The Sixth Tellurian Games
-Summer, 522-

All Guests note - any alliances or trades or betrothals can be merged into your action of attending the games, so long as you summarize all occurrences in your action post.

All rulers in attendance are invited to stay in the homes of the local Huroshan nobility upon appointment, or in prepared luxury cabins nearby the Earthhome itself. Space has also been allocated on Academy grounds should any attending ruler wish to have a pavilion erected instead. Alzerite organizers can be found all around, working together with Huroshan workers and other personel to make the experience a pleasant one.

Demonstration events from any realm are welcome. They serve as an opportunity for a culture to show off their most prized feats in a noncompetitive atmosphere.

Locations
Academy of Culture and Prowess:
One of the biggest centers of science and learning in Telluris, the sprawling campus of the Academy stretches out for miles, with the center being the old main campus itself. Thousands of students inhabit the campus, practicing all kinds of science and fighting arts. Just outside the main campus a huge stadium stands, usually used for massive melees and duals alike, but its size lends it quite well for the Games themselves. The Academy in Kasumor cooperated with the Academy in Alzeroth to host these games, a venture well enjoyed by both parties.

Earthhome:
As the traditional seat of the Shďnguard and the city that lies the most central of all major settlements in the country, Earthhome is a blooming city for trade, militairy training and religious purposes, as well as being the place where the Shďnguard keeps him watch on the country to ensure the happiness and safety of his people. It is divided into an Inner City, which hold the Kyuden, which is the palace/keep in which the Shďnguard/Eienguard resides, the Library of the Ancients, a library which even holds some documents written by the Cloudiz people when they were still abundant as a race. For the rest, it hosts a big tower with a platform on top, which is used to facilitate transport with the help of the giant insects Kasumor is known for, in addition to zeppelins and other flying vehicles. The houses here are organised nearly into a circle-ray pattern.
On the outer side, there is the Outer City, which is a disorganised mess of streets. This is to throw off any enemy advance who wants to take the Outer city. Because of this, signs stand around in most areas showing the directions to most major commodoties in the city. These are removed as soon as the city is under attack. Most smithies are located in this area, as well as most stables and craftmen, making this the primary area for trade. The outside of each area is surrounded by a big wall of around 20 meters high, made of high quality Shintouite.

Shintouite Mountain Range:
The stage for the various flying contests, these beautiful pitchblack mountains are a sight to behold. Snow lines the tops and while birds of prey are aflight in the higher regions of the sky, the lower areas are teeming with all kinds of wildlife, from huge insectiods to other giant wildlife.

Endurance Ride course:
The Endurance Ride starts at the village of Kasumin, going through the Kasumin plains, pitting the contestants against Sleep pollen, semi-heavy winds other relativaly minor environmental hazzards. The race takes the combatants through this environment, therafter following the roads in a lengthly ride to Earthhome.

Stormsurge Assault: Two crews aboard zeppelins fight eachother using boarding tactics and manouvering. The one that first disables the enemies zeppelin or crew wins the match.

Menhirin Chess: A game based on wits and tactics rather than physical strenght, Menhirin Chess do not actually use live Menhirin any longer (Unless you can find enough Menhirin that agree to do it, which is not too far a stretch. When treated as equal, Menhirin do not mind playing a few rounds).

Bucka-craft Racing: Competitors race in specially prepared Bucka-made hovercrafts. They come equiped with all kinds of gizmos, designed to shoot fruit, shells and fireworks to disrupt other hovercrafts. The catch: you can only use the gizmo's using special keys found hanging all about the track. The first to finish wins the game.

Mantid Wrestling: Competitors wrestle a giant mantid barehanded. This sport is highly dangerous and despite heavy supervision, lethal injuring are not uncommon.

"It's not on the bloody list!"

The Earl of Horbeach was on his feet, and several others thumped the bench in approbation.

"This is a disgrace, my lords. We are invited to participate in this... this mockery of a Games, one where we are insulted before our athletes have even left home. Was it not promised by Queen Anguri that there would always be a naval event at the Games? The Qarimosi sabotage at the Fourth Games was bad enough, but this is of an altogether different order. We should boycott this event and send a message to the world that we will not allow ourselves to be treated in this shabby way!"

The king was rather glad no foreigners were here to see this, for few of them would understand the sense of injured pride that came all too naturally to his people on this subject. The Earl spoke not just for himself - nor for the dozen other lords who agreed with him and applauded his words, but for the people of his clan and all the clans around the coast. He suspected the reaction in the commons would have been, if anything, worse. To be denied the opportunity to test their seamanship against the rest of the world was a grievous blow, and he suspected a Caercian would react no more strongly to being deprived of his horse, or a Guilderene his purse.

For many, especially in the south, and rather more importantly, it was a question not merely of pride but of livelihood. The Games provided an all-too-rare opportunity for the shipwrights to show off their artistry to a global audience and win commissions, to say nothing of the sailors and captains themselves looking for contracts of engagement overseas. Many had already been grumbling about the delay to this Games, but for there to be no event at all would be a disaster, no doubt ruinous for some. Still, some perspective had to be maintained, and though the pro-boycott faction was strong: an eparch, four earls, most of the senior admiralty and up to a quarter of the more minor nobles - they had lost that perspective.

"My lords," Elwyn said, raising his voice slightly to quiet the hubbub, "I hear your complaints and sympathise with you and with your people on this matter. I do not however believe that this is an insult so much as an oversight. This is typical northerner short-sightedness; we all know that the Huroshans are a self-regarding people and I find it easier to believe it simply did not occur to them that anyone would place importance upon the naval event, since they are more concerned with showing off their own... prowess on land and in the air." That drew a slight chuckle at least.

"Nor do I believe we are the only people who will find fault with this omission. The people of Qarimos, of the Confederation, of Novrania, will doubtless share our opinion. To remove ourselves from the Games altogether would however be an error of judgment, for it would deprive not just our maritime representatives of this chance to compete at the highest level but all our folk, and that would be to compound the problem. Instead we should take comfort in the knowledge that our ships and sailors will remain undisputed world champions for another fifteen or twenty years, and seek to increase the strength of our people's reputation in other fields until the next Games is held by a more reasonable people and we can prove the power of our navy to the world once again.

"Your concerns do not deserve to pass entirely unremarked. I therefore invite the lords supporting this motion to draft a letter of complaint to the Empress of Hurosha in their own names, which, if done, I shall present to her myself when I attend."

They were not happy, but they could tell it was the best they would get from him, and returned grumbling to their seats as the next order of business was announced.

Day 1, Earthhome

A large delegation from the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea arrived in Earthhome, their presence remarkable from some distance away by the two dragons above them, each similar in size, though not in colour: the first was a rich golden hue, the second a sleek blue-grey. Surrounding the dragons were a host of smaller creatures, mainly man-sized. There were few of the great huma of Tempestia here, for the war had wreaked a terrible toll on the sky-knights and that kingdom was still recovering from and mourning its losses. There were however some perytons, and a rather larger number of harpies.

