the swimmer extremely nervous.

2015-03-16, 07:12 PM
It takes most of the rest of the day, but you are able to reach the island by night fall. As you draw closer you can see a few scattered trees, but it appears to be mostly barren. As you come up on the island it turns out to be coated in grass. This land could sustain some more wildlife. You can spot a few birds fluttering about from tree to tree.

A quick taste of the water through which you've just swam reveals it to be fresh water. You could easily sustain yourself off of it. As you search for food, the birds seem like your best options. The water is probably where any wild life would come to drink, you could set some snares to catch them. You are able to spot the tracks of a few small game animals such as rabbits. Looking into the water you can see some ripples of where fish are swimming. There may be other water life, but that would take some diving to figure out.

You remember the trees off in the distance from which the birds moved to and fro. Likely any plants you could eat would be nearest the trees. Perhaps the trees were fruit bearing as well, you were a good distance away yet. In your immediate vicinity there are no edible plants. As you look around you notice the grass is tall. Given the desert environment your survival instincts nag at you about serpents.

Well, first things first. The varag takes a good, long drink of the water he had swam through. The rabbit tracks are a good sign, but the varag wants to explore his options slightly further before deciding on a course of action. He moves toward the trees, though he goes more slowly to avoid missing any potential predators in the brush.

The water is cool and refreshing. You reach the trees with little problem, you hear animals but they all seem to be fleeing before you. But upon arriving you discover a problem. There appears to be some small shrubs around the trees. The trees and shrubs both appear to be bearing fruit, though not a lot. But there are thorns, everywhere. Getting at the fruit may prove difficult, and you still aren't even sure if you can eat them.

If the varag had had his scimitar, the thorns would not have been so much of a problem. Without it, however, he has no desire to risk getting caught in the brambles for something that he might be able to eat. Instead, the varag takes up his bow and nocks an arrow without pulling it back.

There was prey to be had here. It was time to go hunting.

You realize that yes a blade would be helpful, but you could just as easily use the bow to knock the thorns or fruit loose from the tree. The brambles on the bushes could be carefully picked as well.

You manage to kill the rabbit. [roll0]

You miss the rabbit and spook it. It takes off and you are able to track it for long enough to get off a second shot at most. It'll be harder to hit it on the run though.[roll1]

Briefly, the varag considers smoking the rabbits to preserve them. However, he feels like celebrating his strange freedom. Also, he needs to keep his strength up. He can hunt more tomorrow, and the plants that he harvested earlier would sustain him if he had no luck on the morrow.

Licking his chops, the varag tears into his hard-earned meal and washes it down with more fresh water. Now that immediate concerns are set aside, the varag begins hunting for rocks or stones that can be shaped into crude tools. He makes sure to throw sand over the fire to prevent it from getting out of hand.

Week 1. Day 1.

The hour gets late as Steve seeks out supplies to use in fashioning crude tools. He is able to find a few sticks and rocks. A sling would probably work best to throw the stones, such a grassy area doesn't contain anything to make into a spear or arrow. Steve had crossed the rocky terrain which would yield plenty of stone for tools. He is able to hustle back to the trees before it gets too late. Looking at the sky he realizes he has to decide between wood for tools and wood for another fire. He could probably gather things for both, but the results would clearly cause sacrifices.

You can gather enough wood to last the night in a fire, gather enough wood for a few simple tools, or gather enough wood to last about half the night and maybe a tool. (This all depends on exactly what types of tools you are planning).

The varag... Steve... that was his name... faces a difficult choice for the first night. As much as he wants to get to work on making tools, the fire has to be a priority. Time enough for tools later. The wood feeds the hunger of the fire as Steve tosses it in.

As he curls up next to his source of warmth, he resolves to go back to the rocky area from before to gather better stones in the morning. For now, though, sleep with a full belly was calling to him.

Steve has another difficult decision to make. It is obvious that he cannot remain here much longer without exhausting the food supplies available. He will have to try and preserve the food later to travel. Before leaving, however, he resolves to collect a small amount of materials to start a fire. Steve wakes up with something of an actual plan. He has enough food for the day, so he decides to give exploration another go. He swims across the water and continues west, hoping to see some change in the landscape.

The scenery doesn't change for almost the entire day (8hrs) then suddenly you come to the edge of the world. It just ends. It does continue North and South.

For the world to just suddenly... end is just baffling. Steve continues north for another two hours, looking for something to eat as he goes.

As you instead wander North the scenery doesn't change. There is no food, just sand and more sand.

Steve resigns himself to a dinner made from the last of his smoked rabbit and settles down. It's going to be a cold night.
Is there any chance that I can get a map of some description so that this game doesn't end because I forget which direction has the water?

What do you mean? You have the description of your actions in previous posts if you need it. Now if you mean your character, I leave that to your character to worry about/develop.
