What is race? Well... I won't make any jokes. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FantasticRacism)That would be wrong. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AndThatWouldBeWrong)

What do races have? They have a type, a subtype, stat modifications, and some special ability. More powerful races may have a level adjustment, which we'll use responsibly and keep within +0, +1, and +2, right? They will also have a backstory and some cultural elements. What do they do? What is their patron deity? What is their Favored Class/Favored Class Bonus?

Remember that we need to acquire permission before making a race. Please provide permission via post with a link to itself.

I grant my permission. I can't format the link here, but I'll also do Snowbluff as a race, if no one's claimed.

Edit: So here's what I've got so far; any tips?

Snowbluffians

Once upon a time, the Snowbluffians were just another race of humans, born in a frigid and inhospitable wasteland. They were industrious, happy, and lived with peaceful serenity. But then, one day, one of their members returned home from a hunting trip with a strange box carved with images of gods in tow. Their elder opened it, and was amazed at what he found. A bright blue orb, cold as the heart of winter, and full of power. They could have let it be, but they were curious. But their attempts to use it changed them forever. Infusing them with the power of an ancient, dead deity, they became the Snowbluffians.

Snowbluffians are often tall, thin, pale and blonde. Their icy blue eyes give way to a stare that could frighten the gods of winters themselves.

+2 Int, +2 Con: Snowbluffians are often far more resourceful and hardy than humans and other creatures, especially in their native environments.
+2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Bluff checks: A saying about Snowbluffians states, "Trust a Snowbluffian's insight, and hope their tongue speaks true." They're very convincing at arguing their points logically and efficiently.
+2 racial bonus on Survival checks in cold environs- Snowbluffians are rarely cold for long, even in the most freezing temperatures, and almost instinctively know how to find food and make shelter.
Heat Munity (Ex): Snowbluffians are more susceptible to heat than most, and in warm environments must drink water twice as often or risk hyperthermia.
Humanoid (Snowbluffian): Despite being descended from a northern race of humans, the Snowbluffians are not human.
Base land speed is 30 ft. Snowbluffians also take no penalties due to terrain when traveling through snow.
Favored Class: Seriously, who gives a crap? No one uses favored class rules anyway.
Level Adjustment: +0.

I balanced it against lesser Aasimar.

Edit: I changed the backstory a little bit, added descriptions. Thoughts?

As I mentioned, I have several ideas. Since I find PF races harder to tweak, paradoxically enough, I'll start with that one first. I've used the PF racial stat block model, which is a nauseating amount of work.

For Elric (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19000401&postcount=13): The Altovilla.

History: Legend tells of a Great Wyrm dragon, in times of old (although few recall the color of its scales) who became enamored of the martial prowess of the mortal races. For a creature of inherent magical and physical power, to see these paltry races play at soldier with their handcrafted tools seemed at first an exercise in frustration and futility; but as this nameless ancestor watched, he found himself fascinated with the focus, the artistry, and the dedication of these tiny creatures. Descending from his lair, and taking human shape, he walked among the people he encountered, studying their arts and joining their community. In time, he took a wife, and had children. It was in the birth of his half-dragon children that the truth of his nature was revealed, for unlike their father, they were not adept in concealing their true nature.

The nameless dragon had, by this time, developed a following of students of his martial craft. Now fallen into disrepute, he, his family, and his students took their leave, and departed for places unknown. The community continued to refine the arts of combat, and the generations diluted the blood of the dragon, who eventually passed from the world.

The descendants of this dragon and his students had taken up residence in a hermitage located deep within the hidden peaks of a mountain range. So it was that they named themselves for their home; they were known as the Altovilla.

Physical Description: Altovilla are roughly human in appearance, although they tend to have slight reptilian features, such as scaled skin, slitted eyes, or enlarged, sharp teeth. These features are purely cosmetic, and vary wildly in severity and coloration. Altovilla are known to take titles based in part on their appearance; for example, one with blue scales might be called "Yodan Skyscale," while one with amber irises might be "Kalia Serpentseye."

Society: Altovilla place high emphasis on training. It is very common for one's social status to be directly proportionate to one's successful efforts in a given field. That said, Altovilla do not narrowly define "training" - training might include sparring or martial training, but also practicing music, or studying alchemy. There is even one famous Altovilla, Tothek the Effortless, who became esteemed for training in what he called "the art of highly effective laziness."

That said, Altovilla most highly prize martial prowess. Not mere brute strength, but artistry and skill are among the most valued abilities of Altovilla warriors. Those who are strongest and most skilled quickly rise to positions of prestige. Those who are weak are not scorned, however; as long as they continue to try, and to train, they are commended for their efforts, and encouraged by the community as a whole.

Relations: Altovilla tend to be very insular, due to their semi-exiled upbringing. Outsiders will be cautiously welcomed, but generally avoided, within the Altovilla community.

An Altovilla abroad is another matter entirely. Altovilla travel almost exclusively for training, whatever that might mean to the Altovilla in question. As such, they welcome encounters and new experiences, as these will likely aid in their training. Altovilla adventurers tend to be friendly and outgoing, regardless of race or background.

The one thing that is anathema to Altovilla mentality, that can turn off an Altovilla most quickly, is a lack of desire to improve. Those who become complacent are an object of disgust or horror to the Altovilla.

Alignment: The tendency of the Altovilla towards training causes many to lean towards a Lawful alignment. However, this is not universal; for example, one Altovilla, Copas the Hideously Inebriated, dedicated his training to the consumption of intoxicating substances, and was (to most observers) highly Chaotic.

Adventurers: Altovilla travel for training. Training is life. Altovilla adventurers recognize that there is training to be had in peril, in exploration, or in protecting and serving others. Given their tendency towards martial combat, Altovilla most commonly gravitate towards the martial classes (Stalker, Warder, and Warlord), although members of other classes are not unheard of.

Ability Score Racial Traits: Altovilla characters gain a +2 racial bonus to one ability score of their choice to represent their varied nature.
Size: Altovilla are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Type: Altovilla are Humanoids with the reptilian subtype.
Base Speed: Altovilla have a base speed of 30 feet.
Languages: Altovilla begin play speaking Common. Altovilla with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

Racial Traits:
Martial Training I: Even though their paths diverge, all Altovilla are trained in the fundamentals of martial combat. Altovilla gain Martial Training I as a bonus feat at first level, even if they do not meet the prerequisites.
Defensive Training, Greater: Rigorous Altovilla training focuses on skill and defense. Altovilla gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC.

Alternate Racial Traits:
Advanced Study: Altovilla benefit more from the training of martial adepts than other races. Altovilla with this trait take Advanced Study as a bonus feat at first level, even if they do not meet the prerequisites. Replaces Martial Training I.
Focused Study: Not all Altovilla focus on combat; some refine their other skills. At 1st, 8th, and 16th level, members of this race gain Skill Focus in a skill of their choice as a bonus feat. Replaces Defensive Training, Greater.

Favored Class Options:
Stalker: Add +1/4 to the Stalker's ki pool.
Warder: Add +1/6 to the Warder's Aegis (or Guardianship) bonus.
Warlord: Add +1/3 to the number of maneuvers recovered when the Warlord successfully uses a gambit.
Keledrath, you're next.

Oh, I have a nice one for this.

Red Felguards (Variant Tiefling Heritage (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-tiefling))
Medium Outsider [Lawful, Evil, Native]
Racial Mods: +2 Cha, +2 Dex, -2 Str
Racial Skills: +2 Bluff and Diplomacy
SLA: Silent Table (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/silent-table)

Red Felguards are the descendants of Contract Devils (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/devil/devil-contract), and their sly nature shows it. They frequently grow into spies or con men, thanks to their natural talents of deception and the magic inherent to their nature.

First off, Keledrath, I like it. Classy, charming, sneaky, and smart SLA. I'm a fan. And since you just had to use PF, I suppose I must reciprocate in kind. This one's for you (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19000302&postcount=10).

History: The dragons of old often experimented with the lesser races. In particular, it wasn't uncommon for dragons to tinker with their most loyal of followers, the kobolds. One such dragon, now lost to posterity, was quick to realize that his precious minions were sadly quite vulnerable. Unlike he, with his mighty armored scales, his kobold subjects were really rather squishy and frail. Unlike he, who could live for centuries, they would age and become frail, dying rather than serving him eternally.