The dragonriders dismounted before the gates to transfer to horseback, their identities familiar to any who had attended recent global events of importance. The king, Elwyn, was one, and would have been distinctive by his coal-black skin even had it not been for the gold cloth of his garments. The second was Princess Ellyn, daughter of the king's former rival Alfmark, now closer to forty than thirty but still beautiful - many would say even moreso than she had been ten years ago during the great controversy of the beauty contest.

The king joined Isesu at the head of the procession. While she could quite easily have taken wing alongside her husband, that she had not on the final stretch was something of a concession to the modesty of Mere Carminë and Huroshans both; it would not do for the Carmine Queen to arrive in Earthhome naked, after all. A fraction behind them was a young man with skin not entirely dissimilar to that of Elwyn's dragon, though even so somewhat darker. Those familiar with Jarrland heraldry or skilled at making assumptions would be able to identify him as the king's eldest son, Alfdynn.

Day 4, Ranged Tourney

The Duke of Sunder was in his sixties, a veteran of two previous Games and more than one war. Despite his formidable record however some speculated that age would have dimmed his powers. Still, he was King's Champion and head of a proud archery clan, and his entering into the ranged tourney was the minimum expected.

He was the first to shoot, and quickly proved the doubters wrong with three excellent shots; even the Islings cheered when the third hit home. The Duke had laid down a strong marker for any further challengers, and it would take a truly exceptional performance to defeat him.

Praeclarus arrives with little fanfare. They quietly show up on several of these rafts... though those of a keener eye when it comes to ship-building may no longer be repulsed by the sight of them. The rafts were still nothing compared to the great ships of other nations, but now they looked like they were put together on purpose. They would not win beauty contests; no, but they no longer looked like they might fall apart at the slightest tug on the wrong piece of lumber. The Makgrull, it would seem, have been learning.

Once off the docks, the Makgrull delegation walked to the Academy, in a group compromised of nearly fifty creatures. Most of them were tall, male Makgrull, or lithe, athletic females... but here and there were Orators, and even a smattering of Malleus were in attendance. Moira of the Malleus rode atop her guard, but she was not the only one of her sisters here. Mavella - who attended the Midsummer Knights Festival - and another female were also riding atop their Male escorts.

Boisterous and loud, Chief Praestes U'ther laughed as he led the Warriors from the front. He'd been at the last games, and was excited to participate again. Though he was constantly moving around, full of energy, and letting out a steady stream of disapproval for any Makgrull that made mistakes... his eyes were hardened and constantly watching. It had been years, after all, since the Sanctus Makgrull had left Mother Sea for one of these events.

And sure enough, in the middle of Warriors and Praestes, Sanctus Makgrull B'tman himself was in attendance. His first appearance, some twenty plus years ago, had shaken the world with the revelation that the Makgrull existed. He was older now, and it showed. There were wrinkles near his pink colored eyes, and he was walking slower... though that may have been because he was walking arm and arm with his wife, Chief Explorer C'gnin. Behind them both was the heir apparent, the first Son of the Sanctus, T'manc. The second Son, if he were coming, would be brought by Tzalteclan; where he had been the ward for more then half a decade.

Though U'ther was on high alert - as was his job - the Sanctus Makgrull was not noticeably concerned. They were, after all, in the lands of Hurosha; a close political ally, and the other founding member of the Protection of Aquatic Dwellers League. The Sanctus was here to thank the Empress for her actions towards the Watcher, and hopefully clear up any other misunderstandings... and maybe make a few more trades. To help with that, Chief Orator T'chep was fluttering about, smiling and talking, as the entire delegation made it's way to the Academy and the quarters they would be staying in.

-----------------

Shortly after their arrival, officials for the games receive notice that Praeclarus will participate in all events, regardless of their danger or the suitability to existing Makgrull/Malleus knowledge.

Nations that Orator T'chep is Interested In Speaking With:
- UJR
- Tzalteclan
- Sycia
- Caramel
- Palitanate of Myrwik (NPC, invited to the games by Praeclarus)
- ...anyone who wants to trade things!

Sycia

One of the many perks of being Sycia's ambassador was being able to visit the Games, watch them with all the excitement of a fan, and put it all on the country's tab. She intended to do her job while here, of course, she'd never spend the country's coffers just for fun (especially not during a war) but as long as she could enjoy it without hurting her own nation, why not?

The Holy Kingdom of Sycia arrived with enough athletes to participate in all the games, but otherwise their procession was very small. Head Priestess of Foreign Affairs Edea, her personal guard (a pack of Wolfborn and Kikyo Iceborn), and some guards for the athletes.

Arts Contest
(1d12+3)[8]

My Nation's art entry is a large, elaborate embroidered tapestry of the Wheel of Life. There are detailed scenes depicting the birth of Queen Areta and King Uialaben's second child, and the naming ceremony, there are scenes from the royal couple's wedding and scenes from Queen Nui's funeral going around in a circle. In the middle of the circle is the tree, The Great Knot, that the Broken Enclave is built around and depends upon. Around the tapestry's border are leaves and flowers sewn with sparkly green and pink threads.

Queen Areta sat beside her husband under the Kingdom of Isles pavillion and watched their daughter stride purposefully towards the dueling arena. She had informed her parents this morning of her intentions to enter the duel contests and could not be dissuaded despite her Mother's best efforts. Areta's eyes shifted to King Uialaben whose eyes were also following Mellado. "You may have attempted to talk her out of it.." she chided her husband gently. Uialaben smiled and put his arm around his wife, trying to ease her worries, "Mellado is nearly a full grown woman and will be queen someday, we have to give her some freedom to make her own choices. Besides, she's been telling us about her training in the Sea Serpent prowess style for years, I'm looking forward to seeing it in action." His eyes gleamed with pride as their 5 year old son ran up to them waving a wooden sword, "I'm gonna be just like Mellado when I grow up!" Areta couldn't stifle a smile as Prince Nymir ran off again and she sighed, "I suppose you're right." She said grudgingly. "besides," Uialaben said brightly, "Mellado's future husband might be in attendance." Areta couldn't mask her surprise at her husband's words, "You wish to marry her off to another Kingdom?" Uialaben patted her hand in reassurance, "I was thinking it more as if another Kingdom wanted to marry their son off to her, she wouldn't be going anywhere, The world is shrinking and the Isles are growing, I think it would be wise to solidify alliances with a marriage." Areta was a bit mollified by this but it left so many questions, she sat quietly and mulled over her thoughts for a while.

It was rare that the Kingdom of Mularuhm elected to venture to the surface, even rarer that surface they ventured to was outside the lands of the Imperium. Nevertheless the forging of the Seven Swords and the desire of the Elder Smiths to show their craft publicly demanded they travel forth, even if it meant traveling to the lands of the honorless and oath breaking Huroshans.

