I've been mucking around with this for a bit, and kinda stall out due to lack of epiphany. How would you go about making a character that puts all of his/her feat resources into making the most crazy combat-effective familiar. I'de like to see some of that playground creativity.

Trade your class feature familiar for something like Abrupt Jaunt, and take Obtain Familiar (CA) so even your prestige class levels improve your familiar.

Get Improved Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#improvedFamiliar) or Celestial Familiar (BoED) or Planar Familiar (PLH) and get a good aligned Outsider familiar, preferably Lantern Archon. It must be an Outsider, so that it gets proficiency in martial weapons (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#outsiderType) and can be Polymorphed into other Outsider forms.

Take Incantatris or Spelldancer or have some means of adding Persistent Spell to your buffs. Take Abjurant Champion (use elf weapon proficiencies to qualify) and get a single level of Paragnostic Apostle for Mind Over Matter.

Get Arcane Disciple for a domain that grants Divine Power, such as Competition (SC) which also gets Righteous Might.

From Share Spells: "Additionally, the master may cast a spell with a target of "You" on his familiar (as a touch range spell) instead of on himself." Note that it does not need to remain within 5 ft. of you to continue benefiting from spells cast on it in this way.

Persistent Draconic Polymorph your familiar into a physically powerful outsider, such as a Kelvezu Demon in MM2 (12 HD, 30 ft land, fly 60 ft good, +15 natural armor, Str 21, Dex 31, Con 16, sneak attack 8d6, poison), and remember that Draconic Polymorph from the Draconomicon increases its Str by 8 and Con by 2.

Persistent Shield gives it +9 AC with Abjurant Champion 5.

Extended Greater Luminous Armor gives it a +15 armor bonus with Abjurant Champion 5 and Mind Over Matter, plus melee attacks against it suffer a -4 penalty.

Persistent Bite of the Werebear gives it an additional Str +16, Dex +2, Con +8, a +7 Enhancement bonus to its current natural armor, two claws and a bite, multiattack, blind-fight, and power attack.

Persistent Divine Power makes its BAB equal your HD, the Str bonus doesn't stack with Bite of the Werebear but it gets a few temporary hp.

Persistent Righteous Might (post-errata) makes it large size, gives it +4 Str, +2 Con, and DR 9/Evil.

Persistent Superior Invisibility makes it invisible and undetectable by most nonvisual methods.

Persistent Magic Circle Against Evil gives it a variety of bonuses and prevents nongood extraplanar creatures from approaching or striking it.

Persistent Ray Deflection prevents ranged touch attacks from ever hitting it.

Persistent Fell Frighten Fire Shield twice (hot and cold) and Persistent Fell Frighten Death Armor makes it so anything that strikes it in melee and takes damage from those will be automatically Shaken > Frightened > Panicked for ten rounds.

Give it a decent martial bludgeoning weapon and use (Extended) Greater Mighty Wallop and Greater Magic Weapon on it.

Use Superior Resistance to give it a +6 bonus to all its saving throws.

Use Persistent Ruin Delver's Fortune on it three times to add its Cha bonus to each of its saving throws and give it evasion and immunity to poison and fear effects.

Use Energy Immunity on it five times to make it immune to all five energy types (use Pearls of Power).

Use Heart of Air/Water/Earth/Fire to make it immune to critical hits and give it some additional benefits.

Use Extended Enhance Familiar to give it bonuses to attacks, saves, damage, and AC.

Lots of awesome stuff.

What spells you have remaining each day can be used to crowd control opponents and provide utility to the party.

...or persistant invisibility on yourself, throw in a soulmeld class and invisibly stand within 5' of the familiar while it whomps on things...
