Hi all,

I’m looking for a monster, with a fairly high touch AC and/or Dex, relatively low CR (5 or less), and able to take levels in a PC class.

Any suggestions? This is for a monster/NPC, so LA is irrelevant.

I don’t want the touch AC to be dependant on spells or items, thanks.

Cheers – T

Sirine from MM2, Charisma as deflection, +4 Dex modifier, exactly CR 5. Errata has them at +4 LA and also assigns them Wild Empathy. Otherwise, 4HD and generally fairly playable with an Int damaging attack, good SLAs, and fluff that does not preclude them from adventuring. Good size bonus to Perform Checks too, so perfect for bards.

It's page 185 if you're interested.

Marrulurk from Sandstorm (Pg. 170); CR 4, 16 Dex, and +1 LA, along with 2d6 base sneak attack damage.

Petal (MM3), Touch 17, CR 1.
Joystealer (MM4), Touch 17, CR 5.
Force Golem (MM5), Touch 16, CR 4. (Yes, it has Int.)

It really depends on what class levels you want to give it, and what you want the opponent to do. For example, just a few items from X stat to Y bonus list (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?125732-3-x-X-stat-to-Y-bonus) can put both its regular and touch AC into the thirties if it's all the same stat, such as Cha.

Ghost adds 4 CR to a creature, and gains its CHA as a deflection bonus to AC. So you could take a high-dex creature with decent CHA, add Ghost to it to produce the type of creature you're looking for. And of course, it can always have more levels in a class both before and after death.

Really just looking for "out of the box" monsters with decent touch AC at this stage...