The dwarven retinue was larger than the Mularuhm generally traveled being composed of athletes, members of the Mithredge clan who had elected to compete in the Games while the other regions of the kingdom shuffled to rebuild armies from the reconquest of Norogh and the Sunset War. At the head of them was the Reichtin, though he would not be competing in the contests himself, nearing two centuries in age as he was. The King headed up the entire procession, accompanied by his Queen, the daughter of the Reichtin. At King Konrad's hip Quake hung proudly, the Dwarven craftsmanship beyond compare to anything that had been forged since the Cataclysm. Behind the royal couple walked the Elder Smiths, bedecked in finery ill fitting to their rough appearance yet they seemed unaware of the disparity.

The retinue arrived at the Games and made for quarters to be arranged, taking special care to ensure the gold provided from their coffers would rent themselves a room and not simply the proposition of a room to be renegged on should the owner feel it appropriate to should other guests make a racket. Once that business was squared away the royal couple and the Elder Smiths ventured out looking for the familiar faces of the Imperium and hoping to run across the Tzaltec and Faedas delegations as well.

Art Contest Entry: The Caramel Kingdom has crafted a fine selection of artistic armors to represent their skills at the Sixth Tellurian Games. While not designed to function in combat, the use of Garb in their creation has created armors of imposing forms. The armors have been crafted in a way so as to represent the ten natural elements of the world. Displayed in an arrangement of two rings, there is a set of ten female armors facing inwards with a set of ten male armors encircling them facing outwards. Due to the nature of the Garb crafted within the armors, the order of the elements that each armor represents rotates around the entire display. Natural Elements: Fire, Ice, Light, Dark, Energy, Air, Water, Earth, Plant, Metal.

The Salterri did not often have to travel to places via land, other than the lands of Carmine, Mularuhm or Pavonia, so when it was announced that the Games would take place in Hurosha, the route planners wondered about how they would get there. They eventually settled on going by sea via the Jeweled Cities to Celero and take a land road from there. Some of the party went a more direct route, taking flight straight towards Earthhome on wings of dragons, huma and perytons.

Day 3 - Midday and early afternoon

Many of the members of the Carmine delegation gathered in the Academy building to watch the duels. So far the Games had been mixed: an excellent performance by Princess Ellyn in the foot race had helped compensate for a predictably poor show in the mass melee: with so many casualties in the recent war, available soldiery was at a low ebb. The king himself took up a prime seat, surrounded by his family and close counsellors, while others of the kingdom grabbed spaces wherever they could find it.

Many had called for Elwyn himself to take to the arena, as a former champion and having been narrowly edged out in the previous Games, a display of martial ability which had nevertheless gone down in legend after he faced down two of the mighty Dunfel. The king had rebuffed any such calls: whether because he was sick of fighting, feared the consequences of personal defeat, or simply wished to let youth have its day, he had refused to fight and invited other contestants from the kingdom to test their mettle.

The duellist who took the field was Deryn Menwyr, a younger son of Lord Menwyr. "Too young," growled the Duke of Sunder. "You should have allowed me to fight, lord king."

"You will get your chance in the ranged tourney, Radber," Elwyn replied. "Would you hog all the glory?"

They had laughed at that, but the laughter soon died away, at least from within the delegation. Deryn was perhaps unfortunate in that his first opponent was from Hurosha, one eager to make his mark on the duels, and who opened with a clear statement of intent, completely outclassing the young Jarrlander. Deryn rallied slightly in the next bout against Emperor Ridion, but it was a narrow loss and from that point onwards his confidence appeared to collapse. Defeats to Kikyo of Sycia and even a swordsman of the Caramel Kingdom followed. The Glazfelli Nothokua seemed to treat the bout almost with disdain, but so shot were Deryn's nerves that he was still unable to take advantage and was handily defeated.

Eldys shifted next to him, looking for all the world like he would rather be somewhere else. "Stay where you are," the king said, softly but firmly.

The Mularuhm duellist seemed to take pity on Deryn, apparently slowing his moves and allowing the young lordling the chance to regroup mentally. Although he still lost the bout 0-3, from that point onwards his performance seemed to improve slightly, managing a couple of draws and even a win, albeit against one of the Praeclarans unused to fighting on land.

"Father, we should not stay," Alfdynn muttered. "This is an embarrassment."

"It is sobering. And not without value. See - a fine performance from another of our subjects!" He gestured to Princess Mellado, who in a major upset had defeated Lord Ridion. "There is much to be learned from defeat as well as victory, and it is often in defeat that folk show their true character."

"This is humiliating!"

"We do not show weakness," the king said. "And we do not abandon our people in their time of need." They stayed to the end, though they knew there was no hope of winning.

Day 3 - Evening

Soon after arrival, a number of wagons had been brought into the city, and transported to a location close to the Halls of Culture. For the next couple of days, the sound of banging and scraping could be heard, though none save members of the Carmine delegation were permitted to see what. Finally, on the afternoon of the third day, the secrecy was cast aside, and the entry for the arts contest rolled out.

It was a ship, full-sized and beautiful. Whether she was seaworthy was doubtful, for she had clearly been rapidly assembled from pre-constructed sections brought along in the wagons, and likely absent an internal structure, but she looked for all the world like a true ship, correct in every detail. As she emerged into the open air, masts were pulled into place, complete with furled sails. Unlike a warship, however, she was painted, bright beams in gold and purple, and the intersections showing scenes from each of the kingdoms: here a tableau of huma soaring above Oros; there a knight of Discordia in full tourney array; King Athelmere taming the first of the royal lions; the sacrifice of Earl Siggi; the duel between Ambryn and Tailong. The prow was a carved dragon covered with gold leaf, looking for all the world like the king's mount Lumisand. The stern bore the legend and the name of this facsimile: Pride of Our People.

At the opening of the arts contest, the king made his way to the ship to congratulate those involved in its construction. They presented him with a demijohn of wine (rumoured afterwards to be from Raaneka) which he broke against the side of the vessel, announcing the ship's launching, even if its only battleground was to be against other works of art.

The Seaborne Confederation decided to show off its latest invention at the games. They arrived in a trio of Skyships. The vessels moved at around three and a half sound per minute, travelling four to five sound above the ground. Sailing on broad reach winds, it batten sails were canted and full. Four large tubs with some kind of rotating workings inside them pointed out and down from the hull. They circled, then touched down, in a nearby lake. Longboats soon brought the party to shore.

Arts contest:
The Seaborne Confederation chose to focus on art contests this games.
Their first entry was from the University of Galomyr. The music department performed a 2 hour concert of the folk songs and legends of the Confederation lands. It was at times quiet, at times raucous. But each was done in the native language, so it lost something in translation to the wider Tellurian audience.

Their second entry was a massive sculpture from renown Pono al A Ono artist Lou Zeeland. It was a pavillion of obsidian columns and glass panels. Inside, more glass, including the rare glass ore, formed multicolored columns mimicked the sea floor of a tropical reef. Blown glass fish twirled and swayed on razor thin mithril wire, casting colored shadows upon the columns. A normal sized person wandering the circuitous path through it hears only a delicate throbbing, as if waves rolling by far above. Throughout the course of the day, the light changed the patterns of shadows and colors inside, so that the experience was never the same twice.

