If yes

He could have opened the gate in Dorukon's keep if he'd seen it

whatcha think of it?

The question is: what does the heart have to be pure of? Would a heart of pure evil work? That might help with the MitD

No.

And he watches dwarf porn! ;)

Since good and evil are arbitrary terms I'd say Elan is simply low on cholesterol ;)

Define "pure." Remember that while a Super Saiyan can only be achieved by a Pure Heart, both Vegeta and Broly got their by a heart of pure evil (while Goku was pure with righteousness)

Cool, the contents of spoiler tags show up when you mouse over the thread name. :)

I would argue that the monster in the darkness probably doesn't even have a heart, being some kind of strange being with unknown physiology.

Are good and evil arbitrary terms in the DnD universe? Your alignment is affected by certain spells. Smite Evil doesn't just work on those whose opinions are different then yours or those that you believe to be evil when they aren't.

I suppose the magic of the universe might be the one making the judgment in those cases, but then the magical glyph would still see people with the good alignment as pure and people with the evil alignment as impure.

PS: I get the winking smiley, I just choose to ignore it.

Well he never did anything especially evil until now but hes with the bad guys willfully so no. He is really naive though, whatever what MitD is, I think he is probably very young.

That doesn't keep him from having a pure heart...

...in his inventory.

He used to have a pure heart. But he ate it.

Why not? He ate everything else.

He has a pure heart. He ripped it out of an innocent little child.

I think that if we knew what the MITD actually was we might actually have an idea

I don't think the MitD is pure of heart at all. Being childish does not automatically make one innocent, and he certainly seems to have every desire to kill people--he was eager to get his big reveal back in Dorukan's Dungeon, for example.

Ignorant and innocent are not the same thing. The MitD does have an appetite for mature things. I think that eliminates the innocent part and it isn't particularly pure.

I'd describe him as having a horribly disgusting heart that smells vaguely of limburger.

Tastes like chicken though.

Wanting to bathe in someone's blood is pretty evil, loofa or no.

I'd say no. In #190, he/she/it scorns Redcloak for not abusing his authority to kill people he hates. Setting up dumb suckers to be killed in a painful way isn't very nice.

Actually he congratulates Redcloak on his leadership skills, which makes Redcloak relize what he is doing and sends in the hobgoblins. But the MitD isn't a pure soul by any means since he enjoys eating sentient creatures, thinks nothing of others suffering. and laughs at pain. While he is fun at parties he certainly wouldn't make pope any time soon.

Not a pure heart. Just an empty head.

I believe that the point being made was that pure /= good. pure evil could qualify.

In my book, eating animal is pretty much as bad as eating human.

Of course this doesn't stop me from eating animal. Humans just don't taste good.

Actually, #190 is difficult to interpret. "Awesome call" is clearly sarcasm but it is annoyed when Redcloak changes his mind. I can't explain this contradiction.

Mind you, in #117, he is thinking of eating one of the OotS team.

It's probably meant to be pure something we just don't know yet

i think there is a high and large difference between stupid and pure

Maybe it isn't sarcasm. *gasp!*

Though I do agree that Mitd is not pure hearted.

He is a monster. Monsters eat adventurers. That doesn't make him evil, it makes him hungry. Bathing in blood could also be an instinct of his species. If the major race of the world was cows, would we consider each other evil because we kill them, eat them, and wear their pelts on our hide armors?
