Praise the Sun!

What do you need for a deity? Well, I need a bit.ly to organize my threads because my sig is too full of BB code. Oh, for the writing you will need a name, a backstory, a ranking (lesser/intermediate/greater) a favored weapons, a pantheon, a protfolio, and some domains.

This has happened before, and it is back by popular request. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?313299-Stat-up-deities-of-GitP-regulars!-%28Deity-makers-requested!%29)

Dibs! I call Snow!No dibs. As many people can deify me as they like.

I'd like to take a crack at deifying someone when I get off of work.

The LoyalPaladin (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051199&postcount=5) joins the fray! I give permission.

LoyalPaladin
Alignment: LAWFUL GOOD
Rank: Intermediate Deity
Domains: Good, Law, Protection, Glory, War
Symbol: A holy stick being shoved up some poor soul's bum A silver spear head surrounded by white flames
Favored Weapon: Bastard Sword
Beliefs and Tenets: LoyalPaladin is the champion of goodly and innocent folk all over the world. His followers are known for their ceaseless devotion to law and order and their dedication to protecting those who cannot protect themselves. The church of LoyalPaladin is made up of knightly orders of warrior priests, and boasts the largest group of Paladins of any deity. Followers are expected to respect legitimate local authority, aid and protect the less fortunate, provide wise council and cool heads, and generally act in the best interest of their fellows.

The church accepts any who wish to join, but expects dedication and zeal from its followers, as theirs is a hard road full of ceaseless toil. Even members of evil races who seek the light are welcomed, as redemption is the right of all sentient beings.

Holidays: LoyalPaladin expects his followers to celebrate the life that is given to them each day and work to better the world around them, but he does allow for days of celebration. The last four days of the year are dedicated to rest and reflection on the actions of the previous year, and LoyalPaladin encourages his followers to enjoy local celebrations as well, so long as they do so in moderation.

Godly Relationships: LoyalPaladin finds himself diametrically opposed to the god Red Fel, although their interactions are surprisingly cordial. He often works with other deities of War, Good or Law, although he despises Evil gods and refuses to ally with them unless a much greater threat presents itself.

Mortal Champions: LoyalPaladin's Mortal Champions are all high level Paladins. They are trusted to act independently and to seek out and destroy evil, while promoting the cause of good.
The Smiling Guardian- Paladin X/Monk X/Sacred Fist X. A mysterious traveler who poses as a nobleman, commoner, merchant or even a slave. He travels the world righting wrongs, guiding the faithful and teaching lessons. He has a bit of a trickster side to him, but is unerringly good.

The Advocate- Paladin 10/Grey Guard 10. The path to hell is paved with good intentions, and so the church of LoyalPaladin supports this most holy of positions to act as an outside perspective on the church's actions, and to challenge them to strive for a truer and more impactful dedication to good.

The White Knight- Paladin 20. A ceaseless champion of good and light, the White Knight is a title passed down among the strongest and most loyal Paladins of LoyalPaladin's service. Blessed by the vigor of their god, The White Knight needs no rest, no food, and no water, being sustained entirely by their dedication to Law and Good.

So, I avoided making a mockery of the Paladin orders, but man was it hard. The bastard sword was selected as the favored weapon because its useful as both a one and two handed weapon, which are the two preferred styles of combat for a Paladin. The champions were for fun, but idk how to build any actual paladins, so the sacred fist guy is left to your imagination, unless someone wants to make some suggestions.

Oh dear. Let me dig mine up... well, I guess I have to be a Paladine Paladin that worships Paladine in the town of Palanthans, in the kingdom of Palanor. Located on the continent of Palinius, that is on planet Palnet. Located in the Palladia cluster on the outer arm of the Pal Galaxy. Near the constellation of Palsterberous.

I knew that thread would server me well some time...

The LoyalPaladin (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051199&postcount=5) joins the fray! I give permission.

Doin' the thing, LP. Let's go.

In days of old, there were many gods who are no longer among us. This was a savage time, where the land was inhospitable, the world was ravaged, and man's life was brutal, nasty, and short. Principles held no value when survival was paramount. Those who wielded weapons fortified themselves behind walls and gates, leaving only to pillage the lands around them. Those who had no weapons didn't last long.

Nobody knows the origins of the man called Palladian. He never showed his face, constantly concealing it behind the visor of a helmet. He was rarely seen without his armor, a simple suit of silvered plate with a golden sun emblazoned across the chest. He rarely spoke, only doing so to issue homilies about justice and virtue. All that was known is that one day, he arrived in the land, heavily armed, possessed of equal parts virtue and violent zeal. It was this latter quality that brought him fame, for he set about battering down the gates of tyrants, breaking the chains of the oppressed, and creating peace and order in his wake. Yet no sooner would he complete his task than he would vanish, taking no reward and leaving no trace.

He soon achieved mythic status. People believed him some sort of spirit, or god, wandering the land and forging a new, just order from the cruel chaos that preceded him. In time, a faith grew around Palladian. An order of knights, paladins, and clerics, calling themselves the Knights of Sol, formed around the ideal that he represented. When people were oppressed, and cried out for justice, they cried out to Palladian; when they were rescued by knights wearing sun crests, they attributed the heroism to Palladian.

Perhaps this was what caused the man Palladian to ascent to godhood. Or perhaps he always was a god. There are many mysteries from that age which are still unexplained.

Dogma
Palladian has the highest standards of his followers. He expects them to be walking symbols of purity, righteousness, and justice. Outsiders see these expectations as unreasonable, even ludicrous, but followers of Palladian believe that their god simply expects them to exceed their limits, and to be the best that they can possibly be. This, in fact, is the core tenet of the followers of Palladian: to strive each day to be a better person than the last, to inspire greatness in yourself and in others, and to live as though you could be called upon at any moment to save the world.