[Arts Contest]

Normally, Sycia would construct magnificent sculptures to present to the games' art contest. It was almost always religious in some fashion, perhaps even a little behind the times. Rather famously, they had brought nothing created about the sunset war.

Those who looked upon Sycia's art contest entry would see a slight departure, though not a bad one at all. They had brought a magnificent oil painting as wide as a man was tall, depicting the folly of Hjelmi in rich, dark colors.

From the left to the right, the tale went. A warlord in Glazfell's earlier days, desperate for reinforcements, drew from the common citizenry and used them as the first wave in battle. Though the militia perished to a man, Hjelmi's army was ultimately victorious and held out until winter, when the enemy warlord could not attack. However, the winter that year was particularly harsh, and without the common citizens to provide medicine, shelter and material goods, the city died a slow and painful death. When Hjelmi's enemy returned that spring, he took the city without a single lost man. That man was Hafdaan, and he went on to become one of Yphine's strongest converts.

The appearance of Queen Lorisanth at the head of the Games shocked many. Firstly that the Queen herself had elected to travel personally and secondly for the ghastly and anemic gauntness that marked the Queen's pallor. It was no secret the happenings of the Grove over 50 years ago had affected both Loris and her sister but Kyria had never looked as sickly as her sister now did. Though her pomp royal clothes hid her emaciation beneath their cover outside the cover her skin clung to her bones and was pale and thin. A great umbrella shielded her from the sun above as she was carried in an open carriage drawn by the royal stock of horses descended from those left over from the horses once imported from Requiem. Two of the Freehold's Princes also accompanied the Queen, the Princess of Eyrecradia and the Prince of Keldagrim the lithe and sharp features of the proud elven Jarrow woman starkly contrasting the short bushiness of the bearded dwarf.

A gaggle of other various men and women of import mingled through the crowd alongside a collection of athletes who had elected to test themselves at the Games, many young and inexperienced owing to so many joining the armies and the most adept belonging to the Faedic Order. Only one member of the Order had elected to join the company and he was a newer recruit no doubt hoping to earn some prestige for himself abroad and within the Order. Time in the dueling arena would tell if that would be a successful venture or not. The young man had spent the years prior to the Games training with fighters in Galie Noiret learning Pryonian techniques long thought forgotten outside the realm of the volcanic fighters of the defunct Kingdom of Pryonia.

Upon their arrival servants of the Queen were dispatched to contact Hurosha, Tzalteclan, and Glazfell to come and meet with the Queen in her private pavilion to discuss matters of some importance. Meanwhile the young noble Handra Alabasa sought out her father among the Salterri delegation, asking among the Salterri representatives for knowledge about the Ambassador's whereabouts.

The Caercians arrived from overland mounted upon, for the most part, well known creatures. Horses and Perytons both but casting shadows across the fields of Grizzland as they swept over it and blotting out black shadows on the fields of Kasumor's Academy were two great dragons upon whose backs rode the sons of the King, Augustai and Benfu Caercia. Augustai, the Crown Prince rode upon his Storm Dragon mount Wandech, named after the legendary Qzare Wandao its magnificent silver-violet scales shining in the sunlight. Benfu rode upon the back of an ice dragon of Promise whose white-blue scales were dull so as not to shine against the snow of the dragon's natural habitat. The two brothers circled high in the sky performing aerial tricks and mock dives as the rest of the delegation arrived on foot. The Consortium had come to compete.

Praeclarus

First Day

A notice goes up, in the common area of the Academy, stating that Praeclarus will be providing a public demonstration of the new sport Underwater Polo on the fifth day, and would like to encourage any aquatic dwellers to come learn the sport... or anyone whom is interested, really. So long as they can hold their breathe underwater well! Or, you know, have Lifeskin.

On the second day of the Games, under a light honor guard, the Sanctus Makgrull and his wife, C'gnin, lesuirly made their way to the Seaborne Confederation delegation's quarters. Under B'tman's arms was a Menhirin Chess set, and the Sanctus Makgrull was smiling. His smile didn't noticeably fade when he found out that the Skipper-General was not going to be at the Games himself, but the bounce in his step was noticeably more absent. Still, Eli Grant was a welcome sight.

"Ahoy, Cousin. Have ye time for a game?"

"Oh please, Eli, say you'll play the old sea-dog. He hasn't hushed up about the game since the rules were explained to him. And no one in Praeclarus can match him, when he's in a good mood." C'gnin begged, with a grin in her voice.

"Aye! Like today!"

Meanwhile, Chief Orator T'chep was wandering around the UJR delegation's rooms, seeking an audience with the Legislator or another council member. He was very interested in their latest research, and hoping that Praeclarus could learn more about what they have been looking into with Lignum Aqua.

On the Third Day, Chief Orator T'chep is marveling at the tents of the Caramel Kingdom. He is looking for someone to speak with for potential trade opportunities between the two nations.

The Kingdom of the Carmine Sea receives a short, hand-written missive, stating:

No luck yet. Still looking. Apologies for the delay.

Tzalteclan Arrives (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY1fVrI2NFQ)

The approach of Tzalteclan on Earthhome was not a subtle thing. Perhaps they felt it necessary to display the might of their newly expanded empire. Perhaps they thought the Games, finally within distance of a proper land delegation, deserved a level of pomp only they could provide. Or perhaps they simply wished to humble Hurosha in her own capital city. Whatever the reason, word of the Empire's approach traveled in a vanguard of whispers, tales of a writhing snake of steel and silk and fire wending its way up the eastern coast. Finally, mere days before the Games were set to begin, three mighty horn blasts reverberated from the shintouite mountains, and a triumvirate of crimson airships slid into view. Rounding the bend below them was a daunting column, headed by banners bearing the Lightning Skull of Lanteroc, the Sunburst of Sharix, and of course the leering Dragon of Tzalteclan. Behind them followed fourteen lesser banners, bearing the sigils of the lesser regions encompassed by Tzaltec power. Driving these flagbearers forward was an assemblage of eighty trumpeters and sixty drummers, beating out a steady processional as they marched. Behind the musicians trailed a panoply of ribbon dancers garbed in the Tzaltec style, diving and weaving through each other like a carpet of living flame. Behind them trudged three long carriages, drawn by the roaring turtles of Amocuallan, and bearing massive horns atop them. At the sight of Earthhome's walls they let loose another blast, and the processional transitioned into a victory march as the long columns of athletes from Lanteroc, Sharix, and Tzalteclan came into view. Marching in uniforms of black and red and gold, their serpentine path seemed to drench Hurosha's soil in the colors of their most bitter enemy, an impression only exacerbated as the airships above let loose their waiting cargo of rose petals to rain down on the approaching column. Finally, the Teotlkan came into view, sitting atop a rolling wooden ziggurat more than thirty feet tall. Senusret sat rigid and proud upon a wide golden throne, the blade Unbroken naked in his hand, its tip driven into the floor beside him. Down one level of the ziggurat sat the other leaders of the Empire upon thrones of their own - mighty Stormskull and Ahmes of Lanteroc, and the mysterious new Prime Minister of Sharix, Alixvara Tierrasha, wreathed in a heavy robe of red leather and black fur. On the third and lowest tier of the rolling monstrosity stood the remaining notables among the Tzaltec delegation, Khensa and her siblings, as well as a Makgrull of all things, apparently sharing some private joke with one of the Blood. Pulled on metal-shod wheels by a team of fifty roaring turtles, the throne clearly set the pace for the delegation as well as being its functional ending, with nothing but the miles-long baggage column following behind.