Something had to be done.

So it was that he dedicated his powers to the study of the construct. He thought he might prefer an army of automata to the service of these frail creatures. But he found, to his disappointment, that lifeless automata brought him no joy; their worship was hollow, their obeisance devoid of awe and fear.

And then inspiration struck. Dismantling his construct minions, he began the process of magically (and painfully) grafting their parts onto his kobolds. Over the generations, these creatures began to demonstrate the sturdiness and resilience of their mechanical forebears, while still retaining the vitality and emotions of their kobold progenitors. In time, these beings became known as the Drath, and their descendants have since scattered across the world.

Physical Description: Drath generally resemble short, reptilian kobolds, but with one key difference - parts of a Drath's body are covered in metal, as though sheets of the stuff had been melted onto its skin. The location, size, and number of these "false scales," as the Drath call them, vary from one to the next. These plates are not painful, and are in fact deceptively flexible.

Society: Drath society, like the Drath themselves, resembles kobold society. Drath are traditionally organized into warrens, centered around family, and they tend to organize around powerful beings. However, as they consider themselves superior to ordinary kobolds, so too are their standards higher; Drath are often known to reject those leaders whom they find undeserving of their otherwise slavish obedience.

Unlike regular kobolds, however, Drath are unfailingly loyal to their own. Their construct tendencies have given them a colder, more pragmatic view, and they see themselves as aspects of a single entity; each Drath contributes uniquely to the whole, and each Drath has value. Of course, anyone outside of the community is either a threat, a pawn, or a target.

Because they do not need to eat, breathe, or sleep, Drath are brutally efficient workers, constantly expanding their tunnels, designing more elaborate traps and passages, and delving into more hazardous environments. Because of a lack of a need to breathe, the Drath do not fear underground gas deposits or lakes, instead recognizing them as a superior form of environmental defense. Drath explorers and engineers are constantly on the look out for new ways to terraform and weaponize their surroundings.

Relations: Drath are generally cautious, often to the point of cowardice, around other races. However, where they feel superior, they are known to exercise it in the form of dominance and arrogance. They have a particular loathing for kobolds, whom they see as "defective prototypes" preceding the superior form of the Drath.

Alignment: Drath tend to be Lawful, with a leaning towards Evil. Even those who are not Evil tend to share their race's natural ambitions towards being better and stronger than others, and being praised for it.

Adventurers: Drath adventurers sometimes leave the warren in shame, due to having acted outside of their role in the greater machine of Drath society. Others leave based on the sudden discovery of inner courage; many Drath find comfort in the warren, and are too cowardly to leave it. Whatever the reason, Drath who adventure seek greatness and glory, hoping to become the person that other people admire.

Ability Score Racial Traits: Drath are sturdy and cunning, but not pleasant company. They gain +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, and -2 Charisma.
Size: Drath are Small creatures and thus gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on their combat maneuver checks and to Combat Maneuver Defense, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Type: Drath are humanoids with the reptilian and half-construct subtypes.
Half-Construct: A half-construct race has the following features: Half-constructs gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease, mind-affecting effects, poison, and effects that cause either exhaustion or fatigue. Half-constructs cannot be raised or resurrected. Half-constructs do not breathe, eat, or sleep, unless they want to gain some beneficial effect from one of these activities. This means that a half-construct can drink potions to benefit from their effects and can sleep in order to regain spells, but neither of these activities is required for the construct to survive or stay in good health.Base Speed: Drath have a base speed of 30 feet.

Day Raider: Some Drath adapt to the surface. Drath with this trait don't have light sensitivity, and have low-light vision instead of darkvision. This racial trait replaces Light Sensitivity and Darkvision.

I'm totally in on this one.

LoyalPaladin (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19000503&postcount=17)

Alright, I've got this one. I hope you don't mind being a PF race, because I don't believe in LA.

I'm going to shamelessly steal Red Fel's format for the races, because I'm lazy. P.S. Thanks for the awesome race Red Fel! They really make me feel like a lazy bum with their constant training and ambition :smalltongue:

History: While Aasimar are the mortal descendants of ancient celestial bloodlines, and responsible for some of the greatest heroes of ancient history, not all their deeds are performed by true Aasimar. Another race, similar in appearance and purity to the Aasimar exist in secret among them.

The Paladine are created by the willful falling of a celestial being to the mortal realm. This celestial spirit, often a lower angel or archon then bonds with the body of a virtuous mortal, usually a human or Aasimar on the brink of death. The act causes the dying mortal to immediately reincarnate, restored to life and blessed by the powers of goodness.

Physical Description: Paladines are near universally handsome or awe inspiring in appearance. They benefit from great physical fitness, coupled with the purity of a celestial soul that causes a light to glow from within their form. Most Paladine who were originally human or Aasimar simply continue to pass themselves off as their former race, and indeed their appearance is, while exceptional, within the bounds of these two races.

Society: Paladines are exceptionally rare, and most simply live their lives in the culture which they were originally from. Those Paladine who do meet others of their kind feel an instant connection and immediately recognize each other for what they are. Through this empathic bond, all Paladine share some connection.

Relations: Universally virtuous, caring and generous, Paladine often find it easy to live and make many friends among good and neutral races. Their zeal and dedication are inspiring and many often find themselves in positions of leadership, at least temporarily.

Alignment: The nature of a Paladine's origin means that they are universally good aligned, although their feelings about Law and Chaos vary across a spectrum.

Adventurers: Paladine are born with a particular goal in mind, often the destruction or redemption of a great evil. This goal is usually the impetus of the original celestial's decision to fall to the mortal world. Whether they succeed at their goal or not, Paladines often continue their crusades against evil, or adventure to champion a particular cause of good on their way.

Ability Score Racial Traits: +2 STR, +2 CON, +2 DEX, -2 INT, +4 CHA. Paladine are notably hardy and possessed of a natural Charm and sense of self.
Size: Paladine are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Type: Paladine are Outsiders with the Native subtype.
Base Speed: The Paladine's base speed is 30 ft.
Languages: Paladine begin play speaking Common and Celestial. Paladine with high Intelligence scores can choose to learn any language they wish (except secret languages like Druidic).

Racial Traits:
Darkvision: Paladine have Darkvision out to 60 ft.
Low Light Vision: Paladine can see twice as far in conditions of dim light.
Celestial Resistance: Paladine gain acid resistance 5, cold resistance 5, and electricity resistance 5.
Eternal Hope: Paladine gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against fear and despair effects. Also, once per day, after a natural roll of 1 on a d20 roll, the Paladine reroll and use the second result.
Inner Glow: All Paladine emit a small amount of light from their skin and hair. This light is rarely enough to see by, but it does give the Paladine a -4 penalty to stealth checks.

Favored Class Options:
Cleric: Add +1/3 to the cleric's channel energy healing.
Paladin: Add +1 to the Paladin's healing with Lay on Hands, but only when the Paladin heals someone other than themselves.
Warpriest: Gain +1/3 uses of Fervor.

Mecha kobolds? I am k with this.

The one thing I'm not k with is the use of half construct. It should burn in a hole which is then filled in and the ground sown with salt. There's a reason my warforged ports still use the Living Construct from 3.5.

Though, after that fit of rage passes, it does fit with the race you have created for me.

And of course I used PF. Something like that in 3.5 would have had like +7 LA. I mean, it has 3 subtypes.

My pleasure. It was almost fun playing with PF's format. And the Altovilla is a surprisingly low-RP race, all things considered, so it should be quite playable.

I know, right? Mecha kobolds. Be afraid.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the half-construct subtype, but it worked better than going full construct-type on this thing, and I really wanted to use it. And I didn't feel like bungling around with a 3.5 port of Living Construct. This also contributes to the favored class choices - they tend to be opportunistic or defensive because, let's face it, dead Drath is dead. Like, super-dead.

It is, however, a monster when it comes to RP; a quick count gives me: Half-Construct: 7 RP Natural Armor/Crystalline Form: 2 RP Cornered Fury/Lucky, Greater: 4 RP Darkvision: 2 RP Light Sensitivity: -1 RPThat's a total of 14 RP, the equivalent of a Drow. So, yeah, that's probably equal to at least +1 LA in 3.5 terminology.