Clergy and Temples
Palladian's clergy are an orderly meritocracy. His divine proxies take an active role in selecting and grooming the purest, noblest, and most righteous for promotion; those who aspire to greatness have the burden of showing their worth as holy warriors. The clergy of Palladian is primarily a martial order; while a few Clerics act as logistics officers or medics, most of his clergy are devoted to continuing the war against Evil and injustice in all its forms.

Churches of Palladian are rare, due to their sophistication. Palladian's churches tend to be vast, vaulted cathedrals, with high ceilings and great, massive windows, to allow in a maximum amount of natural light. Each church also prominently features bell towers, and is build in such a place that the bells can be heard from miles around, a clarion call to prayer or a martial rally. The church itself tends to form the center of a fortified keep, with barracks for warriors, stables for horses, and warehouses with enough supplies to withstand a siege. The church, being a martial order, tends to depend upon the kindness and gratitude of local farmers and merchants for food and supplies, but returns the favor by standing as an unbreakable bulwark against bandits and invasions. All who fight for righteousness or seek protection from Evil are welcome to rest within its walls.

Palladian
The Hero of Knights, The Light of Justice, Retribution's Wing
Intermediate Deity
Symbol: A sword, in front of a sun, in front of a shield
Home Plane: Celestia
Alignment: Lawful Good
Portfolio: Paladins, justice, righteous war
Worshipers: Paladins, righteous warriors, anyone seeking protection from Evil
Cleric Alignments: LG, NG. Palladian does not accept Chaotic or non-Good clergy.
Domains: Good, Law, Retribution, War
Favored Weapon: Greatsword

Pantheon: Good
Relationships: TBD

And... Dangit, swordsage'd.

Speaking of Pantheons, we have four primary ones right now (discussed in prior threads):

Good
Evil
Path of War
Akasha

... and I vote Red Fel as Greater Deity of the Evil pantheon. I'd write it, but I'm fairly sure I'll get swordsaged pretty hard.

Akasha is fine, but the other ones might need renaming. Good and Evil DEFINITELY do. Those are boring.

OK, I'm game. Elricaltovilla (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051447&postcount=9)

You just had to Swordsage me, didn't you? Be glad I didn't make you God of Swordsages. Because that would be just plain weird.

Apotheosis is a funny thing. There are those who were gods since time immemorial, others who became gods by being designated by the divine, and others who stumbled upon godhood via happy accident. And then there are those who achieve it simply because mortality can no longer contain their excellence.

Elric was born to the sword. He lived by the sword. He traveled to myriad monasteries, knightly orders, and military training camps, mastering each style, each weapon, each technique in turn. Although he was occasionally called upon to command armies or conduct campaigns, he did not seek the battlefield. He never sought the glory of war; he simply sought to master its means.

Age brings frailty to some, but to Elric it brought inspiration. Having mastered every technique he could find, he determined to set about creating new ones. It is believed that the first Blade Magic techniques were born from the fevered mind of the master himself. It is known for certain that he had a hand in creating several disciplines still studied today, including the Elemental Flux, Mithral Current, Piercing Thunder and Tempest Gale disciplines.

When at last his time came, Elric was ushered, not unto the afterlife, but unto the hall of the gods. He had ascended, and would now stand as a symbol to those who would seek to refine and master the art of war. To this day, it is believed that Elric waits, believing that one day he would be surpassed and replaced by still a greater master of combat. But until that time comes, he is revered for his unparalleled technique and dedication.

Dogma
The faith of Elric is a fluid thing. Some practice his faith in martial monasteries, spending days in training and nights in prayer. Others gather in basements, offering token prayer before departing for individual projects. Elric himself requires only one thing of his followers: Training. Elric acknowledges that training takes many forms. There are those who train through rigorous discipline and repetition, and this is good, because their dedication creates a refined technique. There are those who train through drinking and indulging in life's vices, and this is good, because their free spirits create a fluid and adaptable method. There are those who train through protecting the weak, and those who train through subjugating them, and these are both good, because all disciplines require motivation. All Elric demands is that his followers never rest, never stop, but constantly strive to improve their martial skill.

Holidays
The most famous holiday of Elric is known as the Kumite. It is a festival of combat, where martial experts of all stripes come together to demonstrate their skill and excellence. It is held on the plains of Altovilla, in a place preserved by one of the few dedicated monasteries of Elric. Although there is a general agreement that combat is limited to the arenas, beyond the walls of the monastery, anything goes; rivalries, sabotage, even murders are not unheard of on the plains beyond the walls.

Dibs! I call Red!

Also, since you're probably the playgrounder I know best, I will get to work on a Red Fel deity as swiftly as I can.

I was gonna make a Red Fel as an apology for swordsaging him, but I guess you go ahead.:smalltongue:

Yes, yes! Dance, my puppets, dance! Behold my myriad forms, and despair! We are Fel, and we are legion!

I guess Atemu wanted to as well. We all know that any deity we create for him is just going to be aspects of a more sinister evil lurking somewhere in Baator. For all we know, even Asmodeus is but an aspect.

So what you're saying is that Red Fel is a pantheon unto himself?

... and I vote Red Fel as Greater Deity of the Evil pantheon. I'd write it, but I'm fairly sure I'll get swordsaged pretty hard.

Nonsense. Go right ahead and write one. Any of you. All of you. The best thing about being me... There are so many "me"s.

Akasha is fine, but the other ones might need renaming. Good and Evil DEFINITELY do. Those are boring.

Follow the "path of" convention? Path of Righteousness, Path of Wickedness, Path of Mysticism? Maybe break away from alignments altogether, and go with concepts. Path of War covers PoW, sure, Path of Mysticism can cover Akasha... Maybe Path of Valiance, Path of Conquest, something like that?

Heck, all else fails, just go with things like "Rider," "Saber, "Archer," "Lancer," and so forth. (Dibs on Caster, dibs on Caster!)

Yes... Yes! It is time. It is the time... of Red Fel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051194&postcount=4).
Sir Red Fel, this one is for you. (I've also cruelly ripped off your format.)

Where there is light, there has also always been darkness. Do you ever feel as though you're being watched? Maybe you have an irrational fear of the dark? That is because no shadow is safe from the eyes of Malevolus.

