1) Visage/Aspect of the Deity grant you Celestial (or Fiendish) template, and Greater Visage/Aspect of the Deity make you into Half-Celestial (or Half-Fiend). But what if you are not qualify for those templates? (Similar issue with Planar Embrace psionic power)

2) Lesser Visage/Aspect of the Deity (and, by extension, "normal" and Greater versions, because they directly based on Lesser version) says: "your body changes into a form more like your deity's". OK...
But what if your deity is different gender than you?
What if your deity is quadrupedal, but you are not?
What's if you worship a whole pantheon?
What if you are a follower of the Silver Flame?
Tenebrous Apostate?
Athar?
What if your deity is the Nyarlathotep?
(Issues - except first 2 - also applied to the spell Manifestation of the Deity)

Specific trumps general, you gain the template even if you don't qualify.

Both of the spells you list specify "in a very limited manner, of course" and then go on to list the benefits you get. It's not unreasonable to say that these are the only ways in which your body becomes more like your deity's. The Spell Compendium version of Lesser Visage doesn't even mention this, instead saying "your appearance reflects her divine power."

If you haven't got a deity, then it looks like the DM. :smalltongue:

Athar are not "haven't got a deity". They got the Great Unknown. But what's it look like?
Tenebrous Apostate got Tenebrous. Not exactly a deity, but still... Also, once again, what's he look like?
Silver Flame is difficult...

All you get is her beautiful blonde hair and her pouty red lips.

"More like" <> "like".

Tenebrous is just Orcus, Silver Flame looks like itself, the Great Unknown is basically also the DM (or you could have pieces of your body become shrouded in mystery).

OK, "very limited manner" allow much of stretching and hand-waving, but then what's about the Manifestation of the Deity?
What if your deity is too big to fit in a room? What if you are bigger than your deity?
If worshiper of a pantheon cast it, will it depict the whole pantheon?
What's will be shown if philosophers of the Academy (Deities & Demigods) will cast it?
Athar?
How it will look, if caster is worshiper of Araumycos, Neth "the Plane that Lives", or Amoebic Sea?

And one more time, what's about the Nyarlathotep? He has numerous avatars, all of them are freaky, bun no two are alike (link (http://yog-blogsoth.blogspot.ru/search/label/Nyarlathotep))

Silver Flame looks like itself Isn't Silver Flame an abstract concept derived from legend about imprisonment of Bel Shalor by couatl and Tira Miron?