Eh, I just port it wholesale. And PF actually doesn't treat Race Points as level adjusting until you pass 20, IIRC. I mean, Aasimar are 15.

Fair point, but remember that 3.5 Aasimar also carry an LA. (Unless you're using Lesser Aasimar, because why aren't you using Lesser Aasimar?)

Keledrath (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?21712-Keledrath)

Keledrath has already been done, but damn it I'm going to do him.

Description: Kelecast are a humanoid creature made of a shimmering silver-blue liquid metal.

History: The Librarian of the Rudisplorker's Guild and archivist of all knowledge they had, Keledrath had studied for centuries the Warforged of the plane of Eberron and their interactions with other worlds. He saw that these creatures lacked a soul, but were able to experience life almost to the quality of how a living creature could. The creation of this race by House Cannith had caused Keledrath to decide to go ahead with the creation of his own race, it wouldn't be long before Keledrath would come to the conclusion that the missing ingredient of a Warforged was in fact, a soul. Thus Keledrath did something nobody had ever done before. After years of toil he gathered the other esteemed members of the Rudisplorkers' Guild before him to share with them his great discovery and the experiment he would attempt.
Keledrath had forged a great machine, designed with a humanoid shaped cast for a substance to flow into, grappling the peak of his creation, Keledrath fueled the contraption using the energy of the Astral Plane, fed the machine some of the warmth from his soul and fed the silvery mist with the Astral energy powering the device. This synthetic soul dissolved into a silvery liquid as it flowed down the machine and into the cast. Keledrath had done the impossible, he had created a soul and given it a body. Moments after Keledrath had ceased feeding the machine, the cast seemed to open on its own, pushing it aside from within was a sleek silvery blue humanoid creature.
The creature quickly became a close friend to the guild and for the next decade, was trained to be a member of the guild itself by each Rudisplorker. Eventually though, it had expressed a desire for companionship from another of its kind. The High Rudisplorker gave it a choice, either it stay as the only one of its kind and join the Rudisplorkers' Guild, or have a mate created by Keledrath and leave to find its own place in the cosmos, either way the machine would be dismantled permanently. It chose to leave the safety of the Rudisplorkers' Guild with a new mate, once Keledrath had crafted a second of its kind using the machine, the guild watched in sadness as the machine was torn apart and all knowledge of how to build it was sealed in the forbidden section of the Library, where it would remain locked until the end of time. The guild members said a tearful farewell to the creature, with Keledrath losing his children, the High Rudisplorker promised them that they could return any time they wished and that their descendants may join the guild should they prove themselves. Then he declared the birth of a new race, the Kelecast.

Society: 0, the first Kelecast had decreed that the society of his people should only incorporate what is useful to them and that self sufficiency should be a virtue for all Kelecast settlements. The Rule of 0 is the law of the Kelecast which each settlement follows, the Kelecast capital of 01010010 01110101 01100100 01101001 01110011 01110000 01101100 01101111 01110010 01101011 01101001 01100001 (or Golem City) is often seen as nothing more than a city sized machine by other races, though Kelecast are ready to adopt other cultures, especially if they see any benefit to them.
Additionally, all Kelecast writings are in binary.

Relations: Rule of 0 decrees that Kelecast settlements must be capable of self sustenance, but also demands that Kelecast be respectful of those who already have their place in the cosmos, Kelecast were born from a merging of cultures and the centuries long collaboration of other races, so they like to extend their gratitude by hosting as many members of other races in their settlements as possible without conflict. They are gracious hosts, with rumour that their hospitality is so beloved and renowned, that it attracted petitioners from Elysium.

Alignment: Usually Lawful Neutral

Adventurers: All Kelecast are granted experience in adventure, some learn how to wield magic, others learn the art of war, there are those who spend their short adventuring career learning how to avoid battle. Most Kelecast learn to harness their soul into weapons and become a Totemist. Those rare Kelecast that cannot find their place in Kelecast society are allowed to leave to find their own place as adventurers.

Racial Ability Modifiers: +2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma

Size: Medium, as medium creatures Kelecast receive no bonus or penalty based on size.

Type(Subtype): Humanoid (Living Construct)

Living Construct: A living construct is a new subtype of construct, a created being given sentience and free will through powerful and complex creation enchantments. Living constructs combine aspects of both constructs and living creatures, as detailed below.
Features
A living construct derives its Hit Dice, base attack bonus progression, saving throws, and skill points from the class it selects.
Traits
A living construct possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).

Unlike other constructs, a living construct has a Constitution score. A living construct does not gain bonus Hit Points by size but gains (or loses) bonus hit points through a Constitution bonus (or penalty) as with other living creatures.
Unlike other constructs, a living construct does not have Low-light vision or Darkvision unless their race grants them that as an ability.
Unlike other constructs, a living construct is not immune to mind-affecting effects.
Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, and energy drain.
Cannot heal damage on their own, but often can be repaired by exposing them to a certain kind of effect (see the creature’s description for details) or through the use of the Craft Construct feat. A living construct with the fast healing special quality still benefits from that quality.
Living constructs can be affected by spells that target living creatures as well as by those that target constructs. Damage dealt to a living construct can be healed by a cure light wounds spell or a repair light damage spell, for example, and a living construct is vulnerable to a harm spell. However, spells from the healing subschool provide only half effect to a living construct.
Unlike other constructs, living constructs are subject to critical hits, effects requiring a Fortitude save, death from massive damage, nonlethal damage, stunning, ability damage, ability drain, and death effects or necromancy effects.
Unlike other constructs, a living construct can use the run action.
A living construct responds slightly differently from other living creatures when reduced to 0 hit points. A living construct with 0 hit points is disabled, just like a living creature. He can only take a single move action or standard action in each round, but strenuous activity does not risk further injury. When his hit points are less than 0 and greater than –10, a living construct is inert. He is unconscious and helpless, and he cannot perform any actions. However, an inert living construct does not lose additional hit points unless more damage is dealt to him, as with a living creature that is stable.
Can be raised or resurrected.
Does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe, but can still benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items such as heroes’ feast and potions.
Does not need to sleep, but must rest for 8 hours before preparing spells.

Base Speed: 30

Languages: Kelecast understand Common and Binary. Kelecast with a high Intelligence score may choose any language (except secret languages) as bonus languages.

Racial Traits: Kelecast have the following Racial Traits.

Warforged Heritage: Kelecast count as Warforged for the purpose of qualifying for Warforged Rracial Feats.
Shape Soulmeld: All Kelecast are capable of shaping a single Soul Meld. Kelecast with levels in a Meldshaper Class may shape an additional Soul Meld.
Chakra Bind: Kelecast may bind their Soul Meld to a Chakra as a Totemist of half their hit dice, this stacks with levels in Totemist.
Bonus Essentia: Kelecast gain 1 point of Essentia to invest in their Soul Meld.
Keledrath's Soul: All Knowledge Skills are Class Skills for the Kelecast, regardless of what Class they have levels in. Additionally Kelecast gain an four additional Skill points at 1st level and an additional Skill point per hit die.

Level Adjustment: +2

There you go, I hope you like it Keledrath.

Elric has already been done, and done well, but I see Psybomb is up...have to give it a think.

Well, there isn't a rule against making more than one race, so I'll do you as well. That came out a little wrong.

The Aktschians

Once, there was a race of elves that lived in a region, known at the time as the Forest of Aktsch (pronounced Ak-t-sh), who were brilliant architects, designers, people of learning.

They discovered a strange magic that binds soul energy to one or another, usually to magically increase their power. However, this magic was abused by one ruler, known only now as the Shadow Lord of Aktsch. He trapped his own people, experimented on them, stole their souls and bound them to others in an attempt to secure for himself immortality.

He failed. But in his experiments, he tainted the forest in which he lived with soul energy, and over the years it and shadows laid claim to the Aktschian natives, making them what they are today.