Throughout the ages, cultures have all tried to expel darkness from their homes, streets, and even their simple campsites. But this is a fruitless effort. So many people came to fear the shadows that they took on intelligence and will. Thus forming the being Malevolus.

No one remembers when they started hearing the whispers from the dark or seeing shifting shadows in the corner of their eye, but this is Malevolus. He is always watching, always nudging you gently into his shadows, and always opposing the light.

Dogma
Oppose the light and Bring all to the darkness. Knowledge will bring good to it's knees, be patient and secretive. Do not fear the shadow, embrace it. Work towards a greater darkness and spread fear among those who cling to light.

Clergy and Temples
Malevolus has no established worship grounds, preferring to say that anywhere that excludes the light is fitting for his worship.

Not much is known about the clergy of Malevolus, but it is said that the highest ranking clerics in his court of shadow are all high ranking vampire lords.

Among the myriad gods and deities of the various universes, there stands one apart from all others. This is Snowbluff. Snowbluff is an old god, with a presence so far reaching that his list of titles is too long to name. However, several of his most ancient titles include They Who are Moe, as well as The Creator of Creators.

Snowbluff (Ancient Diety)
Alignment: Snowbluff is so ancient and powerful that they are above alignment, but they are most commonly referred to as LG.
Domains: War, Madness, Law, Chaos, Good, Evil, Trickery, Glory, Sun
Worshippers: As the forms of Snowbluff are near infinite, there is no one that has not, even unintentionally, offered worship to them. They are all encompassing.
Favored Weapon: Glaive
Portfolio: Creation, Anime, Paladins
Symbol: The face of a girl drawn in the anime style, with one half being light and cheery, with the other being dark and twisted.

Asmodeus, Tiamat, Lucifer. The rulers of the various hells across the universe, known for being near infinite in power. Yet there is one deity so old, that all but the oldest of creatures have forgotten him, and even then, he is only remembered as a long gone memory. However, this great being is not gone, in fact, he is the very opposite. When someone speaks of Baator, they speak of him. When someone speaks of hell, they speak of him. When someone speaks of Infernus, or Abaddon, they speak of him. He is Fel, oldest ruler of hell. He is hell.

Fel (Ancient Deity)
Alignment: Fel is the pure embodiment of Law and utter Evil. He is LE.
Domains: Law, Evil, Rune, Darkness, Fire, Trickery
Worshippers: Fel is so powerful, even the devils in secret worship him, if only out of fear that his essence will consume them. All lawful and evil beings worship some form of him.
Favored Weapon: Contract
Portfolio: Contracts, Pure Evil, Hell, Abaddon, Baator, Infernus, Laws
Symbol: A contract wrote in crimson, laid over horns of fire and shadow.

Pantheon: The Ancient Pantheon

Contract (Exotic Light Melee Weapon)

Type: Slashing and Word damage
Special: The contract can be rolled up to serve as a scroll, requiring a DC 25 perception check to tell the difference. It also serves as a true contract when needed.

Yes... Yes! It is time. It is the time... of Red Fel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051194&postcount=4).

Red Fel
Alignment: Muahahaha!!!
Rank: Greater Deity
Domains: Evil, Trickery, Charm, Luck, Knowledge
Symbol: A laughing blue skull with rubies for eyes
Favored Weapon: spiked chain
Beliefs and Tenets: Red Fel is an evil and insidious deity that acts to spread evil in the world in order to corrupt it towards his own ends. Possessing far more foresight than most evil deities, Red Fel makes efforts to remain on amicable terms with most other deities. His clerics follow similar ideals, often presenting themselves in a community as helpful and knowledgeable members of society so that they may slowly corrupt others to the worship of their dark lord. Clerics of Red Fel even work actively with paladins and other champions of good in order to erode at their most basic beliefs.

Holidays: Red Fel supports frequent holidays, with much feasting and celebration so as to draw mortals into his worship. These holidays are unusually tame for an evil deity, although they tend towards far more excess than most good aligned gods would be comfortable with. It is common practice among newly established churches of Red Fel to have holidays almost every week as they establish themselves in order to bring people to their worship quickly.

Godly Relationships: Red Fel opposes deities of good in principle, although he makes efforts to be cordial, helpful and available if they or their followers ever need his aid (after all keep your friends close, but your enemies closer). He dislikes Gruumsh because of the god's shortsightedness, but can appreciate his desire for destruction.

Mortal Champions: Red Fel has many mortal agents that work towards his ends in secret, but a few are open about their loyalty to the dark lord.
The Whispering Lady- Beguiler 20. She travels from town to town, always in splendor to attend the finest parties and banquets in order to gain the ear of the leaders of many countries and turn their thoughts and loyalties towards her master. An expert seductress, the Whispering Lady always manages to leave town just before her corruption and dalliances are found out.

The Lost Child- A street urchin who travels the world posing as someone in need of rescue. She has lead many adventurers on quests of vengeance and destruction on her behalf, always delighting in the chaos and destruction she can sew by playing on the hearts of those noble fools.

The Fiend- Advanced Marilith. When subtlety and secrecy are uncalled for, and might must rule the day, Red Fel calls upon the Fiend to lead his armies. This advanced Marilith is a master of all weapons, with aeons of military experience and a thirst for blood and death unrivaled in the multiverse. The only thing she cares for more, is her master.

Being the mastermind that he is, Red Fel needed to be a god of planning, cunning and skill, not just evil. So that's what I've got. Red Fel's champions are all female because what evil overlord would be caught dead without a bevy of beautiful ladies at his beck and call?

Alright, here's the Greater Deity version of Red Fel. Vermeil is Latin for the color Red.

There once was a great Sorceror who went by the name Vermeil, a crusader for all that was Good and Pure. As he quested, he saw that as mighty as he would ever become, as much as he fought and risked his life againt the unspeakable horrors of the infinite multiverse and beyond, there was always more Evil to be found.

