Temple to the Dark [Plot]

The entrance to this secret temple is tucked away in a corner of the Sewers. It is decorated in the classic Evil CultTM style. Attempts to scry and teleport in from the outside are blocked; even divine senses cannot penetrate its veil.

[Kyrian]

Jess wonders where he be at.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((Yup. Both of you have been sacrificed and raised off-screen))

[Kyrian]

Jess looks around, mostly for Drake.

[Nevrmore]

"My head and...chest cavity hurt." Floyd says, sitting up.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Drake is lowering the hood of his black cloak, as are the other cultists who participated in the sacrifice.

[Kyrian]

Jess smirks as he looks around, then starts feeling his chest, remembering what happened that brings him to now.

[Nevrmore]

"Um...so, yeah...I was promised a new purpose in life and stuff...how is this going to happen in.." Floyd takes a whiff of the air, "...The sewers?"

[Lord Iames Osari]

You have been reborn by the will of the Dark, to do his bidding.

[Nevrmore]

"Umm, wow. When you said I was going to get a new mission in life I thought you were, like, going to take me to one of those places that tells you what careers you'd be good at."

[Kyrian]

Sounds like fun.

Drake smirks. The Dark has granted both of you great mental powers, to serve him more effectively. To Jess: Oh, it is, Drake says with relish.

[Kyrian]

Jess closes his eyes for a moment, and grins.

((Not that big of a change for Jess :P ))

((My god...Floyd is LE, now?! The ramifications of this will be horrific!))

"Mental powers? What about my guitar? Where's Atom Heart?" Floyd looks around for his axe.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((??? How does becoming more chaotic make you lawful? *is confused*))

Your guitar is here, Drake says soothingly; one of the other cultists brings it forward.

((Wait, I'm confused. I thought he just kept going down the line, like traveling from good to neutral to evil, so going from the last Neutral (CN) would take him to the first evil (LE) I guess I'm wrong?))

"Thank god!" Floyd takes his guitar and hugs it in a sort of creepy way.

((Yah. Alignment isn't a single continuum, it's a pair of continuums: the Lawful - Neutral - Chaotic one and the Good - Neutral - Evil continuum, so becoming more evil moves you along the GNE continuum, and becoming more chaotic moves you along the LNC continuum.))

"Hey, um, guy." Floyd points at Drake, indicating him as 'guy', "Is it normal that, after being like, inducted or whatever to this thing, I suddenly have weird urges to hurt people?"

Drake nods, baring his teeth in what might be called a smile. Yes.

[Nevrmore]

"Oh, okay. Cool."

[Lord Iames Osari]

You can leave whenever you wish, Drake says. You can ask me or any of us to show you the way out.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Drake shrugs and divests himself of his cloak, then leaves through the door. After navigating the labyrinthine passages, he comes to another door, which he goes through.

"H-hey, wait!" Floyd, swallowing his fears, gets up and chases after Drake.

[Lord Iames Osari]

In one of the many chambers, a group of cultists are gathered in a circle, chanting.

[Kyrian]

Jess wanders in.

[Lord Iames Osari]

A cultist goes over to Jess. "Greetings, Jess. The Dark has a mission for you."

[Kyrian]

Really now? Jess grins. What does my dark Lord have for me?

[Lord Iames Osari]

"We want you to attack the police station. You will have the assistance of a large number of demons; we are opening the gate now."

[Kyrian]

Sounds like fun.

[Lord Iames Osari]

"Indeed." He bares his teeth. The chanting reaches a climax, and a gate spirals open. The cultists part ranks, and balors and mariliths come through in a flood.

The lead balor reaches Jess and looks down at him. We are ready to serve the Dark, mortal.

[Kyrian]

Jess crosses his arms and waits. He starts counting the demons.

[Rebonack]

((Aahhh.... This is going to happen while I'm busy looking at embryonic pigs...

*is sad*))

[Lord Iames Osari]

There are lots of them; that much is clear. The passageways are narrow for creatures their size, so they are in single file, making it difficult for him to get an accurate count.

The lead balor remembers something.

Here. The Dark instructed us to give this to you. He hands Jess a rod of some kind of metal.

[Kyrian]

Jess looks up at the balor as he takes the rod. What is this? And I'd watch your tongue. Call me mortal, and it may be your last words. Now let's go. He heads off towards the station.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The demons follow. It is a device which is capable of absorbing any metal in its vicinity, at the direction of the wielder.

[Kyrian]

((oh dear sweet god....you know you're never getting this back, right?))

Jess keeps walking, smirking at the rod.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((Oh, ve haff our vayz...))

Would it not be quicker to teleport, mor... What is your name?

[Kyrian]

Jess. And if you wish to teleport, go for it. Though someone needs to bring me along.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Did the Dark not grant you the ability to teleport thrice in every day?