+2 Int, +2 Con, -2 Wis: The tainted magic that affected the natives of Aktsch has left them hardy survivors and intelligent creatures. However, the dark magics have also eroded their sense of judgement, somewhat.
+2 Racial bonus on Concentration and Survival checks: The Aktsch have become adept at surviving in their forests, and are uncannily capable of long term concentration. An Aktsch's thousand-yard-stare has long since fueled the nightmares of their prey.
Shadow Brand (Su): Aktsch's souls are forever bound to the forest they call home. When they die, their souls do not pass on to an afterlife, regardless of who they are or what they have done in their lives. Their body may fall, but saint or sinner, they return to Aktsch. This means that they cannot be resurrected with anything short of True Resurrection or Wish, unless the spell is cast on their body while it is within the forest of Aktsch. Also, resurrection spells cast there on an Aktschian are treated as having +1 CL for all purposes related to the spell.
Blood Totem (Su): Aktsch can bind bits of their soul into animals native to their forest. These animals are therein referred to as the Aktschian's 'Blood Totem', and are loyal to the Aktschian. An unwilling animal (as all the most powerful ones are) must succeed on a Fortitude Save equal to 10 + 1/2 the Aktschian's class level + the Aktschian's Constitution modifier. This is a mind-affecting abiltiy. Treat the animal, for all intents and purposes, as being Charmed, without a duration. An Aktschian can only have one Blood Totem at a time.
Humanoid (Elf, Aktschian): Aktschian are strange creatures, but they are still descendents of the Elves of old.
Favored Class: I don't do this on principle. However, if anyone else would like to come up with pathfinder-style Favored Class options, be our guest.
Level Adjustment: +0

Physical Description: A consistent physical description of the Iz would be nearly impossible, as each one reincarnates upon death into a new body of a new race, no Iz ever possesses a consistent form, although they are always themselves.

Society: As there are only ever 42 Iz, they do not possess a true society of their own, although once every 100 years they will gather at a remote monastery location to share with each other the experiences they've had across their multiple lives.

Relations: Iz tend to be quiet and reflective, but are very accepting of other points of view and nurture the beliefs and ideals of others through both active support and playing "Asmodeus's Advocate."

Alignment: Iz tend towards neutrality across their multiple lives, although any individual life they live could be of any alignment.

Adventurers: Iz seek self improvement and the improvement of others, this desire to test oneself is what leads most Iz to a life of adventure.

Ability Score Racial Traits: Iz gain a +2 to any one mental score and a +2 to any one physical score of their choice. (2 RP)
Size: Iz are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Type: Iz are Humanoids with the Iz subtype.
Base Speed: Iz have a base speed of 30 feet.
Languages: Iz begin play speaking Common. Iz with high intelligence scores can learn any language of their choice (barring secret languages like druidic).
Racial Traits:
Defensive Training, Greater (4 RP): Iz gain a +2 dodge bonus to Armor Class.
Mind of Iron (1 RP): Iz gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws.
Healthy (2 RP): Iz gain a +4 bonus on Fortitude saves against disease and poison, including magical diseases.
Lifebound (2 RP): Iz gain a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws made to resist death effects, saving throws against negative energy effects, Fortitude saves made to remove negative levels, and Constitution checks made to stabilize if reduced to negative hit points.
Multitalented (2 RP): Iz choose two favored classes at 1st level and gain +1 hit points or +1 skill rank whenever they take a level in either of those classes.
Insight of a Past Life (Special): If an Iz with a favored class that offers a pool of resources (such as Ki, grit, panache or arcane points) multiclasses, his levels in other classes count as 1/2 of a level in his favored class to determine the size of his resource pool.
Reincarnate (Special): Whenever an Iz dies, his soul reincarnates in a new body 1d4 years later. This Iz is essentially a new character, but may still retain some memories of his or her previous lives.

Alternate Racial Traits:
Physiological Memory (Special): choose one racial ability from another race (such as Orc Ferocity, Hatred or Elven Immunities). The Iz now possesses that racial ability. This replaces Insight of a Past Life.
Borrowed Talent (Special): Choose a racial favored class bonus. The Iz counts as the chosen race for purposes of gaining that favored class bonus. This replaces Multitalented.

Favored Class Options:
Monk: add +1/4 point to the monk's Ki Pool.
Gunslinger: add +1/4 point to the Gunslinger's Grit Pool.
Magus: add +1/4 point to the Magus's Arcane Pool.
Swashbuckler: add +1/4 point to the Swashbuckler's Panache Pool.
Bard: add +1 round of Bardic Performance.
Barbarian: add +1 round of Rage.
etc.

I am looking to tweak the Kelecast.

Yes those are obvious references to obviousness.

The only issue I see is that it's a Humanoid with Living Construct. Which I'm not sure is legal. And I'm not sure if that makes it good or bad.

I basically wanted to give Warforged a Soul and make them eligible for a bunch of Spells and Templates, without having to jump through Savage Species shaped hoops.

I'll go back and put in an Aging Effects table, Kelecast grow old, just like Warforged. :smallwink:

Perhaps something about their afterlife, something Warforged are incapable of experiencing.

XD

Speaking of which, I've run out of BB code space in my sig. I'll have to get all of the links shortened on bitly or something before writing another thread.

I don't know if I have made a big enough splash in the forum yet but here goes!
I * instert name here* do hereby give permission for the creation of a really incredibly awesome race related to my GITP account.

I hardly think the Iz deserve a +99 level adjustment. They've got good defenses, and some abilities that encourage multiclassing. At most I'd give them a +2 level adjustment considering their +2 to Will and effective +2 - +4 to Fortitude. The only really broken thing about them is Physiological Memory, and you can't do much worse than grab a Bonus feat because Racial abilities are different than Monster abilities in Pathfinder.

I hardly think the Iz deserve a +99 level adjustment... in Pathfinder.

I fail to see how it cogent when it trashes every other PF race (where LA is irrelevant) and is capable of spellcasting ALA Phaerim in 3.5, since the real rules of monsters make no distinction between PCs and monsters (as they should). The +99 is hyperbolic, but you get the point. :smalltongue:

You've been sitting around since the first page of the thread, so I'll stat you. I'll edit this post for when I finish the race. Have no fear, Atemu is here! (dear god, that actually wasn't the worst rhyme I've ever made)

Let me know if anyone has a problem with me statting more than one or two.

And here it is:

Illvenites

The Illvenites were a race born of the pages of a book, unlike any other that has ever existed.

They were once simple characters, the product of the mind of a mad artist, whose name is now lost to time. He drew a world of his own, drawing inspiration from none but the very key ideals of his own mind. This drew the attention of the gods of madness and the gods of beauty, for his work was nothing if not beautiful.

He drew for years, stopping barely to eat, sleep or drink, talking to none, keeping no company but his work. And so, upon his deathbed, he intoned the name of the Goddess Irashiel, who took pity upon him, and with a kiss departed with his soul to the afterlife. But the story does not end here.

One does not sacrifice their mortal life to art without cause. Some spark, perhaps madness, perhaps beauty, perhaps life itself, survived in his works. From his pages crawled the first Illvenites, as they called themselves. First only a few came forth, but they were indeed beautiful, and soon, more sprang forth from his art, each helping another through until all that was left of the Mad Artist's work was blank canvas.

The Illvenites are akin to art in form, given flesh and life. They are almost human, almost elfin, and still many other things have been seen. Their eyes are slightly larger than usual, their skin fairer, and their bodies taller and thinner. Their hair varies far more in color than a human, from white to black to green to purple, and in far more shades with each generation as opposed to the last. They are described quite often as 'inhumanly' beautiful.

+2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma, -2 Wisdom: Illvenites are beautiful and insightful, but many lack foresight in their own right. They can often see through a puzzle with remarkable clarity, but they have difficulty grasping everyday life and its foibles.
Illvenites gain two bonus languages at first level, as if from a high intelligence score; Illvenites are greatly skilled linguists. Despite being descended from art, all manner of performances are far from alien to them.
Illvenites gain a +2 racial bonus on Perform skills, and Perform is always a class skill for them. Being born of art makes one naturally inclined towards the arts.
Illvenites are proficient with rapiers and daggers. They have a natural talent for these weapons.
Mysterious Life (Su): Illvenites see life as filled with mystery. They gain a +2 bonus on saves made to disbelieve an illusion.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): 1/day: Charm Person, 3/day: Prestidigitation, Summon Instrument. Illvenites have a caster level for these spell-like abilities akin to a bard of their level.
Humanoid (Illvenite): Illvenites, despite their unique creation, are humanoids.
Base Land Speed is 30 ft.
Favored Class: If it needs one, let it be bard. For the love of the gods, let it be bard.
Level Adjustment: +0.