Eventually, he changed. Obviously, Good was not the true order of things if his countless victories only led to countless more of the entities popping up.

Always charismatic and intelligent in the extreme, Vermeil turned to the realm of Evil, taking the name Red. he fought for its causes (though always on his own terms), proseltized its ethos, and still enjoyed life just as thoroughly as he did before his change of view. When eventually he lay at death's door, his power refused to fade. In the Hall of the Gods, he convinced the forces of Evil to chose him to lead them. They still have no idea how he did it.

Dogma
Evil does not mean savage, nor does it make one automatically a betrayer. One must put one's self forward, as this is the only way to become all that one can be. A single civil and urbane voice in discussion at the right time can do more for the cause than a million monsters.

Clergy and Temples
Red the Fallen is one of few truly Evil deities who is openly worshiped, in great part because he sees no need to destroy good (it'll all come to him eventually anyway). His clergy all wear red, the deeper the color the higher the rank. Novices wear a red so light it's almost pink, and his High Priest wears a red so deep it is visible through darkvision. All wear his symbol on a clasp, binding their robes together over their heart to show their dedication. None ever hide this symbol, even where it can get them killed.

Malevolus
The Whisperer, The High Lord of Evil,
Greater Deity
Symbol: A black circle, on which a red crescent is emblazoned points-upward, almost like a grin.
Home Plane: The Seven Hells (where he is welcome anywhere)
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Portfolio: Evil, Debate, Diplomacy, and powers which enhance the self.
Worshipers: Evil creatures who wish to live peacefully, those who put themselves forward above all, Diplomats
Cleric Alignments: LE, LN, NE
Domains: Evil, Law, Glory, Community
Favored Weapon: Quarterstaff

Pantheon: Evil
Relationships: Red has a surprisingly good relationship with nearly every other major Power, save only those who would lessen his efforts by intentional or unintentional interference. He is said to be excellent in a debate and persuasive, no matter what the topic at hand.

Yes, that's right. Evil and Glory domains on the same guy.

EDIT: Holy CRAP swordsage'd. I was right, though.

... Wow. I could be all cackly and clapping my hands, but this one is really... Genuine smile. I have a genuine smile. You made me actually feel warmth in my heart. You monster.

The level of detail is excellent. The lore is solid. The minions are delicious. Red Fel is an equal opportunity employer. ... Ladies.

As I said above. Red Fel is an equal opportunity employer. ... Ladies.

EDIT: And another? Is it my birthday? You guys!

Alright, here's the Greater Deity version or Red Fel. Vermeil is Latin for the color Red.

I particularly love the Dogma and Clergy and Temples sections. So classy, so optimistically wicked. So charming. I love the innocuous choice of weapon, and the inclusion of "Evil creatures who want to live in peace" among worshipers - because, let's face it, they do exist. After a fashion.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

It's not the coppery red scales. You're really making me blush.

Why are two out of three of those Champions are very scarily CE sounding?

I was actually shooting for neutral evil, but I wanted to emphasize the insidious and corrupting aspects of evil, since they seem to get little love from actual published sources.

I'm not sure how I feel about that deity I whipped up for you Snow. Probably a good thing though. You ended up lawful because you're a paladin, and everyone knows the only acceptable alignment for paladins is LG.
You're free to work on it! Take your time. Relax. It's just for fun. ^^

Bah. I don't need a pantheon. Haven't you been reading? I am a pantheon.

Well, there you go.

A Paladin you say? Welcome to my order. :smallwink:

Ha! Eat your heart out, Tenebrous. The shadows belong to me now!

I like how my worshipers include the blind and those scorned by society. I'm sure there was some unintentional symbolism there, but I'll take it.
You could say that anything else in the shadows is... but a part of your master plan.

I'm glad you liked it! You'll make a worthy opposition. We need some other people to have deities written for them. So far this is becoming a war between aspects of LG and LE!

Also, LoyalPaladin is clearly Neutral Evil, He just wants you to think he is Lawful Good as he goes on his crusade against fun.

For example: LoyalPaladin-sensei, How would you react to someone lighting an entire town on fire after they got in a bar fight with some frog people from the lake?
While I can tell I am being goaded into your treacherous trap, it is my duty to persevere. Of course, Palladian and LoyalPaladin would both send aid to put out the fires and apprehend the criminals responsible for setting it on fire in the first place.

Well, there you go.

Well, thank goodness there were no surviving eye-witnesses to the event in question, even if there were 4 other people who think they know who it is. Don't worry the church was left standing and their giant silver holy symbol was salvaged before frog people or other things could take it, though its current whereabouts are unknown...

I think it's time for someone other than Red Fel to get a deity, otherwise he's just going to end up with all of them. So here's a new one:

I, eggynack (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051287&postcount=7), shall again give up my likeness for the purposes of deity production.

Eggynack
Alignment: TN
Rank: Greater Deity
Domains: Nature, Animal, Plant, Sun, Weather
Symbol: A wooden oak leaf inlaid with bright gold
Favored Weapon: Natural Weapons
Beliefs and Tenets: We are one with nature, and each of us to nature belongs. This is the core tenet of the worship of Eggynack, the lord of all Druids. His worship is found and founded in the wild places of the world, where civilization dares not tread. Reverence for the wilds and willingness to test oneself against it is considered honorable and desireable among the followers of Eggynack. Those who strive for strength will find it within themselves and within their companions, but only if they are willing to endure hardship to do so. One must survive in order to become strong.

Holidays: The equinoxes and solstices mark the holy days of Eggynack's church, as the mark the changing of the seasons and the shifting of the world among the heavens.

Godly Relationships: Eggynack bears cordial relationships with all deities, even those that seek to destroy nature, since they can only act within their own, their actions only serve to illustrate the great glory that is the natural world.

Mortal Champions: Eggynack's Mortal Champions are true servants of the wild. They fiercely protect their domains, but welcome challengers and followers with open arms.
The Skinwalker- Wildshape Ranger X/ Bear Warrior X/ Fist of the Forest X. A wanderer in the wilds, and easily the greatest tracker in the world, the skinwalker has spent more time in the form of a beast than a man, and has forgotten much of his former self. He does not regret this.

