The Ring of Positive Protection (MIC) + adding Life warding(SC) either to the item or to myself as a lich would it stop everything positive energy can throw at me?

Lich, huh? Time for some gruesome empirical study.

1.) Create a zombie, give it your magic ring.
2.) Send the zombie to the Plane of Positive Energy
3.) Try to recall the zombie. Failing that, try to recall the ring.

If neither comes back intact, you know not to trust the magic ring. If only the ring comes back intact, you know the ring works to a point.

Is the positive energy plane even lethal to undead?

Well my bad probably should have posted the info of what it protects.

Ring of positive energy protection.

You can ignore the blinding effect of positive-
dominant planes, such as the Positive
Energy Plane. You also do not gain the
fast healing ability usually conferred by
such a plane, nor do you gain additional
hit points when you reach your normal
maximum.
Furthermore, spells that channel positive
energy—typically cure spells—have
no effect on you.

Life warding

A creature warded by this spell gains
protection from the effects of positive
energy, including magical healing. The
spell can be cast upon undead to offer
additional protection against the turning
abilities of clerics. The subject is immune
to all positive energy effects, including
conjuration (healing) spells, channeled
positive energy such as from the turn
undead ability, or other effects that derive
their power from positive energy.
This spell offers protection from the
blinding effect of the Positive Energy
Plane, and warded creatures gain no
temporary hit points while there.

112000/ 56,000gp, 11200xp to make a ring of life warding. it would cover everything the above ring would and then some. so would this work agaisnt everything or not?

Well in the book of exhalted deeds there's an armor ability called soulfire, which confers all the benefits of the deathward spell, i think it would be reasonable tohomebrew a deathward version of it? It's +4, so with a +1 piece of armor (or a buckler perhaps) that comes out to a rather measly 25k for something so good.

Is the positive energy plane even lethal to undead?Good question. I ran into this post a few years ago stating that by RAW, it is not (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=15033923&postcount=10), but there were a number of people on that thread which were willing to house-rule it to be deadly. afroakuma's post here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=18476476&postcount=828) also points out it's an oversight (at the top).

It's like drown-healing, but for Zombies.

Well I imagine it could be a plot hook if the DM decides to run with it. "Why does unchanneled positive energy not affect undead?"