[Kyrian]

Oh...guess he did. Very well then. After you all.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The demons teleport.

[Kyrian]

Jess looks around for a moment before vanishing as well.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The demons reappear in the sewers, enter, and go back through the gate.

[Kyrian]

Jess appears in the temple and growls.

[Lord Iames Osari]

One of the cultists offers him a robe.

[Kyrian]

Jess takes it and throws it on.

[Lord Iames Osari]

"How did it go?"

[Kyrian]

Place is destroyed....and apparently it's cost me my car.

"A pity. What is a car, exactly?"

[Kyrian]

I'll explain another time.

"Very well."

[Kyrian]

Jess spends the remainder of the evening, praying to the Dark.

Svadris leaves the Temple.

A group of demons is again summoned; they teleport away as they come through the gate.

Drake leaves via the main entrance and climbs up the ladder to the streets.

Drake comes inside and stumbles to his room.

Svadris comes in and goes to his coffin, which he gets into.

Drake wakes up and makes his way to the main entrance.

A group of NPC cultists leave the Temple.

Svadris comes out of his coffin and leaves the Temple.

Clergyman State's ghost sinks down through the sewers, eventually settling in front of the Temple entrance. He looks like he's waiting for someone.

((And how does Clergyman State even know where the entrance is?))

[NecroPaladin]

((Magtok's scout robots, spying on the police searching for the temple, various other intelligence gathering, etc. He's been planning this for a while.

And hey, if you don't want a meeting, I can just edit him out. Really, this is just for the sake of the plot because Magtok and I wanted to make a three-organization Axis of Evil.))

Alerted by Random's creations, a cultist in a black, hooded robe comes out.

The ominous music starts as Clergyman State's skeletal rictus extends from ear to ear.

"I want...an alliance."

((A group of creations are effectively acting as security cameras for the cultists. They bumped into the cultists in the sewers and Random agreed to help the cultists in return for an as yet undecided favor.))

((Ah, didn't see that. Wow, coincidence!))

"The destruction of our mutual foes."

He floats over to the cultist, his spectral helmet sliding low on his face.

"You know of whom I speak?"

The police, I assume?

[NecroPaladin]

"Indeed. The Police must dissapear. Them and the scum that so permeate the streets. Your type specializes in their removal and rehabilitation."

State continues to slowly revolve around the cultist, drifting as he speaks.

"And that is a skill that is most valuable."

[Lord Iames Osari]

We can move against all the police but one, and of them all, the one we cannot move against is the most important.

[NecroPaladin]

"Who is?"

State tenses impatiently, and draws a spectral baton for no particular reason.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The captain, Aerin Osari. It is frustrating. She can end the Dark's supremacy merely by confronting him, and yet if we removed her, the Dark's wrath would turn on us.

[NecroPaladin]

"Suppose we were not to remove her...but to simply keep her in place...would the Dark turn on us then?"

State settles down, sitting in thin air and eyes focused on the cultist.

[Lord Iames Osari]

He would not, but she can swear in more officers... But perhaps... yes, perhaps... if we could convert her to become of of us, that would be as good.

But I am becoming distracted. It is clear what you would gain. Why should we do this for you?

[NecroPaladin]

"We are currently selling the souls of our prisoners to an Archdevil."

He grins even wider, if that's possible.

"We have a regular influx of these prisoners. Perhaps in an alliance, they would not ALL find themselves in hell."

[Lord Iames Osari]

I see. That is most agreeable, the cultist says. Very well; we will begin our preparations. Consider an alliance to be formed.

[NecroPaladin]

State raises his hand, and a black portcullis jets up from the stone floor. Although the K.N.A.V.E.S base is at least a few hundred yards straight up, it is clearly visible through the gate.

"Consider this an access route. We will not leave you dissapointed."

[Lord Iames Osari]

Nor shall we, the cultist promises.

Svadris comes in, carrying Gezina. After the cultists build her a coffin, he puts her inside, then gets into his own coffin.

Alerted by the "creations", the cultists begin preparing for battle - summoning demons, donning armor, using self-buffs, and the like.

[Dartonus]

No, I have not seen your piratemonk. Have you seen my saurous? Yes, I have seen your private message. Megaman's Momogra will take a while to dig through the wall, then. Their adamant shovels will prevail eventually.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The momogra, having released a small circular metal plate from the wall, dig back to megaman.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The cultists activate various magical traps and defenses scattered through the Temple.

[Dartonus]

The momogras didn't tunnel all the way through the wall.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((Okay. The cultists can still activate traps.))

[Dartonus]

Protoman, megaman, metalman, and the viruses arrive at the almost destroyed wall. a swordy puts its head to the wall and listens.

They hear nothing except the sounds that come from the sewers and through the ground overhead.

