Hello,

to become an Archmage you must select the School Focus feat twice, plus the Skill Focus feat. These feats are useless (or at least, I don't want them) so it's quite a heavy penalty. Is there a way to gain those feats without leveling? Similarly to how you can gain Iron Will via an Otyugh Hole?

Thank you.

one of the easiest routes to take is specialist wizard, taking spell focus in your chosen school, to qualify for master specialist which gives you skill focus spellcraft as bonus feat, leaving you only needing to take one spell focus feat as a feat tax

Oh yea I forgot to say, I don't want to specialize. That's what makes this tricky!

Otyugh Hole is a magical location from Complete Scoundrel. At the minimum, you go there and get the feat fo 3k gp. However, given the benefit, your DM might ask you to RP it and have a story arc there (you actually are sent to the hole and have to escape or something).

After 10 minutes of googling, I can't find any sources of Skill Focus (Spellcraft). I did find a source for Spell Focus (Enchantment), but it's from the Domination Domain, so that doesn't really help you any. You get bonus feats every 5 levels of Wizard that you take, and I'm pretty sure the Spell Focus feats are on the list of available bonus feats for Wizards.

Edit: Actually, how cheesy do you want to be? Depending on your starting level, if you go to those magical locations (i.e., say you were imprisoned at some point in your life, and you can net yourself the Otyugh Hole's Iron Will feat) then DCFS it away in order to gain the feat that you want. I think the scrolls cost around 4k per set (could be wrong) plus the cost of the location (generally between 2-4k) and you're looking at around 7k per feat. As always, most problems can be solved by throwing copious amounts of money at it.

That's awesome. I hadn't thought of DCFS-ing Iron Will again and again until I have everything I need. That's so cheesy though... My DM would probably tell me that I can't pick Iron Will more than once with Otyugh Hole. Since Otyugh Hole can give only 3 other feats, that's exactly the 3 feats I'd need. Thanks a bunch.

But then, I can go to other places and gain other feats... =D

I can't recall, does Master Specialist cost you anything in the way of CL?