As the last miles closed between the Tzaltec and the gates of Earthhome, a bloody light began to shine out from the lead airship. Standing atop its prow was a figure well known to the leaders of the world, and as he dove into the air the monstrous shadow of his true form blanketed the streets of Hurosha's capital. Wings near three hundred feet long flapped, summoning a brief windstorm in the alleys below, before Nezetkhamun gave an earth-shaping roar. In response, the Tzaltec delegation halted scant feet from the gate guardians, and unleashed a bestial cry of their own. Then they came to attention as their god emperor circled above, awaiting entry to the Academy of Culture and Prowess to raise up their great pavilions. Pavilions which would play host to nightly banquets for the Blood and their friends, in victory or defeat.

Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha

Several days ago Prime Minister Tierrasha was in a meeting to determine the proper solutions to the supply problem limiting work on the Red Canal. Nobody further down the chain had thought to take into account the lesser ability of other races to survive the heat of Valasharix. As a result, the foreigners were suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Minister Shamir had proposed just increasing our import of slave labor to offset the loses, but Minister Yadicus had a considerable amount to say about that. So did, of course, Minister Kurtella, who was concerned about what long-term effect the use of slaves would have on the justice system. Minister Andique had remained silent — and had remained so throughout the Sharixian delegation’s trip with the Tzaltec delegation, too. Her concerns had already been made extremely clear, and with much more colourful language. The rest of the cabinet had said their pieces too, of course, but compared to the financial and cultural (and diplomatic) costs of using slave labor their concerns were less important. In the end no final decision was reached, but in the meantime a stopgap measure was put into effect until a more permanent solution could be found.

Today, however, watching Xiuhtlatec Nezetkhamun transform into a dragon, she wished she was back amongst her bickering cabinet. Wrapped in the heavy and obscuring red leather and black fur coat, however, her bug-eyed response to the transformation went unnoticed. Still, she thought. Dragons die. I’ve seen the proof of that. Of course, that had been from a distance since nobody smart went into the Dragonbone Steppes, and nobody knew how the dragon had died, but she felt the point stood.

King-Regent Tharizeen Angifer

Sitting on the third level of the great, wooden ziggurant King-Regent Angifer was dressed much less modestly than his prime minister. The ‘cold’ bit into his cursed flesh and sent a shiver up his spine, but with Tierrasha’s new focus on diplomacy he felt getting to see the Sharix outside of their heavy, fur clothes would be worth it. He had tried to encourage Princess Kaxerto to do the same — and to her credit she did try — but the ‘cold’ had gotten to her already. Good enough for me, he thought. She’s only in her forties, after all. Maybe too young to have been brought, but... Of all the their children Kaxerto was the most interested in other people, and the most tolerant of them.

Watching Xiuhtlatec Nezetkhamun, however, might stretch even her ability to tolerate others. Alternatively, it could result in an enduring fascination. King-Regent Angifer, on the other hand, followed his prime minister’s lead and went a little bug-eyed. Unfortunately for him he wasn’t protected from observation by thick layers of fur and leather. Quickly as he could he regained his composure, but the event shook him. Never before had the king felt smaller than he did at that point. That was the ruler of the Tzaltec Empire? He had heard about him, of course, but he hadn’t quite... well, he wasn’t quite sure what he had expected. Still, somewhere inside him, he compared Nezetkhamun’s size to the skeletal remains Shalisha faces. Dread and relief mixed together as he realized Nezetkhamun was smaller. Could he grow that big too, the king wondered, dreading the idea.

Queen Loris

Once word reached the Tzaltec pavilion that the new queen of Faedas wished to speak with the leader of the Empire, Nezetkhamun himself made his way to her pavilion. For he had promised her sister, his good daughter Kyria, that he would see to Loris' well-being, and the news of her appearance had disturbed him. As he approached the pavilion, he stepped inside without care for her guards, for who among them would dare arrest his passage?

King Konrad

The gift of Unbroken was no small thing, and the Tzalteca had been truly honored to have been granted such a weapon by their allies in Mularuhm. Though they'd had little contact in the years before the Sunset War, the dwarven empire's commitment during the war and their unique support in the face of the coming menace had earned them and their king a great deal of respect. It was only proper, then, that the Teotlkan seek out King Konrad to pay his respects and offer his thanks in person. Senusret traveled with Unbroken secured at his waist, trailed by a dozen Unmarked as he made his way through the streets of Earthhome to the manor where the dwarven lord had supposedly made his temporary court. The whispers that followed his passage seemed not to phase the Teotlkan, though few could expect him to countenance the opinions of Huroshan peasants.

Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha

At the request of the new Sharixian Prime Minister, Tlapepentli Khensa made her way to the Sharix pavilion to discuss the internal affairs of the Empire. Though her personal feelings for republicanism were best described as disgust, Khensa knew there was ample time to reform the Empire's southernmost province away from its wayward governance. And meetings such as this were a vital first step.

Tlapepentli Khensa

The pavilion had been done in Tzalteca red and Sharix black with Sunburst of Sharix reliefs here and there. At the approach of Tlapepentli Khensa, the guards either side of the entrance made no move to halt her ingress. The pavilion interior consisted of a single, large room dominated in the center by a roaring (http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/fireNoiseGenerator.php?c=0&l=94859299890047311400) bonfire (http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/fireNoiseGenerator.php?c=0&l=94859299890047311400) and covered on the inside by furs. Around it, numerous smaller conflagrations crackled, adding yet more heat. The heat was oppressive by human standards, but the Sharix found the dry warmth comfortable. Members of the Sharix delegation sat clustered around the various fires, unburdened by the fur and woolen wrappings that they ordinarily wear. Others grouped together, talking furtively amongst themselves. Yet others were quite busy moving around the pavilion, clearly servants. The Prime Minister, a tall, hawkish woman, sat next to the central bonfire on a pile of furs, her light grey legs pulled up beneath her. She wore a simple but finely tailored blue violet tunic dress banded at the hem, cuff, and neckline by violet. Cinching the dress around her waist was a simple white rope-belt, and in her hands she held a small obsidian cup. Smiling, she beckoned the tlapepentli to sit next to her.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Tlapepentli Khensa," she said, speaking the 'trade tongue', overemphasizing her Ss and rolling her Rs. She gestured, and a Sharixian server came over. "Would you like something to eat or drink?" The Prime Minister asked for another cup of Sharixian 'tea' (boiled water with lashings of honey and lemon), and then focused her attention on the potential heir. "How do you like our pavilion? It's quite expensive to maintain with wood fires like this, but the more permanent heating solutions we have at home aren't quick or easy to build. Or to dismantle, after we leave. It was, sadly, either this or endure the climate here as best we could. It seems compromise is becoming the watchword of my government." She laughed, lightly, as if what she had said were a joke and not at all potentially dire. The laugh died quickly and ended on a bitter note.