Any thoughts, Playground?

It might need a level adjustment.

This'll be my next project.

I'll edit this post when it's ready.

And here we are.

Garrotites

Garrotites are a race of small fey-like creatures, native to the material plane, who specialize in the art of creating new and powerful technologies, weapons, and magic items. They are exceptionally gifted artificers.

Even to their greatest scholars, the origins of the mysterious Garrotites are unknown. They seem to have originated from the planes of Fey, and they seem to be infused with a great degree of magic. However, they seem to also be part of the material plane, and have been there for a long time.

Most Garrotites worship a deity known as G'arreth, a strange god who is an ascended member of their own kind.

Garrotites are around the size of halflings, though much thinner and wirier. They are prone to fits of manic inventive talent, though these seem more common in teenage and adult Garrotites, and fade in number and in power when they age. They have violently coloured hair, usually red, green, blue or even pink, and they often dress in colors that match.

+2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Wisdom: Garrotites are ferociously individual, each with a distinct and often charming personality. They are dextrous, and are prone to get underfoot of the larger races, who they refer to colloquially as "Biguns".
Fly (Su): Despite lacking wings, Garrotites have a limited ability to fly. They can fly at 20 ft. with Good maneuverability.
Manic Inspiration (Ex): Once per day per five levels, on a roll of a natural 1 on a Skill Check based off of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma, they can treat it as a natural 20.
Garrotites receive a racial +2 bonus on Spellcraft and Use Magic Device checks. They are naturals at figuring out the nature of magic.
Humanoid (Garrotite): Garrotites are a distinctly individual race.
Base Land Speed: 20 ft. Garrotites are slower than their longer-legged counterparts, and envy Goblins their speed.
Favored Class: Artificer (I've given up on making a difference :smallfrown:.
Level Adjustment: +0.

I'm a bit worried about the LA +0 on this one. Fly is pretty powerful, and Manic Inspiration might be abusable. What does the Playground think?

Let's see how I do with this one. I'll post the results via edit when I'm done.

Also, I'd do myself, but I'd like to see what someone else thinks of me so...?

And here we are...

The Araezer

The Araezer are a race born to turmoil and emotion. Their story is a strange one, as was their conception.

An ancient wizard, far beyond the age for it, realized that she wished to have a child. She knew she had missed the natural opportunity, and was loath to summon a celestial or demon that could fulfill the basic requirements therein. So she delved deep into arcane knowledge, to try and accomplish what she wanted.

She found nothing. For years, she wished, and all her emotion, all her rage at the universe denying her her child, she found in that what she needed. Releasing all her rage, she turned that pure, undiluted emotion into a single arcane spark, which she could turn into a child.

She gave birth to twins, one male, one female. Those children grew to adulthood, miraculously she survived to see them to adulthood. The boy, named Aran, and the Girl, Eren. These two went off on their own and both found mates among the races of humans. Both bred true, producing more of their kind, but after about twenty generations they ceased to be able to produce more of their kind. But those twenty generations produced not a mere subrace but a race of its own kind, a powerful race imbued with magic.

The Araezer appear for the most part human. They are inclined towards red hair, but this seems to be less a race trait and more a quirk of hereditary. The only true difference, it is said, lies in their eyes. To look in their eyes, they say, is to look into the heart of a storm and see its true tumult.

[*}+2 Constitution, +2 Charisma, -2 Wisdom: The Araezer are hardy and deeply emotional, and these emotions can sometimes sway others to their side, or can cause them to be blind to the danger of their actions. This causes Good Araezer to be fearless champions of their ideals, but can cause the rage of an Evil Araezer to be something fierce to behold.
Humanoid (Human, Araezer): Araezer are deeply human, despite the magic that suffuses them.
Shout (Su): Araezer have a powerful attack born of their deep emotion. They can shout, and have the sheer power of it affect their enemies. This scream deals 1d6 x 1/2 their character level sonic damage, but once used deeply drains the Araezer. An Araezer who uses this ability takes 1 point of constitution damage, which can be recovered but only at the rate of 1 point per day. This ability is a Sonic, Mind-Affecting ability.
Araezer are suffused with magic, giving them a predilection towards it. This manifests first with a racial +2 bonus on Knowledge (Arcana) and Spellcraft checks. Secondly, it also grants them the ability to use magic items as if they had access to the Sorcerer spell list.
Base Land speed for an Araezer is 30 ft.
Favored Class: Sorcerer.
LA: +0

I may go through and make everyone here. Because I need a distraction, and this is fun. Next up I kind of want to do LoyalPaladin.

And here it is.

Noritects

The Noritects were once an army. Born and bred of an ancient kingdom, they were soldiers, ready to die defending their land. But then, a great evil came. It tried to wipe out their homeland, including them. They were forced back into a valley, were they were slaughtered en masse. But so loyal were they to their cause, to their king, and to their people, they denied death itself, and their glorious afterlife, to return to their bodies and bring peace. A god of life and death, Ferrinor, saw fit that they return to their bodies, and with it went his blessing. They returned, no longer human, but the first Noritects.

Noritects look almost human. They are tall and strong, usually with iron-gray hair. Note that this isn't throughout their entire life. Like many races, their hair grays throughout their lives. Noritects simply have this occur during adolescence as opposed to convalescence. Their eyes, however, are always stormcloud gray.

+2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma: Noritects are flawless in strength of body and in spirit. It is said no foe has ever broken the mind of a Noritect, a sterling beacon against the forces of darkness.
Outsider (Native, Human, Noritect): Noritects are human as well as Noritect.
Noritects gain a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks; they are naturals at peace as well as war.
Ghostbane (Su): Ferrinor returned the Noritects to life with a special gift- to be able to return the restless dead, no matter what their state, to the grave. Anytime a Noritect wields a weapon against an Incorporeal undead, their weapons are treated as possessing the Ghost Touch special quality.
Sterling Honor (Ex): Noritects face a racial conditioning that impairs their ability to lie to their superior officers. When trying to lie to one of their superior officers, they take a -8 penalty on Bluff checks. However, if they do this knowing it is for a good cause, they do not take this penalty. This trait can be suppressed with a DC 15 Will Save, made daily to suppress it for the day.
Death's Spurn (Ex): Noritects are remarkably difficult to turn into undead. Any such attempt must succeed on a DC 30 Caster Level check.
Base Land Speed is 30 ft.
Favored Class: Crusader (You know I'm just kidding)
Level Adjustment: +1.

LA: +0

Ok, Tvtyrant, here it is:

Dominites

Dominites are a race of winged reptilian humanoids native to high, arid peaks deep in desert land. The story of their creation is a mysterious one; it is said that they were made from the sands, by a great force of creation. Some say a god. Some say a powerful being in its own right. The debate over this has been waged for centuries in the Dominite cities, where the passtime is debate; it is to them as poker or sport is to other races. Their family unit consists of two parents and one child. They live for near three hundred years, and a child goes out into the world nearing its fourtieth, but they are fertile from then until almost their two hundred and fiftieth year. Dominites mate for life.

Dominites are humanoid in shape, yet covered by scales. These scales are usually light brown or dark green, though among the rarer colours are gray, black and the absolute rarest is pure white. They have large, leathery batlike wings of the same color.

+2 Constitution: Dominites are hardy desert dwellers.
Fly Speed (Ex): Dominites with 6 or more hit dice have a natural fly speed of 60 ft., with average maneuverability.
+2 racial bonus on Climb and Survival checks: Dominites have a natural ability to climb and survive on their own.
Glide Speed (Ex): A Dominite with less than 6 hit dice can glide 30 ft. per 10 feet of drop.
Sight (Ex): Dominites have low-light vision and darkvision with a range of 30 ft.
Favored Class: Any.
Level Adjustment: +0.