The Green Lady- Great Wyrm Green Dragon Druid 20. Eggynack's most powerful champion, the Green Lady watches over his most sacred sites, traveling from one to the other to protect her lord's holdings. She teaches others the knowledge to become druids and guides many on the path to oneness with nature.

The Tree of Knowledge- Elder Treant Druid 20. The great teacher, many druids seek out the Tree of Knowledge to know how best to fulfill their duties as druids. The Tree of Knowledge is said to share the mind of every tree and plant in the world, and can access memories from times long forgotten.

Should any deem me worthy, I would love to see someone's interpretation of me in my activity here as that of a deity (more likely a demigod, demon lord or creature of similar level, or simply idiot who thinks himself divine but doesn't even have a rank of 0, so on).

I grant permission (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19052729&postcount=58).
I think my work with the Alloprax, Subpsionics, and my.. evident interest in shadow magic could serve as sources of inspiration for anyone trying their hand at creating a deity of me. Not to mention the ur-priest alternative class for PF and elder evil epigone.. but those are somewhat anti-deity.

As the rule of thumb established in the first of these threads go, you're generally defined as a regular based on posting in the thread, and if you get a majig, that's probably sufficient juice. It's pretty tautological, but that's just because it's tautological.

On a separate note, glad I picked up an upgrade from lesser to greater deity compared to last time this particular thread rolled around. This majig in particular ranks right up there with my sweet weapon from awhile back.

Excellent! I was waiting for you Zaydos! Another Ancient Deity, here we come!

There is one deity said to have been part of the creation of all things, even the other gods. When the universe was young, and still a primordial sea of nothing, a single being arose and took shape from the Chaos, forming the basis for the various planes and levels of existence. His essence is found in all forms of life, even the gods themselves. It is unknown whether Zaydos formed the other Ancient Deities from himself, or if they too, arose from the primordial chaos. He is said to be vaguely draconian in shape, and the few scriptures of him that exist depict him as a humanoid dragon bearing a staff in one hand and a magical essence in the other.

Zaydos (Ancient Deity)
Alignment: Zaydos is True Neutral, valuing creation over all.
Domains: Artifice, Community, Rune, Scalykind (Dragon), Creation
Worshippers: Creators, Inventors, Arcane Casters.
Favored Weapon: Quarterstaff
Portfolio: Creation, Dragons, Knowledge
Symbol: A stylized dragon encircled about a staff of runes.

Pantheon: The Ancient Pantheon

I came to see myself in deity form, but it has turned this way. Perhaps we can get it back more on task?

Not that the derailment isn't fun and all.

For something more on subject, I figure I would be a demigod of sorts or at most a lesser deity. I can argue any of the following domains being among my things:

Chaos: I figure myself more than likely CN, least within one step thereof.
(Demon): Demons interest me, as do kyton but I do not see myself as LE. If this, perhaps a demon lord?
(Entropy): I wouldn't wish to rule, but to destroy all things. Also the home-brews of the Elder Evil Epigone (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?308376-D-amp-D-3-5-PrC-Elder-Evil-Epigone-PEACH) and Ur-priest alternative class (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?374471-Alternative-Class-Ur-Priest-PEACH) reinforce this, though more to the end of an opposition against the gods. Im not typically malevolent, I can even be quite nice and even empathetic. Think of it as a mercy, perhaps.
(Whimsy): My homebrew and even some of my posts are very given to my whims, in a way this has made things suffer.

Darkness: I love working with shadow-themed things, and there are too many to practically list examples of. Of official domains, this one is where it is at, though I do recall Peacenlove does have a Shadow Magic domain in Complete Shadow Magic (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7pX5JzphJ4ya3YxNl91anlmLTQ/edit).

Madness: I do not consider myself fully sane, and I do have quite the interest in insanity mechanics and things that would come out of the Dark Tapestry (or the Far-realm if we are talking 3.5).

Psionics: There is a psionics domain, though not on the SRD. Atleast given my work on subpsionics (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?366199-Ultimate-Subpsionics), this makes sense.

Void: See below
(Dark Tapestry): In addition to my interest in such things, I pride myself on the Alloprax (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?345917-Alloprax-Spawn-of-the-Dark-Tapestry-PEACH).

I more than welcome, as previously stated, someone to run with things. One could use these suggestions to work with or ignore them entirely. In any case I would love to see how I'm perceived, even if isn't favorably. Im sure others would like the same for themselves too, hence the postings by them granting such permission.

Alright, here's the Greater Deity version or Red Fel. Vermeil is Latin for the color Red.

This makes such a fantastic foil to the God of the White Legion (homebrew CG deity of love and redemption) that I would like permission to officially include him in my own games' pantheon.

You have all done well. So much Red Fel and LoyalPaladin. I'm curious what the great playground can do for the legendary Keledrath (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?21712-Keledrath).

Kind of makes me wish I actually had information on the character somewhere on this site. If only he weren't impossible to recreate in 3.5/PF without absurd homebrewing/houseruling/tristalting

Keledrath
Alignment: TN
Rank: Lesser Deity
Domains: War, Artifice, Glory, Strength, Protection
Symbol: A crossed sword and spear over a roundshield
Favored Weapon: It's complicated...
Legend: Keledrath was a legendary warrior from the beginning of the world who worked to master unusual fighting styles and explore new weapons and skills. He mastered weapon after weapon, learning each in turn until one day, there was nothing left. Most great masters face such a crisis and find themselves broken by their own perfection, but Keledrath persevered, having realized that mastery over each weapon individually was nothing compared to a mastery of all weapons as one. Keledrath returned to his studies, traveling from battlefield to battlefield to master his new styles and to find the connection between each and every weapon. When finally his end came, Keledrath was welcomed among the gods as a hero and a mortal of exceptional ability.