The guards, well ranked members who had served under Queen Kyria recognized Nezetkhamun upon his approach and nodded in recognition as he entered the pavilion. Perhaps they might have stopped him if Loris had not sent for the Tzaltec, but then again, perhaps not. It was no secret in the Court that many remained loyal to the now sleeping Kyria even while the crown rested upon her sister's brow. Within the pavilion a few unnoteworthy nobles and retainers moved about. Nezetkhamun might notice the lack of servants present. Kyria had well known for traveling often with werekin and bucka servants of the palace many of whom were enthralled to her will, their lack of presence was somewhat unnerving as it made the whole of the pavilion feel empty and hollow.

In the center a tent had been erected bearing the flags and tabards of Faedas, the Holds, and Sanctuary as well as the personal arms of the House Varinel. Sir Edmins Loistavaseppä, Faedas' duelist, stood outside and upon spotting the Xiuhtlatec ducked inside the royal tent, no doubt informing the Queen of his arrival. Sir Edmins reappeared and bowed his head respectfully in silence as Nezetkhamun drew near, pulling open the tent flap to allow him entrance.

Inside the tent a makeshift throne had been assembled and it dominated the room. Candles and incense burned in venerable layouts around the room. A book, The Call of the Mother, lay open in front of a statue of the goddess Kina behind the throne's presence. The Queen herself sat in the throne and her pale red eyes fell upon the dragon father as he entered.

"Xiuhtlatec," she said, pausing for a moment as if assessing him, "I see the Tzaltec Empire considers my request for an audience either very important or very threatening."

The Queen's voice was stronger than her frail frame would give expectation of, lit with the vigor and passion of a belief that carried more weight than the health of the physical realm.

"It is good that you and not your son is here, though I have matters pertaining to his progeny they may well be passed through you. I have read what my sister left for me explaining the alliance and joining of Faedas to the Concordat and I have witnessed the crossing of our people in the girl Meztli. I wish to inform you that Faedas shall remain bonded by its word on the paper of the Concordat Treaty but it shall no longer be the policy of Faedas to entertain suitors from your Empire or further bind houses. It is also my personal desire to inform you as a Child of Kina your practices of enslavement are condemned by my faith and condemned in turn by me and all who wish to follow the Call in truth of spirit. I would also request you speak with your grandson about his visits to my realm that they may be ceased and the ill relations between himself and Meztli halted before they bear some unfortunate sickened fruit due only of disposal."

"MARCHING ORDERS EXCLUSIVE!!" Yelled various newspaper vendors scattered around the games. "The Doctrine of Frost's split is being mended through incompetence, bribery and ALIENS aligned with the Dragon Cult! Is your home about to be struck by Kina's lightning? Where IS Waldo?! The exact year when Tzultetep will awaken and begin tap-dancing across the Carmine Isles! Only the truest lies and most baseless slander from Marching Orders!"

Ah, joy. Someone gave a booth to these morons again.

MARCHING ORDERS
-=Lies and slander=-

Exclusive! High Priestess Marvella of Sycia to step down!

In a stunning turn of events, the Iero Dominion and the Glazfell Hegemony have held a truce, and a ceasefire in the Doctrine Civil War has been agreed to. According to initial terms, High Priestess Marvella of Sycia (voted 'Most Likely to become a Dragon' last year - yeah, we thought it'd be a Tzaltec too) and Doped up Priestess Vurima of the Holly States of our Frozen Panties (Voted most likely to die by ice magic last year) both stepped down from their positions rather than continue the war!

We're shocked too, dear reader! We wanted to report on blood golems rising from the snow, but no, we gotta talk about peace. Yuk.

The meeting also determined a new rite of succession for the Doctrine's high priestess: a candidate will be selected from the Holly States and Sycia, and the two will have a Goof-off (or possibly some sort of breath-holding contest - see page 18 for further speculation) to determine who will be the next High Priestess! In addition, the two nations have been split off from their lieges and made into their own independent nation! How that will work with the distance is unclear, but more fascinating is the fact that this truce happened at all, despite Sycia and the western Doctrine's clear military advantage!

Could this be political pressure from elements within the Tzaltec Empire's secret alien allies?! (see page 21 for totally not made up proof of the Tzalteclan's ties to dragon aliens from beyond the giant burning fart clouds that are the stars!) Perhaps even the Salterri's secret vault of secret mind control secrets?! (How ELSE do you propose their women and men are so attractive to so many royal families?!) We believe so, dear readers. We're not going to tell you what to believe, but you should probably believe us!

It's rumored that this news has not even reached Head Priestess of Foreign Affairs Edea at time of writing, despite her status as Sycia's diplomat. CLEARLY this means Edea has a secret lover amongst the Children of Kina and has nothing to do with the fact that Marching Orders is closer to the Holly States than the current Tellurian Games location! In fact that's not even true!!

Is it?

Where are these being hosted again? ... WHy are you writing this part down you idiot, stop wri
*there is a ink blot on the page that looks suspiciously like a bloodstain*

[Praeclarus]

Head Priestess Edea approached the Praeclarus delegation, giving a respectful bow where appropriate. "I am told you wish to speak with me?"

The Dwarves of Mularuhm noted the approaching Teotlkan with respectful nods of their heads, continuing with their exercises and practices for the Games. A decent hole with an angled descent had been dug into the ground in the short time the Dwarves had been there and guards stood beside its entrance bedecked with the flags and ornamentation of the royal quarters. The pile of misplaced dirt sat off to the side ready to be returned upon the Kingdom's departure. The Teotlkan was hailed by the guards and permitted entrance.

The ceiling of the hole was low enough to touch Senusret's head as he entered but as he did he saw it was not just a hole but a well dug, lit, and furnished underground room equal to the most prestigious royal traveling tent. The King, Queen, young Prince, and Reichtin were all inside sitting in chairs around a central table, and they smiled as the Tzaltec emperor entered.

"Welcome friend in the east, please, come and take a seat," the King gestured to a finely carved but surprisingly delicate looking wooden chair across from the royals and to the left of the Reichtin's own chair.

"We're sorry we couldn't make the delivery of Unbroken in person here at the Games but it was decided with the threat of the Kazul it best it be received by your Empire immediately and without delay. The news you brought of this threat weighs heavy on my and the King's mind. Our most ancient texts speak of a black evil to arise from the pits beyond world's edge and your warning has sunk itself in our hearts and minds as a portent of that doom," the elder Reichtin spoke his voice heavy with age.