Sure, I give permission (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19000353&postcount=11). These are always pretty fun.

I'll have something for someone up a little later today.

Alright, you're next up on the list.

When I'm done with all the ones who already asked and haven't received, I'll go back and try the ones who have.

This post will be edited when I'm done.

And here we go.

Vollaen

Vollaen are the children of dragons. Centuries ago, deep underground, a race of subterranean humans known as the V'ol were enslaved by a group of black dragons. These black dragons made cruel experiments on their slaves, producing much death, great destruction, and by the end of the dragons' rule the Vollaen were born. Nothing created of that much chaos and death is ever innocent, and the Vollaen are no exception. The death of their masters led to them expanding outwards, eventually leaving the underdark and finding their way to the surface. Though at first they were only a few hundred in number, they banded together and through strength of arms, culled themselves a place in the world. However, a coalition of nations managed to defeat them, and as such, they were broken up and separated, and are now a part of other nations. That war, which took place so many centuries ago, is all but forgotten, save by the scholars and the dead. The Vollaen face prejuidice not for their role in that conflict, but for their dragon heritage. Many Vollaen dislike humans, ironically, despite their own humanity.

Vollaen look, for the most part, human. However, they all have ebony-black, shiny hair. They are all pale, strong, yet thin. Many describe them as lithe. They possess none of their dragon ancestors' magical abilities, but magic is an aptitude for many of them. Another key difference is that their nails always grow black and sharp, not enough for actual combat, but enough to be noticeable.

+2 Charisma: Vollaen trade humans' skillful aptitude for increased personality and powerful emotions. Many are also considered beautiful, though neither humanity nor the Vollaen would ever admit that about the other.
Humanoid (Human, Dragonblood): Vollaen are human, despite their many protests to the contrary. A child between a human, rare though it is for social reasons, stands a fifty percent chance of being a Vollaen or a human.
Bonus Feat: Vollaen gain a bonus feat at first level. They share some of their forebearer's aptitude for discovery.
Favored Class: Sorcerer. They also possess the ability to gain a second favored class, as a human would select their first.
Level Adjustment: +0

I like this one. It turned out well. I still think it might be weaker than Silverbrow humans, though.

WhamBamSam (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19000482&postcount=16) gives permission.

Well, you're up to bat. I'll try and make another, though their could possibly be some delay to this one.

No one's getting tired of me, right?

Valarites

The origin of Valarites is a mystery, at least to most. It is said that they are descended from magical beasts, given form and function. The truth is strange, to say the least.

In centuries long past, a wizard and his assistant sought to discover the secret of magical hybridization. The results were a mixed bag, to say the least. However, in one of his last experiments, he tried to bind animal essences into human form. In this case, his assistant. The result was his assistant mutated vastly into a furry, winged creature. The wizard could not fix his mistake, so as consolation made a mate for his former assistant from those same essences. And the rest, as it is said, is history.

: Valarites are large, bipedal, fur-covered creatures. They are exceedingly rare, but biologically immortal. They are broad and strong, but even then their minds are just as great if not more so than most. They often become wizards. They have brown fur, eyes that vary in shade about as much as humans, two vestigial horns, and thick legs and arms.

+2 Constitution, -2 Dexterity, -2 Charisma: Valarites are strongly built, but many are disgusted by their appearance and they often have reserved appearances.
Base land speed is 30 ft.
Humanoid (Valarite): Valarites have long lost their humanity.
Valarites have a +2 racial bonus on Handle Animal, Knowledge (Arcana) and Spellcraft checks. Their animal essence seems to make animals feel safe around them, and they are naturally skilled with magic.
Powerful Build (Ex): For the purpose of grappling checks, weapon sizes, and carrying capacity, Valarites are treated as large creatures.
Favored Class: Any. This at least remains from their past as a human.
Level Adjustment: +0.

This race, I think, needs a little bit of help. Anyone got an idea on the balance of it?

Do my race if you like :)

And now you're up. This one may take a while. But, what can I say?

I'll edit this post when it's done.

Akatites

There is a saying among humans that, "History that is not remembered repeats itself". This is the philosophy of the Akatite.

They were once a race of humans, who chose to create a library of knowledge that would last the ages. As such, they chose to make it in the Astral Plane. This plane, known for its power, would be the home of some five hundred members of the order. Back then, the order was known as the Order of Akaton, a god of knowledge. But over the centuries, the power of the plane in which they lived, casting divinations to discover new things and write it down, changed them. They became the Akatites, a race who values knowledge above all else.

They are rare on the material plane, but are still native to it, strangely. Despite their oft living on the Astral Plane, none of them is actually native to it.

Akatites look human, but are perhaps more olive in skin tone and perhaps a bit more regal. They often dress in either robes or armor, but never will they go without either. They dislike clothing that does not conceal figure, perhaps for some historical reason, or perhaps particular preference.

+2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: In body, Akatites are much the same as humans. In mind, they are canny and wise beyond their years, but many are ultimately reserved personalities, perhaps to allow the flow of history to take its course without their diverting it.
Outsider (Native, Akatite): Akatites are outsiders native to the Material Plane. They have left their humanity behind in favor of lengthened lifespans and heightened minds.
Spell-Like Abilities: 3/day: Identify, 1/day Shield (Caster level equal to character level).
Scion of Knowledge (Ex): An Akatite Wizard gains a bonus spell to add to its spell book every fifth level. Also, an Akatite who has not been permanently banned from their monastery may research spells at their monastery without paying to gain access to another wizard's spellbook.
Akatites have a +2 racial bonus on all Knowledge skills.
Favored Class: Wizard.
Level Adjustment: +1

EDIT: Link now properly active.

And next up is...

The Psykal

The Psykal are a race dedicated to merging arcane magic and blade magic. They are said to be the descendents of Psyus, whose patient training led their ancestors to the way. How they became such unique creatures is largely unknown. It is said that Psyus gave each of them a bit of his spirit, and from that they changed.

The Psykal appear almost human. They are a little diminished in stature, but they make up for this by being powerful combatants.

+2 Intelligence, +2 Dexterity: Psykal are intelligent and quick combatants.
Psykal receive a racial +2 bonus on Martial Lore and Spellcraft checks.
Stare of the Ages (Ex): In a Duel of Wills, a Psykal gains a +2 racial bonus on skill checks.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): Psykal can use True Strike and Greater Magic Weapon twice per day as a Sorcerer equal to their character level.
Favored Class: Wizard and Swordsage.
Level Adjustment: +0.

Yeah, I've never seen Elric do...anything with sorcerers.

Also, on the subject of the Vollaen, you were comparing them to Silverbrow. You said you thought Silverbrow were stronger, but comparing the two...
Both have bonus feat and Dragonblood subtype
Silverbrow gets Feather Fall a few times/day and +2 to Disguise (and Disguise as a class skill)
Vollaen gets +2 Cha

I think Vollaen comes out WAY ahead on that. For casters in particular, but even in general.

I based a bit of the appearance off of your avatar. I then wanted to create a race that was LA +0, so I stripped down Powerful Build. I don't quite remember my reasoning on the other bit, mostly because I typed it when I couldn't sleep at 2 in the morning.

I also did the same with Vollaen. Though that one I passed out partway through. If you'd like, I could try again.

Well, I've made it. Tell me what you think. I look forward to hearing about you playing with yourself.

Also, innuendo is fun.

Athredites

Athredites are the children of fey; the product of elves, some unknown race of fey and humans all taking a place in their family tree. Whatever led to their creation is a mystery to all, scholars of the Athredites and scholars of other races as well. Personality-wise, Athredites are often highly individualistic, beholden to neither tyrant nor to a ruler by blood. Though they recognize the benefits of leadership, they hate the yoke of law, and fight against unjust ones set against the oppressed.

Athredites, at first look, seem closer to elves than humans, but not quite there. They are often mistaken for half-elves, and their ears do have a small point to them, but they are neither elf nor man. Their hair varies slightly more than humans do, having the normal human range but also snow white, though this is rarer than most.