Beliefs and Tenets: The above legend contains much of the core beliefs of those who worship Keledrath. Chiefly, that mastery over a skill is never complete, and that innovation is just as important as understanding the established systems. Worshipers of Keledrath value hard work, skill, and creativity. Martial skill is very common among his followers, but they do not reserve themselves to only mastering martial skill.

Holidays: One of Keledrath's most important holidays is the week long Grand Tourney. Followers all over the world gather together to engage in friendly competition of all kinds. At the Grand Tourney, new skills are demonstrated, new inventions displayed and new foods tasted. Winners of the various competitions receive prizes and blessings from the church.

Godly Relationships: Keledrath finds common ground with other gods of martial skill, and any who support knowledge, innovation and craftsmanship.

Mortal Champions:
The Keledrath- Whispers exist that the mortal form of Keledrath still walks the earth, forever sealed in his armor and carrying his signature multiple weapons to test the mettle of his followers and to continue his desire to bring mastery of all weapons under a single style.

The Artificer- Gnome Artificer 20. A master inventor who has been a fan and worshipper of Keledrath supposedly since before he even ascended to godhood. The Artificer crafts new and interesting magical items for the church of Keledrath, which are then disseminated to the faithful.

The Gourmand- Orc Expert 20. The Gourmand holds the title of the greatest chef in the world. His skill in the kitchen borders on the deific already, and he credits his success to the church of Keledrath's valuing innovation so highly. The Gourmand is known to sometimes have a sour mood though, so months may go by without him cooking, until suddenly he bursts onto the scene again whipping up feast for heroes, kings and beggars alike.

We do have a moe god. So that's a thing. But fear not citizen, I'll protect you.

This has gone in an odd direction.
Welcome to the last 3 Snowbluff threads I've been in...

we even have a thread to lower the derailment a bit. we have of course derailed the derailment thread.
That thread went from on topic, to veering off the rails, to back on topic, and now we've lost it entirely to the abyss.

Elric, that almost brought a tear to my eye. The perfect mixture of snark and badass. Even the followers are perfect (even the orc chef). This is totally being added to my campaign. Oh, and the Keledrath's PF class combo would probably be something like Bushi Warlord X/Harbinger X/Mystic X, since you seem to like doing those.

Here you go Paladin-sensei. I offer my tribute.

Paladin-sensei
Alignment: LAWFUL Neutral

Rank: Intermediate Deity
Domains: Knowledge, Law, Pride, Radiance, Retribution, Tyranny, Zeal

Symbol: A suit of armor holding a sword in one hand and shield in the other hand with wings fully spread.
Favored Weapon: Maul
Portfolio: “Justice”, Evangelism, Weird holy glowie effects, stupid-heads who aren’t mean

Backstory: Paladin-sensei was a man who believed in “Justice”. Everywhere he went he would deal with those he deemed “Unjust” and spread the word of “Justice”. He would be willing to teach them the error of their ways but they would never take that option and instead choose to fight and die to the awesome power of his maul. In case any “unjust” person ever chose to be educated in the way of “Justice”, the maul he carried was large and very rectangular. Its sides were also made of slate so he could plant the sharp pointy handle in the ground and use chalk on it for visual aids in lecturing on “Justice”. One day, Paladin-sensei found someone “Unjust” who, after fighting him for a while, asked to talk. While they were talking over tea and Paladin-sensei was lecturing on “Justice”, the “Unjust” man convinced Paladin-sensei to come with him to spread the word of “Justice” to an evil land that was clearly in need of “Justice”. When they got to the “Unjust“ land the “Unjust” man tricked led the entire country against Paladin-sensei for the “Unjust” man was this county’s charismatic and beloved leader. Paladin-sensei defeated all those who were illuminated by his holy glow, but he grew tired and was unable to keep his holy glowie effects going. He was defeated by the “Unjust” forces that were outside of his holy glowie effects for the swarm was larger than Paladin-sensei could illuminate. When he died his desire for “Justice” was so strong he ascended to godhood and those that believed in the word of “justice” that he spread gave him the power he has today. He swiftly used his new power to deal retribution upon the “Unjust” country. The he was swiftly educated by the other gods as to why he shouldn’t directly deal “Justice” unless he wants a huge god-brawl.

Pantheon: Paladin-sensei is welcome in the pantheons of people with a ritually implanted heat sink rods, and holy glowie people.

Relations: The pantheon of knowledge also lets him lecture to them because they love to take notes on his passionate lectures. He also has a well-known alliance with the great and powerful Snowbluff.

Notes: Paladin orders of Paladin-sensei are forward thinking and do not require the ritual implantation of a heat sink rod for initiates. However, they have noticed that those who opt out of it aren’t nearly as proactive in the fight for “Justice” as those who did g through with the ritual. Those who opted out also appear to be less durable when it comes to weather effects and surviving spells cast on them.

Clergy: Paladin-sensei only accepts clergy who are LN and LG. Though he does embrace some TN people they are not allowed to represent him through station.

On one hand, it must be flattering that many wish to make aspects of a few, but on the other, few others ascend.

I've a question. Is there anything that should approximately dictate divine rank (not necessarily number but hero/demi/lesser/intermediate/greater/over) or is it simply up to the person creating the deity of the person?

I think it is up to the person creating the deity to decide divine rank. I could be wrong though.

Here you go WeasleGuy.

WeaselGuy
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Rank:Lesser Deity
Domains: Animal, Competition, Courage, Kobold, Law, War

Symbol: A Weasel's head with two lances crossed behind it.
Favored Weapon: Lance
Portfolio: Mounted Warriors, Kobolds, Honor, Battle

Backstory: The Kobold who would rise to become the Deity WeaselGuy was born under the rule of a cruel and capricious Red Dragon. The beast would eat Kobolds whenever it suited it and destroy their homes because it could. One day WeaselGuy, upon his trusted weasel, attacked the beast. The battle raged for hours, the dragon destroying much of its lair and horde trying to reduce WeaselGuy to ash until WeaselGuy got a clear charge at it's heart. His lance pieced the tough dragon hide and the beasts blood covered him and his mount, this blood changed him. Filled with the power of a dragon, WeaselGuy went forth and did battle with foul beasts and crazed monsters across the known world. Somewhere on this journey he became a god and is revered the world over by Kobolds and other mounted warriors.