Queen Loris

Nezetkhamun remained calm as Queen Loris addressed him, but in his mind an entirely different scene was playing out. It would be so easy. Simply cross the room and snap this impudent girl's neck like kindling. True, there would be some fallout. Perhaps even a flight elsewhere before the Huroshans got wind of what had happened. But Meztli's hands still guided the kingdom, and she was more than capable of calming the storm Loris' death would cause. But he had given his word to Kyria, the Queen he saw as an adopted daughter, the Queen so different from this one who sat before him. And so his smile did not waver, though his soul quaked with a terrible rage.

"Of course your request is important to me, Queen Loris, and to the Teotlkan as well. Are we not allies, bound by blood and oath?"

He smiled wider, and nodded as Loris continued.

"Such is your prerogative, Queen Loris. I had hoped Kyria's writings would hold more weight than the strictures of distant Tar, but we all must follow the dictates of the spirit. And you need not worry for my grandchildren - Aahotepre will not intrude on your domain again."

He paused, examining the stark and spartan room as well as the Queen's wasted form.

"But even as I tend to our alliance, I cannot help but fear for you, Queen Loris. Dear Kyria asked me to ensure your health and happiness once you arose, yet you seem to be wasting away. Is there some malady that afflicts you? Some ailment that I might alleviate with...Blood?"

King Konrad

Senusret's Unmarked took up positions alongside the dwarven guards as he entered the presence of Konrad Ringmaker. Their tension was palpable, this deep in the heart of the enemy, but their master commanded they wait. As Senusret entered, he gave a warm smile and a courteous bow to the king he had not yet met in person, before taking a seat and laying Unbroken across his knees. Yet as the Reichtin spoke of the Kazul, his countenance darkened.

"The Tzalteca have no such legends, much to our chagrin, but we believe the testimony of Stormskull of Lanteroc and the Red Pharaoh of Kemuliaan completely. In fact, it would seem we have the Saroc to thank for allowing us this time to prepare. Unbroken is a mighty tool..."

At this, the Teotlkan ran his scaled hand along the black leather of the sword's sheath.

"...but I fear it is but the first of the miracles we must conjure to conquer the coming storm."

He lapsed into silence for a moment, before coming back to himself with a rueful laugh.

"But we have time yet, and the Games are not conducive to gloom. Tell me, how fares your kingdom in the wake of the War? I must admit, the glory of victory arrived at my throne with a host of new challenges."

Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha

Khensa accepted the tea with a smile, never taking her golden eyes from the Prime Minister. That the Sharix government was inches removed from heresy was an issue that weighed heavily on her, yet in this woman she hoped to find an ally when she ascended to the throne of the Teotlkan. If she ascended the throne.

She shook the doubt away with a flick of her neck, sending ripples through the waterfall of raven hair that fell from her purple-black brows. As the Prime Minister began to laugh, she stretched languorously in the heat, the sheer vestments of Tzalteclan revealing a great deal.

"What some would call compromise, others would call leadership, Alixvara. I have every confidence your will maintain a righteous course, as does the Teotlkan."

She paused, finally taking her eyes from the elven woman and gazing about the pavilion.

"It is an impressive feat, to replicate the heart of a volcano in a city square. Though I do wish you had come to us with your problem - a decanter of Livefire would have served near as well and at a fraction of the cost."

She leaned forward to sip on her tea, before turning back to the Prime Minister and baring her pearlescent teeth.

"Delicious. But I understand you have something you wish to discuss?"

Tlapepentli Khensa

The Prime Minister listened, smiling, and all the while evaluating the tlapepentli. Never once did she relax as the tlapepentli did.

"I do have of some importance to discuss." Quietly she set aside the volcanic glass cup. "I've been trying to improve the reputation of your empire with the general public. As you can imagine, the passing of a few years has done little by itself to make my people better disposed to yours. The Games, however, and the further two stretches of the Red Canal yet to be built will help. What will help even more, of course, is a political marriage between a member of your royal family and the heir apparent, Princess Tharla. He would need to be somebody of a particular character and temperament, given the purpose of the marriage, and the situation."

The Empire of Dawn arrived as one whole unit for the first time in decades. The Tuvaak were absent, but North and South Lyradis, Guilder, and Caramel were all present. Tzalteclan's leader in dragon form had been overused, and with the other dragons now tamed and ridden in the Salterri Imperium, it was becoming less and less of an impressive sight. The Empire of Dawn, instead of relying on terror or large vehicle, came in a column. But this wasn't just any column.

In the column were the leaders of the nations and their guard, along with the most elite of trainers. They entourage rode an assortment of Mammoths, Horses, Elephants, Goats, and Rhinos, along with other rare creatures that were usually wild and dangerous. Some were fierce, others strange, others still beautiful, and some a combination of all three. Some people whispered that there we more animals in the column than had been seen in any zoo in the world, all united under one banner - The Rising Sun of the Empire of Dawn.

Following the column in swoops and dives, Griffons, Berundas, and Huge Insects flew in patterns and formations, ridden by trained aerial units and trainers.

Emperor Ridion Serendel of Selyra, male, single.
Mer Serendel, of Borlmyn, male, single.
Prim Serendel, of Borlmyn, female, engaged.

@Praeclarus

Ridion desired to speak with the Chief Orator T'chep. He approaches him and greets him kindly, thoughts of trade fresh on his mind. "Lord B'tman, I am Ridion Serendel of the Dawn Empire. If you have the time between the Games, would you be interested in setting up some further trades between our Kingdoms?"

The Kingdom of the Carmine Sea receives a short, hand-written missive, stating:

We thank you for your continued efforts.

- Ellyn, Lady Jarrow

Sharix

A man and woman made their way to the Sharixian pavilion, both dressed in fine silks: he in a muted crimson and gold, complementing his dark, golden-tinged skin; she in a dark blue dress which displayed about as much flesh as local mores would allow. Each of them had an elven appearance, though softened and rounded by apparent human influence, though both had a slightly haughty bearing.

The wave of heat rolling off the entrance momentarily stopped them, with the woman turning to her companion and muttering.

"This is going to be oppressively hot, isn't it? I'll barely be able to think."

"That's why my father's not here. Apparently the Sharix prefer to make their guests uncomfortable rather than dwell in discomfort themselves. Should we host them at any stage, I have suggested Lamadyr in midwinter."

"I'm beginning to regret dressing so modestly." He glanced at her in surprise, and she winked.

For all the time he had spent around her, Alfdynn still did not know quite what to make of Ellyn, and in truth found her slightly intimidating, though that might have been in part because she was undeniably beautiful. Some still called her the fairest in the kingdom, especially after Adylla's passing, but not too loudly, for none wanted to start up that brouhaha again. She was rather older than him, though she did not look it, and by the time he was grown enough to understand court, she had already built up a reputation, both as a lady and athlete - only the second dragonrider in the kingdom after his father and placing in the caragita of 502 - and as a lover, for the nickname of Princess Whore was widespread before he even understood its meaning.