Athredites are often jovial; they love a good tale, and one of their most charming traditions is the group-tale. Four or five Athredites will sit around a fire, and one will start to tell a tale. Then another will take part in the tale, and soon all of them will be talking, weaving the threads of a story together. Some are great, some are awful, but all are remembered fondly.

+2 Charisma, +2 Wisdom, -2 Strength: Athredites are often built a bit more frail than humans, but make up for that with a charming personality and the good advice that is oft born of strange wisdom.
Humanoid (Athredite): Athredites are distinctly their own race.
Base Land Speed is 30 ft.
Fleet-of-Foot (Su): Athredites have a potent ability in the form of the ability to move quickly when the need strikes them. Once per day, they can use Fleet-of-Foot to imitate the simultaneous casting of Longstrider and Haste, with a caster level equal to their character level. This ability lasts a number of round equal to their charisma modifier.
Unique Personality(Ex): Athredites gain a +2 bonus on saves against spells with the (Mind-Affecting) descriptor.
+2 racial bonus on Concentration and Perform (Oratory): Athredites can concentrate on stories for an extended period of time, and are quite good at telling tales. These skills can become useful for other things, throughout their lifetime.
Favored Class: Bard.
Level Adjustment: +0

I'm probably the newest to anime in general on this thread.

I'll hand it off to Keledrath, here...

I recommend Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

So much this. And, if you like TTGL, take a gander at Kill la Kill, for a look at what Kamina would be like as a schoolgirl.

I could make other recommendations, but this isn't quite the right thread for it... Um... Back on topic...

This is going to be wonderful. Ten bucks says Red Fel ends up with an archduke template.

No bet. :smallcool:

A little disappointed that there isn't a whole lot for Tier 1s, but it's the middle man Class between Monk and any Tier 1s, so it's all good.

Looks good for a Leadership and Diplomacy build, I'll have to see if aia can convince someone to DM a Campaign where these Races will be used.

Not that i expect people to remember me much, it has been far too long since i have been really active on giants. I need to come around here more often.

On the subject of anime i have to say, gurren lagann and kill la kill are ok, but i would much rather recommend angel beats (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Anime/AngelBeats) or if you are willing to take a chance on something a bit more out there and aren't afraid of a magical girl series, puella magi madoka magica (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica). I'm also a huge fan of the hellsing ultimate ovas (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manga/Hellsing).

edit: not really a fan of the original hellsing anime though, according to my friends i might have liked it better if i didn't read the manga first.

Ooh, slice of life. I think my first in that genre was actually Genshiken. (Genshiken counts, right?) My most recent would probably have been I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying (which has an admittedly meta episode about how you feel when a slice of life series ends). I recommend both, particularly the latter.

Seriously, ICUWMHIS is really short. You can watch the entire series in a sitting.

Sorry to get back on topic but I was fianlly able to find the time to make a race! :)

This one is for you Deadline - I hope you like it?

Name: Deathspline
Long ago a tribe of devils was banished from their home realm by a rival tribe. The ousted tribe bounced through Limbo, staying together only by sheer force of will. After a seeming eternity, the devils were thrust into the plane of Mechanus. The abruptness of their arrival and the chaotic taint that had suffused them while in Limbo was enough to shatter an entire gear before they were stopped.

As punishment for their transgression, the devils were transformed and tasked with the protection and repair of the gears. Over the millennia, this new species became known as Deathsplines.
Alignment: Deathsplines are always Lawful and tend to lean towards LN.
Deathsplines are creatures of logic and balance. They often have difficulty understanding irrational and impulsive behaviours of other races. Their appearance makes them outsiders wherever they go despite their willingness to accept others for who they are. Deathsplines are not repulsed by those of other alignments as they know that all things require balance.
Deathsplines tend to be a close knit community devoted to their ongoing mission of protection and repair. Members of their community have assigned roles based on their particular nature and strengths.
Occasionally it is necessary for a Deathspline to chase an intruder to another realm in order to prosecute them. Deathsplines occasionally leave Mechanus by order of a deity in order to obtain knowledge to be shared among their community upon their return. In some rare cases, a Deathspline has been kidnapped in order to make use of their mechanical aptitude and their ability to reason logically.
It is rare for a Deathspline to leave Mechanus without a strong logical reason.
Deathsplines are unique in appearance as the experiences of their ancestors infused their being with pure chaos and absolute law. The result is a somewhat comical looking being unlike any other.

Deathsplines are cubes that when born are only a few inches across but will vary between three and four feet across in adulthood. They are possessed of deceptively spindly arms and legs and a pair of draconic wings. Their limbs and wings are always proportional to their body using the universal constant of phi (the golden number). They possess devil-like feet and have angel-like hands.

Five sides of their body are covered in various arcane runes with the sixth side (opposite the wings) bearing a two dimensional face. This face functions as a normal face complete with a functional mouth, eyes and nose but is restricted to the plane of cube face. The runes and facial features are always in black (unless their body is black and then they are a strange pale blue); they can be any colour but their wings will always be the exact opposite of their body.
Racial Ability modifiers: +1 Strength, +2 Constitution, +1 Intelligence, -2 Charisma. While Deathsplines may be stronger, hardier and more logical than others, their unique appearance makes social situations among other races somewhat disconcerting.
Type: Lawful Outsider
Size: Medium
Base Speed: 30
Languages: Abyssal, Common, Deathsplines with a high Intelligence score may choose any language (except secret languages) as bonus languages.
• Fly Speed (Ex): Deathsplines with less than 6 hit dice have a natural fly speed of 30 ft. with average manoeuvrability. Deathsplines with 6 or more hit dice have a natural fly speed of 40 ft., with good manoeuvrability.
• Deathsplines have a +5 racial bonus to jump and balance checks thanks to years of jumping from gear to gear in Mechanus and working on the constantly moving gear faces.
• Deathsplines have a +2 racial bonus to all rolls involving dismantling or repairing mechanical objects. This works on Disable device, open lock, the repair spell when used on a machine or Warforged etc.
• Tainted by Limbo: Deathsplines can channel the taint left in their beings to overcome their lawful nature for brief periods. Deathsplines are able to enter a Barbarian Rage 1/every 5 HD. This rage follows the same rules as a Barbarian’s rage ability.
• Gravitational Expert: Due to the constantly changing direction of gravity in Mechanus, Deathsplines have developed the ability to alter the direction of gravity as it affects them. Once per day as a SLA, a Deathspline with 10 or more HD is able to change the perceived direction of gravity as it affects themselves (and only themselves) for a period of 1d6 minutes (or 1d4 rounds of combat).

Favoured Class: Artificer

To repay your kindly offered information, I present to you: the Audinoss.

History: When the gods were young and the planes were in flux, a fifth elemental plane existed. That was the plane of sound. Now the ages passed and the cosmic wheel took shape, thrusting the plane of sound into the chaos, thus springing a new life into existence, the Audinoss. Elemental beings of pure sound. Unlike other elementals, Audinoss are quite common on the prime material. You "see" them every day. The stroke of a harp, a friendly voice, or even the sound of the door closing. The Audinoss are everywhere.

Not many Audinoss become adventurers due to their lack of a physcial form, but some overcome this. Manifesting into a loose physical form, that is corporeal. These Audinoss are forever severed from their incorporeal brethren.

Physical Description: Audinoss appear blurred and grey. Due to their loose form and willful manifestation, the Audinoss can take on any shape or size. The louder the Audinoss was as an incorporeal creature, the larger the size it would be when manifested.

Society: Audinoss are extremely rare in their corporeal form and because of this, they have no culture.

Relations: Audinoss are largely friendly towards those who are musical in natured. They tend to shy away from those who seek to disturb harmony. Audinoss are strangely fond of blind creatures and people.

Alignment: The Audinoss are typically true Neutral and never Lawful or Evil.

Adventurers: Audinoss are well suited to adventuring. They prefer to travel along with a merry bard, or perhaps even fill that roll themselves.

Ability Score Racial Traits: -2 STR, -2 DEX, +6 CHA. Due to their form, Audinoss are not particularly strong or dexterous. They do, however, make up for this by being both witty and well mannered.
Size: Audinoss can be of any size category.
Type: Outsider (Native)
Base Speed: An Audinoss' base speed is 40 ft.
Languages: Audinoss begin play speaking common and any language of their choosing. Audinoss with high Intelligence scores can choose to learn any language they wish (except secret languages like Druidic).