Pantheon:WeaselGuy is in the Pantheon of War as well as being part of the Kobold Pantheon.

Relations:WeaselGuy is welcomed by most non-Chaotic gods and goddesses especially gods of war

Clergy:The Clergy of WeaselGuy is varied greatly racially as almost all races appreciate cavalry. Alignment wise WeaselGuy accepts priests of LG,LN,LE and TN, as long as they appreciate Battle (especially while mounted) they will find acceptance here.

oh hawkykins, i have a deity for you.

Edit: I was stuck between fighter and assassin. So i went with the one i thought would be more fun.

Blaec Hawk
Alignment: Neutral
Rank: Lesser Deity
Domains: Competition, Destruction, Endurance, Magic, Strength, War,
Symbol: A simple round shield with simple long sword in front of it.
Favored Weapon: Jovar
Portfolio: Swords and other pointy sticks, Swordsmen, Fighting magic

Backstory: Blaec was a simple man who always wanted to be the best swordsman he could be, but his father was a wizard and would have none of that silly stick fighting. He wanted his son to be a powerful mage like himself and sent him off to wizard college. Blaec dropped out of wizard college, but the college had a no refund policy. So he went off to the nearby community swordsman college, which had free admission. He trained hard to be the best swordsman, and even added his own extracurricular training regime. This included carrying an entire heard of calves up a hill every day. He soon realized that was a bad plan because they were quickly growing, but he kept going. He graduated at the top of his class. When his father heard about this he disowned Blaec. Many of the wizards from the nearby wizard college would often pick on the swordsmen with their magic. Mysteriously one day while he and some other swordsmen at a reunion where being picked on, Blaec flexed his muscles and this somehow inexplicably stopped one of the spells the wizards were using. The swordsmen swiftly beat up the wizards and hung their underwear on a flagpole outside the wizard college. Blaec continued to master his martial prowess until one day he had seemingly mastered every weapon he could come across. A messenger from a god came to him to help him train more and found rare and exotic weapons for him to master until he had trained with every weapon, even some lost to time. When he had mastered the last weapon he had achieved insight into the way of the weapon and ascended to godhood.

Pantheon: Fighter pantheon

Relations: Often shows up when Snowbluff is accepting tributes only to run away

Notes: His clerics praise him for giving them and awesome sharp stick to wield and not being evil.

Clergy: Blaec accepts followers from all walks of life but doesn’t accept those who are extreme in there alignment for it distracts them from training. Therefore his clergy is made of LN, CN, NG, NE, and TN people.

PsyBomb (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19051273&postcount=6)

Right! That's enough mucking about, time for Red Fel to take charge again!

Young among the gods, and yet welcome in their number, Saibon started his career as a mortal. Devoted to the study of the Akasha, Saibon rose quickly in prestige among his peers, particularly due to his uncanny knack to keenly discern the value in things. And not just concrete things, either; Saibon's savvy allowed him to easily evaluate esoteric concepts, such as skills and magics. In time, Saibon developed a simple numerical ranking system, which he then applied to the mysteries of Akasha.

While the Akashic gods were pleased with his incisive intellect and the zeal that he brought to his task, they were less than pleased with the reduction of their sophisticated magical system into a list of numbers and values. The Akasha were meant to be mysterious; while he brought many people to appreciate their elegance, he also threatened to destroy their mystique. Thus, Saibon's mortal life was cut short, and he was brought before the gods, to receive his reward before he could do any further damage to the Akashic mysteries.

He now exists as a patron to all those who would delve into the wonders and secrets of arcane lore, particularly those who devote themselves to the Akasha.

Dogma
Saibon's dogma can be distilled into two words: Learn more. Saibon's story ended, not because he knew too much, but because he threatened to make that knowledge available. The lesson his clergy draw from this is that while it is valuable to have a mentor, and valuable to teach others, ultimate understanding must come from personal experience. It is incumbent upon Saibon's followers to grow their minds for themselves, and any day on which a Saibonite has learned nothing is considered a blasphemous waste.

Clergy and Temples
Saibon's temples generally resemble arcane schools more than religious institutions. Walls covered in bookshelves are common, as are various rooms in which magical practitioners refine their craft. His clergy draw not only from clerics, but also from wizards and viziers, as well as the occasional guru or daevic. Many possess animated scrolls and quills, which are used by worshipers and clergy to document their discoveries. Promotion within the order is generally based upon academic achievement and research, although many discoveries are kept concealed from lower-ranking members of the faith. This is not an attempt at secrecy or censorship, but rather an encouragement for those members to seek out mysteries on their own, rather than relying on others.

Holidays
The Great Defense, despite its name, has nothing to do with combat. It is a major holiday for the followers of Saibon, who gather together at the Grand Library of Attilar, one of the grandest of Saibon's churches. During this week-long festival, devoted followers, hand-picked by the elders of the faith for their scholarship, present and defend arcane and Akashic theses before the assembled congregation. Many great and wonderful discoveries have emerged from these festivals, and many future leaders of the church have been revealed to the world in this manner. Even those who do not follow Saibon are known to attend, if only to derive some insight into the inner workings of magic and Akasha.

So, Blackhawk, just to let you know, I was talking to my wife, and she had this awesome idea. We're both members of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org)). It's basically a medieval reenactment group. Anyways, part of the SCA is building a persona (based on a time period and location) and coming up with your own "device" (basically your own heraldic symbol). Let it be known, I am going to be using:

Symbol: A Weasel's head with two lances crossed behind it.
as my device.

I can only aspire to one day be as popular the infamous Red Fel... I'm truly impressed by your following. One could almost say it was cultish...

