Does anyone know of a feat that allows one to make an Attack of Opportunity with a ranged weapon? I have an ability as a ranged combatant that allows me to threaten a 20ft. area, and I plan on using that with Combat Reflexes. This is my first delve into ranged combat to this extent, and am unsure of the AoO rules for ranged combat.

If you're threatening a 20ft. area, you can already make an AoO when someone provokes one in that area.

The PHB does, at one point, define an AoO as a melee attack specifically (p137). But I don't know what threatening an area could mean other than getting AoO when someone provokes in it.

This is what I thought.. until I read the AoO rules on the SRD.

If you have Improved Unarmed Strike or Spiked Armour, then you threaten at 5' when armed with a Bow. Chances are you cannot make an Attack of Opportunity with a Ranged Weapon, but if you could, that's one way it would be possible.

Meh, the 3.0 Order of the Bow Initiate had something to offer in that department, but there are no feats for it. Mainly because it would be brutally effective, and would cramp spellcasters' styles. And we all know that cramping of spellcasters is taboo.

The only ability that comes close in 3.5 is the Rogue's Opportunist ability, which doesn't specify whether the opportunistic strike has to be melee or not. But you don't actually threaten in that case, just get a 1/round AoO against a foe struck in melee by an ally. And you'd have to take 10 levels of Rogue for it.

I looked up the errata on the ability and Viola! I answered my own question. Thanks everyone!

There's also the halfling rogue racial substitution levels in RoTW