Racial Traits:
Blindsight: Audinoss have Blindsight out to 60 ft.
Damage Reduction: Audinoss have DR 5/Sonic
Sonic Spell: Audinoss have the ability to use Great Thunderclap as a spell like ability 1/day.

Favored Class:

Rudisplorking is a phrase coined by threadnaught that means high-end optimization cheesiness.

You are of course, quite wrong. I just created and run the Rudisplorkers' Guild as High Rudisplorker, see my sig.

Rudisplorking is a term coined by Kazudo (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?87586-Kazudo), who joined the Rudisplorkers' Guild as the King of the Sane, and is also credited with creating Rudisplork.
It was in response to a thread titled Is it possible to cheat at D&D, wherein the OP referred to any form of optimization as cheating. Many posters had hypothesized that the OP was making up definitions for words on the fly, just as they had declared they make up house rules on the fly, it was then that Kazudo stated that what some people may refer to as optimizing, the OP calls cheating, while other tables may call it rudisplorking.

Thus Rudisplorking was created and it means what it has always meant ever since Kazudo coined the term. It could include Pun Pun, or it could merely mean creating/playing a character without rolling a random table for every little thing. Optimizing. Why not just say Optimizing? Where's the fun in that?

Atemu's race from me is to be his welcoming into the Guild.

A race for Lord_Gareth. Hope you like it.

Name: Garetines

The Garetines are a race devoted to innovation and invention. Born originally from a settlement of elves that bordered the faerie kingdoms, the infectious curiosity of the fey lives on in this new race. The exact nature of their origins is a carefully guarded secret, but it is whispered that there exists a transformative ritual through which outsiders may become Garetines themselves.

The Garetines appear at quick glance to be elves, but with some unknown characteristic. Upon closer investigation, the whites of the Garetine's eyes can be seen to emit a slight glow, and their hair colors are often vibrant and varied. Their ears appear longer and more pointed than those of their elven ancestors.

The Garetines function on a pure meritocracy whose goal is invention and discovery. Their high magistracies are reserved for those who create or define new disciplines of thought or fundamental truths. They are avid tinkerers, but this does not solely define them. They are dreamers, jokers, but the moment one person poses a problem to be solved each and every Garetine in the vicinity will offer their input on the solution, collaborating to achieve the greatest result. Their cities and settlements are frequently more scientifically advanced than those of neighboring societies, largely due to their lack of inhibition towards invention. The Garetines will also share their discoveries freely with the world, but only after they themselves are first satisfied with them. They may occasionally seek aid from outside communities or call in experts for advice, but otherwise are incredibly secretive as to the exact status and nature of unfinished projects. Those who are called in for such discussions and produce results are frequently encouraged to undergo the Rite of Ascension, whereupon the creature is transformed from their previous race and becomes a Garetine.

Garetines are actively encouraged to explore the outside world to discover new information or inspiration for their projects. Those who leave are expected to return having obtained some positive result from their travels, and frequently use their experiences to jumpstart their careers or introduce new materials into their society. Garetines are considered to be valuable adventurers for their problem-solving skills and their ingenuity. They frequently come up with solutions to problems their other party members had not considered, and have a knack for solving complex puzzles.

Ability Scores: +2Intelligence, +2 Dexterity, -2 Con
Type: Humanoid(Garetine)
Speed: Base land speed is 30 ft.
Rush of Inspiration (Ex): Three times per day, a Garetine may choose to add a +5 Insight bonus to either an Intelligence or Dexterity check. They must choose to use this ability before rolling.
Collaboration: Garetines may use the Aid Another action on any skill, regardless of whether they are trained in it. Additionally, if they have ranks in that skill, instead increase the bonus provided by an amount equal to 1/2 the number of ranks the Garetine possess in that skill, rounded down.
Skills: Garetines receive a racial +2 bonus to Concentration and one Knowledge skill of their choice. Additionally, one of these skills is always considered a class skill for them.

Alright People! I've got a batch of Races, for the fine creators and contributors to the wonderful thing that is Path of War!

The Battleborn

Type: Battleborn are Humans with the Battleborn Subtype.
Size: Small or Medium, chosen at character creation.
Attributes: Battleborn gain a +2 to any physical stat and a +2 to any mental stat
Base Speed: 30 feet for medium or small Battleborn.
Languages: Battleborn begin speaking common. A Battleborn may take any language, except for secret languages, as bonus languages.

Martial Scion: A Battleborn initiate maneuvers and stances from their class disciplines at +3 Initiator Level, but do not gain a bonus to Initiator Level in any other discipline.

Bonus Feat: A Battleborn gains Discipline Focus in any Discipline they choose as a bonus feat at first level. They do not have to meet the prerequisites for this feat.

Greater Defensive Training: A Battleborn gains a +2 Bonus to Dodge Armor Class.

Fearless: A Battleborn gains a +2 bonus against fear saving throws. (This may be replaced by various Racial Abilities of an appropriate RP value to represent certain Subraces)

Low-Light Vision: A Battleborn can see in conditions of low-light twice as far as humans.

Battleborn with certain combinations of physical and mental bonuses are referred to as various subraces.

Darkhunters(Usually Associated with Stalkers): +2 Dex, +2 Wis, Camouflage (Pick Any One Terrain)
Etc. I won't fill in the rest because I'm lazy.

Adventurers: This is the one part of the fluff I should fill in, so here goes. Battleborn are first and foremost a race born of war and clashing steel, and as such, many take up the blade as various types of warriors, from the stalwart Warders to the mysterious Stalkers. Many new types of warriors have appeared recently among the battleborn, from those who wield elemental power alongside their blade, to those who inspire their allies with their own zeal and passion. Other types of Battleborn may exist, but they are rarer, with the mages being the rarest, something only a few choose instead of the Path of War.

Should probably include more fluff, but I'm too lazy to bother. I like to leave my races open for fluff interpretations by other players.

I really should keep an eye on this thread, otherwise this happens. But I was too busy watching Attack on Titan. Got to the point where the "mysterious" titan is killing other titans for the first time, and I'm all like "Yeah, Yeah, Eren's a Titan/Human mix thing, move on already."

I was told to be impressed by that show, but I found it dull and predictable. The 6 episodes of nothing but flashbacks sure as hell didn't help, either.

it was only a little gif battle quickly escalating to gundam, hellsing, and dbz...

Now go my minions to battle!

also i am more impressed with squid girl than with attack on titan. i wish they would dub the second season.

edit: then again it is unfair to compare an oddball slice of life with a genericish action show.

I'm not entirely sure I'm qualified to call myself a "regular", but I had some threads about tiers and such, so.... requesting race?

EDIT: Preferably a chickenesque one.

Yeah, my friends mentioned it being rather under rated for what it is. However, cool fight scenes and animation are A-OK in my book. Still has more plot than Pacific Rim.

Netflix removed the first season of Black Butler, so so much for that.

Atemu's race from me is to be his welcoming into the Guild.

Do I get a title? Because I kind of want a title.

Gundam is a political thriller.
Attack on Titan is kind of a statement on war and WMDs, but it fell under "do not do this cool thing."

What happened here...?
Absolutely nothing. It's all clear here.

Why are the battleborn listed under "A Dragon Did It"?

1) I didn't see an LA.
2) No LA seems a bit low.
3) I didn't know whose name to put it under.

Snowbluff you're misusing the "A Dragon did it" category. That's for races that exist because a dragon made them.

*shrug* That category would be redundant for the purpose of displaying the races otherwise.

I don't believe in the use of LA, so I don't assign my races an LA. And suprisingly, they're only about 17 RP(What Fetchlings have). RP may very on how highly rated certain racial traits seem to be. Martial Scion could be anywhere from 3 RP to 6 RP, and the Bonus Feat they get ignores Pre-Reqs, so it's more powerful than the Static Bonus Feat standard trait, which is 2 RP, so I gave it a value of 3 RP, though the argument can be made for 4 RP.

I also made the Battleborn as a collective race for some of the major contributers to PoW, i.e. Keledrath, Elricaltovilla, and Lord_Gareth