Have you read Red Fel expounding on the nature of evil, non-cliched evil? Those sage words and insights have practically inspired cults in-and-of themselves. And this is in addition to Red having all manner of fluff/crunch synergy in his contributions to build threads and various brainstorming.

I definitely think there are a good half-dozen or so titans here that stand out quite strongly, but I will have to check for permissions before I make cursory comments or anything more in depth.

Speaking of which, Snowbluff...didn't you host another thread of this nature last fall? I seem to remember something of the kind...it would be nice if we could interlink them to get some creative synergy going. Maybe something to add to the initial post....

Izfort
Known as the Strong and the Perfected One, Izfort is the god of self-perfection, and physical prowess. As a god, Izfort is known as the physically strongest of the gods and empower those who seek to better themselves to noble ends. Izfort values physical prowess, self reliance, and self improvement.
Portfolio: Strength, athletic competitions, physical perfection, self-improvement.
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Followers: Athletes, warriors, rangers, barbarians.
Domains: Chaos, Good, Strength, Competition (SpC), Pugilism.
Holy Symbol: A fist surrounded wrapped and bound by a red cord.
Favored Weapon: Greatsword or Unarmed Strike.

Pugilism Domain:
Granted Power: You gain Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat and gain improved unarmed damage based on their level as indicated in the table below (the damage is either lethal or non-lethal).
1st-4th: 1d4 (1d3 if small)
5th-8th: 1d6 (1d4 if small)
9th-13th: 1d8 (1d6 if small)
14th-18th: 1d10 (1d8 if small)
19th-20th: 2d6 (1d10 if small).
A character with this domain and the Superior Unarmed Combat feat (see Tome of Battle) uses the damage based on the feat or as a cleric with this domain at 4 levels higher. A shaman with this feat counts as a shaman two levels higher for unarmed damage. A monk uses either his monk unarmed strike at +2 levels or his cleric unarmed strike at +2 levels.
Spells:
1st: Fist of Stone (SC)
2nd: Balor Nimbus (SC)
3rd: Girallon’s Blessing (SC)
4th: Divine Power
5th: Righteous Might
6th: Bite of the Werebear (SC)
7th: Withering Palm (SC)
8th: Unyielding Form of Inevitable Death (CM)
9th: "Izfort's" Crushing Hand
With the pugilism domain I chose spells that aided grappling (balor nimbus), increased your base combat power (divine power, righteous might), gave you natural weapons (girallon’s blessing, fist of stone, bite of the werebear), or performed some unarmed style feat. Withering Palm just seems like a martial arts movie ability, and Crushing Hand is simply a giant hand that squeezes and pushes your enemy. Finally Unyielding Form of Inevitable Death turns you into a big metal dude with a signature attack called fists of thunder and lightning. The name of the domain is a little incorrect, it is made for all unarmed combats perhaps especially grapplers and most of its abilities cannot really be used in boxing.

The new domain is an old one I made before 4e was a thing, and the god might be half designed for this and half for use in a setting I'm planning.

Way to jinx it... That's like saying "surely this day couldn't get any worse" right before it starts raining when you're halfway between the office and your car. Oh, and you left the windows down. And your cell phone on the seat. And your dog is still outside.

Don't worry, I won't respond with a gif. :smalltongue:

Alright, here's the Greater Deity of the Pantheon of War.

His origins are a mystery, his ways shrouded in the unknown, but a few things are certain about this force. Only the first of these is the unbelievably broad spheres of influence he calls his own. He is the leader of the Pantheon of War, but also claims Vampires, Half-breeds, and indeed any who label themselves a perfectionist under his scope. It is said that he is the cause of the various disparate races of the world being able to intermingle and produce viable offspring.

He appears as a tall humanoid, cloaked in green. When his hood is down, his race is indeterminate, seeming to be a blend of everything living.

Dogma
Each and every kind of being in the multiverse has a power all their own, and all can contribute to the greater whole. Only by bringing out the best in oneself and passing it on to merge with the strength of other can true perfection eventually be reached. Finally, of all the forces in existence, stupidity and prejudice need to be fought hardest, for they are more destructive than any beast.

Clergy and Temples
Lord Gareth's temples and clergy can take nearly any form, usually abiding by local custom at least superficially. They are often nearby but slightly set apart from major cities, close enough to be easily reached but far enough to hold themselves distinct. They are always open to all, save only those who give the clergy there cause to permanently eject them. Considering how rare this is and how strong an offense it takes, those ejected usually don't survive the experience.

His clergy also come in all forms, and rotate frequently in order to gain experience from as many disparate peoples and ways of life as possible. All are focused on the twin goals of perfection of self and integration of all into one.

Lord Gareth
Lord of the Divided, The Unstoppable, Green Harbinger of War
Greater Deity
Symbol: A hexagon, inside of which are three hands (one scaly, one furred, and one human) holding a sphere.
Home Plane:Unknown
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Portfolio: Perfectionists, Half-breeds, Initiators, and Vampires
Worshipers: Nearly anyone, but especially those within his portfolio.
Cleric Alignments: LG, LN, N, LE
Domains: Law, Nobility, Cooperation, Undead, War
Favored Weapon: Greatsword

Pantheon: Pantheon of War
Relationships: Gareth is the leader of the Pantheon of War, and also holds extremely close ties to the Akasha pantheon. He dislikes xenophobes, and reacts poorly to deities who would isolate their followers from the world.

Why does it say his Pantheon is "Evil" at the bottom? Are you trying to Doomblade Erobos?

Absolute order takes two forms, one is like an unchanging museum that no one is allowed to see for to see it would add chaos. The more chaos you add the more uniform things get until everything is perfectly uniform resulting in perfect order, again unwitnessable. Meanwhile to create order you must add some element of chaos to the mix to achieve your goal of either uniformity or segregation. Chaos and order are two faces of the same coin each leading to the other, but never truly obtainable. The real opposites are uniformity and segregation. I chose the path of chaos for i find it fun and i see far to many people trying to add order to the world. This is the wisdom of the ambiguously powerful Knee'oh Fee-Nix.
