Because there are MASSIVE spoilers for the movie Fight Club (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/) I will put the post in a spoiler, please go watch the movie if you haven't seen it.

What I want is the psychosis effect where the character Tyler Durden is created, and from the movie's perspective he's a real character who exists and interacts with the story world, even though he is clearly not real.

This would be allowing the rules to influence or emulate the perspective of the campaign to make one character multiple characters, ideally it could even be adapted to the whole campaign, where there is only one character who is real, even better would be that there is no way to determine which of them is real, and the only way for a truly legitimate creature to exist is for the personalities to die off.

This can follow physics and reality bending principles, like when a creature is slain it's revealed that the characters never existed, so as long as one character remains no real harm has happened, in a sense.

Are there any rules to serve as a starting point, or can you think of a good way to do this?
