You could run around the troop of orcs provoking, and then attack at the end, ramping your AC up to the moon for the whole turn. Stacking a little %miss chance seems good as well. This would be something to try on a Deepwarden or other martial character that thrives on drawing attacks.

Everyone always complains that mobility is a wasted feat, but if there was something great to be gained from making people miss attacks of opportunity, it might be worthwhile.

Am onto something or is this stupid?

Not one of them needs to use an attack of opportunity whenever you provoke one. If they don't use the attack, you're sitting in the middle of a troop (6-15) of orcs ready to be full attacked or grappled.

Yeah, but a bunch of violent orcs refusing to attack a guy prancing in front of them to avoid activating his pearl of black doubt seems meta gamey

Agreed, also this tactic sounds freakin hilarious. Obviously this would be your theme song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg)

Some enemies are able to make observations and act on those observations. Pretty much anything with an intelligence score can do this. It isn't metagaming. Neither is waiting for a better opportunity to arise to use your limited resources.

Eh, seems a bit situational. Clever trick, though. Helps that as you provoke, future ones become more likely to miss.

Several problems:

First, to use his setup, you have to be at least 5th level, by which point, you have other ways to handle them.

Second, Mobility is really good. It allows you to take Elusive Target, probably the best defensive feat in the game. But... in terms of it's own effects...

Three, the problem with Mobility is not just that you can usually avoid attacks of oppurtunity altogether. There is also the problem that, as you get higher in levels, you are pretty much better off ditching AC altogether and putting together defenses from HP, saves/immunities (for the effects that use those) and miss chance. AC does not scale properly without excessive amounts of investment, to the point where I, at least, typically find that it's not worth the effort.
