So, this is my first attempt at updating a race for 5th edition.

The Nezumi

The Nezumi are a race of ratlike humanoids that once had a large civilization on Rokugan, which was ended when Fu Leng fell in the centre of that empire. Since then, the Nezumi have been stuggling to fight and defend their homes from the growing population of oni, trolls and other beasts that have succomed to the taint of the shadowlands. The Nezumi are somehow immune to these taints, and while the “civilized” populations look down on them as a race of thieves and without honor, the rest of the lands would face a far greater threat from the shadowlands without the nezumi. They do not subscribe to the honour system that the rest of rokugan follows, but they are kind and quick on their feet, and fierce warriors, if lacking in common sense.
On other worlds, the nezumi suffer prejudice due to the activities of wererats, and are often thought to be evil. Many nezumi attempt to fight these prejudices, but due to their struggle to interact with humans and their crude mannerisms, this is a challenge.
Nezumi stand 5 foot tall and with a hunch, allowing them to drop down to all fours easily.

As a Nezumi, you have –

• +1 to Constitution and +1 to Dex,
• Medium size
• A base speed of 30 feet
• You have advantage on saves made against poison and disease, and resistance against poison damage
• All fours – Thanks to your ability to drop to all fours, you count as small when attempting to squeeze through confined spaces
• Pheromones – As a nezumi, you can leave a simple message using glands near your tail. You can only leave simple messages one word long, such as “Danger”, “Food”, “Enemy”. The messages last only a day, have a range of 15 yards and can be washed away.
• Superior low light vision – you can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight and other conditions of poor illumination, and you retain the ability to distinguish colour and detail under these conditions.
• Immunity from the shadowfell despair and vile transformation. Thanks to the immunity from the shadowlands taint from survival in the shadowlands, the Nezumi are immune to the effects of the Plane of Shadow and the Gray Waste.
• As a nezumi, you have an advantage on stealth checks
• You have a 1d4 bite or claw attack (Piercing damage), in addition to standard attack. The bite or claw attack is in addition to your standard attack.

Why is Kara-tur in the title?

Why is Kara-tur in the title?

Just thought that they would make a nice addition to Kara-Tur, and by extension, Forgotten Realms.

Just wanted to point out that there are only four types of vision in 5e: Blindsight, Darkvision, Truesight, and normal vision. The closest one to what you wrote is Darkvision.

I did a new version of the nezumi (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?459225-The-Nezumi&p=20075255#post20075255), along with the third whisker nezumi. Thanks for the feedback though.

Yeah, the Low Light/Darkvision, that was intentional on my part, wanted to help balance it out by not giving them darkvision to offset the proficiencies and the immunities. Personally, I would have liked to see WoTC keep Lowlight and Darkvision separate.