[Dartonus]

Protoman revises his battle plans, metalman gets his thruster ready, and megaman loads his chips. The momogra dig a side tunnel, sealing it behind them. There is a great tension in the cramped cavern.

Still, silence but for the sounds of the momogra digging.

[Dartonus]

A diglett pops up in the tunnel, which causes an audible uproar for anyone with their ear on that wall. Megaman begins shooting it repeatedly.

Gezina wakes up from being dead, the transformation into a vampire complete.

((Is the coffin closed or open))

((Closed, but openable from the inside))

Gezina opens the coffin and steps out.

Gezina doesn't seem to be entirely happy.

Iames the Dark. I am bound to serve his will, and you are bound to mine. Come; this temple is expecting an attack. Let us see if we can find our foes.

Yes master.

Gezina doesn't seem to have any weapons, nor armor. Not to mention she's still blind.

Here, take this. Svadris provides Gezina with an item of touchsight.

Gezina takes it, but the item simple doesn't function as she puts it on, a divine force is blocking it from taking effect.

What is it supposed to do?

It is supposed to generate a telekinetic field that lets you feel the location of everything within a certain radius, Svadris frowns.

Well, either the item is broken or something prevents it from functioning.

Gezina sighs, having made a very educated guess upon which of the two options is it.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Well, we don't have time to experiment. Just stay here, and if you hear anyone coming, turn into a cloud.

((I have to go for a while))

It will be done.

Gezina sits down.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Svadris turns into a cloud of mist and begins searching for the source of the sound of the shooting.

[Dartonus]

The shooting stops and a very large stone disk is sent crashing across the room. megaman activates two chips and flicckers briefly.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((so they're inside now?))

[Dartonus]

Yep. and they wrecked the wall.

[Lord Iames Osari]

((Okay.))

They are in an empty stretch of corridor. It extends 60 feet on their left, then comes to a corner, while to the right, it goes for 20 feet before coming to a door.

[Dartonus]

They begin to set up a defensive position.

[Lord Iames Osari]

A cloud of mist issues from the crack under the door.

[InaVegt]

mGezina appears just out of the temple, turns ethereal and enters, when inside she turns back to the material plane.

Svadris! I have an offer for you.

[Lord Iames Osari]

There is a sigh, although it is impossible to tell where it's coming from. What is it?

[InaVegt]

I have the right to temporarily allow the item of touchsight to work, I will require something in exchange. A single mission for my mirror, Gezina, your latest spawn.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Done, Svadris answers impatiently.

[InaVegt]

Order Gezina to kill her husband and the item will work for as long as she remains under your control. Under no circumstances is she allowed to turn him into a vampire or other undead, but there will be additional prices for you if his death is particularly gruesome.

[Lord Iames Osari]

There is one thing I would ask of you now, rather than later, Svadris says, beginning to coalesce in front of Megaman and the others.

Sure, I'll help you out, as soon as you order my mirror to do what I want.

mGez draws her bastard swords (one bone, one adamantine, both soul stealing)

[Lord Iames Osari]

Svadris passes mGez's instructions to Gezina.

[InaVegt]

mGez doesn't forget to give Gez an item of Ethereal travel, before readying for battle.

It will be done.

Gezina's voice sounds like she's trying not to show any emotion but fails horribly, after saying this she turns ethereal and leaves the temple.

[Dartonus]

Megaman draws a solgun 1 chip and fires it, unleashing natural, life draining sunlight at the vampires.
DIE!

[Lord Iames Osari]

Svadris hisses as the sunlight begins to burn at him, but he charges Megaman and tries to knock the gun aside while aming a soul-draining punch at Megaman's face with all the supernatural speed and strength of vampirekind.

[Dartonus]

Megaman gets hit, but the antidamage chip he used earlier takes effect and a dummy takes his place as he leaps up into the air and hurls three 100-damage shuriken at Svadris. Afterwards, he picks up Solgun 1, draws Solgun 2, and fires both straight at Svadris.
Die, lifeleeching scum!

[Lord Iames Osari]

As the attacks strike Svadris, he puffs into vapor and begins flowing back under the door he came under in the first place.

[Dartonus]

Megaman charges his buster and fires, creating a 5 foot wide tornado centered on Svadris.

[Lord Iames Osari]

The whirl of wind tugs at wisps of Svadris's gaseous form, but he makes it under the door.

[Dartonus]

Megaman activates a program advance. two sunlight generators appear, pointed at the doorway and the hallway in the opposite direction. If anything hostile comes, it'll be hit with a beam of concentrated sunlight.

((Hmmm. Dartonus, perhaps we could pause this while we wait for Gez to get back?))

[Dartonus]

Fine by me.

Megaman creates a darkhole in the ground and goes through it. It will serve as a portal back when the time comes. He then goes through it, taking his army of Viruses with him.
