Well, let's walk through some of the things you can do.

One idea that people like is to do is to take the spelldancer class and take metamagic reduction feats. This lets you cast metamagic spells without increasing the casting time. Get 2 levels of metamagic reduction (easy metamagic and practical metamagic). You can now add Fell drain to any spell you cast at no cost. Cast cloud of knives, share it with your familiar. Now you get two free attacks each round that deal a negative level with the hit, no save. Dragons are high save, high HP tanks. Taking them down means dealing with their saves. The ability to deal 3+ negative levels a round mean that those high saves don't stay high for long.

For everything else, there is fell drain magic missile.

Another great combo is to dip one level in dragonslayer (a nice theamed class, if weak past the first level) and then go into spellsword (again for one level only) followed by Abjurant Champion. You lose no spellcasting and get to take 7 levels of full BAB, plus your abjuration defenses go through the roof. Dragons have low caster levels, a free quickened dispel magic does nasty things to them.

Abjurant champion is the go to PRC for a fighter mage. Unfortunately, mage armor isn't abjuration, so if you want to cash in on the Abjurant Armor class feature as a sorcerer you will have to be good alignment and spend a feat on Arcane Preparation so you can prepare and cast Luminous Armor (abjuration) to gain that benefit.

Or just learn shield spell, which is a 1st level abjuration spell. (Whose +4 shield bonus also stacks with Mage armor's armor bonus.)

Well yeah obviously you'll use shield spell since its abjuration and grants a SHIELD bonus. But you'll want an armor bonus too (why not??) And mage armor is conjuration and only gives +4 and thats it. So while a 5th level abjurant champion gets +9shield bonus from shield spell, they still only get +4 from mage armor since its from the wrong school. Thats why you need (greater) luminous armor. Because its from the abjuration school and grants a +13 Armor bonus to AC at level 5.

Ah. I misread, and thought you were talking about the prerequisite of a 1st level abjuration spell.

And then you stack the two.

And remember, that shield spell gets extended and quickened for free, so it lasts 2Xcl minutes, adds +9 tp your AC, and is cast as a swift action. Also, first level memento mori are cheap, so don't forget to load up with enough to cast shield every single combat.