Still she remained an enigma. Her father was one of the most notorious rebels in Jarrland history, still in disgrace, and his party had originally coalesced around her, but she had not joined his side for the war or the self-imposed exile that preceded it. She had taken the insults on the chin, indeed adopted them as a badge of pride, her party now even referring to themselves by the moniker Adylla's men had coined to mock her alleged promiscuity. Yet still she flaunted the colours of opposition. Her joke about modesty - for indeed her dress would be considered to flirt with, though not commit to, indecency - was one he would never have dared make himself, since for all the stories, none were confirmed and all concerned "a friend of a friend"; in terms of her observed, rather than rumoured, behaviour, none could doubt her moral standing. The king clearly trusted her with this diplomatic initiative, and he could not help but feel she was there at least in part to hold his hand.

In many ways, she was everything his wife was not. Seirwynn was attractive, pleasant, and, critically, fertile, but also quiet, dutiful and unadventurous. There would be no dragon-flights for her, perhaps not even when Kuldrahan grew big enough. She would never have dared to compete in an athletics event, and if her reputation was blackened she would be mortified, rather than slinging mud back. But he had never had a choice in the matter and nor had she... and any thoughts he had concerning Ellyn would best be kept private. Her husband and in-laws - and it was said that Dagr had been in love with her for years before they married - were the most dangerous men in Jarrland save his own father, and while the loyalty of the Scowens was unquestioned he would not like to test it against Dagr's loyalty to his wife.

He smiled and gave a slight chuckle at his cousin's remark, and addressed the pavilion guards.

"Pray tell your masters that Alfdynn atheling of the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea, and Princess Ellyn, Lady Jarrow, are here to treat with them as previously discussed."

"Mmm," Loris mused, her tone almost bored, "Your concern is wholly unnecessary I assure you. The Mother sustains me, not the blood of your dragon. I am thankful for your cooperation in these matters Xiuhtlatec, you may part at your leisure."

Sir Edmins Loistavaseppä was standing outside when Nezetkhamun exited the tent.

"Your Holy Majesty," he began, bowing as he sought to match pace with the Eastern Dragon, "I wish to inform you of a message from the Faedic Order and your granddaughter, she sends her regards and apologies that she could not be present but the Queen insisted she attend personally. Know that our Order and the Regent are working ever so intensely to maintain balance since Queen Lorisanth's reawakening. We, as yourself, have orders from the Queen Kyria, or, I should not say that you have orders of course, but our goals, they are one in the same and with the same strictures upon them. We apologize for anything that might have occurred within and assure you we are working to rectify things. I'm terribly sorry Your Holy Majesty."

Madame Alicia Loistavaseppä watched the arrival of the Dawn delegation with a smile. The variety of animals and the performers of Caramel and bright banners made it almost like a circus. She wondered if that had been the intent and worried that it might not have been tried to hide her smile. As the delegation began to settle she made her way closer in light skipping steps.

"That's quite a stable you must have!" she said to no one in particular but hopping to spark a conversation with those around her.

Quite a menagerie, if you count the ones that cannot be ridden." She makes a polite curtsey, and introduces herself. "Enrica Alfeo, one of the Doge's party. Pleased to attend the games in person... "The war took its toll on our armies and we are still rebuilding but our Kingdom stands as strong as ever in peace," the King answered, "the Kingdom of Mularuhm prides itself as the center of much economic and cultural knowledge and welfare. We are also the largest and most devoted protector of denizens of the underrealm and those of Dwarven blood. The entirety of the undersouth being our domain even the land of Triumph held by Serendel recognizes our preeminence in the underrealm and we are currently engaged to discuss matters of recognition in Keldagrim of Mularuhm's protection over those Dwarven cousins. In fact, this was a matter we also wished to discuss with yourself and, with your approval, your vassal the Sharix Republic."

"The Old Texts speak of the blackness beyond the edge that not even Dwarven eye may penetrate and the doom foretold to come from it," the Reichtin repeated, "It would be our sworn duty by the Silver Lady to stand against that tide when it comes, but our first priority stands with those sworn to the Mularuhm crown."

"My father in law means we wished to discuss a potential recognition, in ceremony, of the crown of Mularuhm's natural extension to the Dwarves of Triwilix. It is known the Sharix Republic stands with a ceremonial crown in Valasharix, it would be our intention to have that ceremonial crown be the crown of Mularuhm in Triwilix, to restore to them a Dwarven king of worth. This recognition would extend to them the protection of the King and the realm and make far easier the marching of our troops east when the Kazul come."

"Of course, such matters we wished first to discuss with yourself to make clear our intentions were neither hostile nor servile in nature, but simply a desire to extend our natural inclination of protection for our cousins into something more substantial and to further strengthen those bonds forged between undersouth and east in the fires of the Sunset." Queen Elizabet spoke up.

Head Priestess Edea approached the Praeclarus delegation, giving a respectful bow where appropriate. "I am told you wish to speak with me?"

"Ah, yes!" Chief Orator T'chep looked up from another missive he was writing, and grinned a Makgrull smile at the High Priestess. "Mostly, I wanted to pump you for gossip on Praemonstrator T'lly. From everything I know, it's going well over there. Please tell me she's decided to stay, and won't be coming back to be a thorn in my side once more?"

T'chep laughed playfully to show that he was joking. Mostly. "Also... I was wondering about the T'lly-Edea Accord, with the news of what has been occurring among your order. I would not presume to even hint at someone that we trade with lacking to honor such deals as we've made, but other Makgrull are not as trusting as I. At some point during the games, Eli Grant, Standish Grant-Tremblor and Lilum Cedras were granted an audience with Queen Loris. After all teh diplomatic pleasantries, Eli got to the main topic- the Maya Khaditna, also known as the Black Stone of Maos.

"The Skipper-General wanted to get your opinion on his discussions with Guilder." He went on to explain the details:

1) The shrine is built jointly (1 faith action each)
2) The Children of Kina be allowed d conversion access to all regions of the Guilderene expanse. The Children will not pursue past a minority religion in all Guilder lands.
3) No harm come to the Maya Khaditna- no cutting or shaving off pieces, and so on. Non destructive testing is acceptable.
4) Any practical technical applications derived from it must receive final blessing from the Eldest Child of Kina before being put into use.
5) Any practical technical applications will be shared equally, and not traded nor gifted to any other nations for a period of fifty years.

"The Children maintain control of the stone" He said
"But it is in Maos, not Tar." Lilum Cedras added. The Quill scholar was well respected amongst the Children theologians.
"Which has been granted the ability to proselytize across the enitre Guilderene Expanse." He continued, ignoring the comment.
"Only to minorities. A majority there is blocked." Lilum Cedras added. The Quill scholar was well respected amongst the Children theologians.
Eli smirked, "No. They wont resist through their government. A majority could grow there sponatneously, then they might do something. It is still a huge win for your religion." The fact that Eli and his sister Elizabeth were non-committal to the Children well known.

Kingdom of the Carmine Sea

The guard on the left made a motion with his head that had to be a nod and then passed through the entrance and into the interior. Barely a moment had passed before the guard emerged again and took back up his place. "Foreign Minister Ravuia Andique will be with you shortly," came the masculine voice from beneath the furs — his proficiency in the trade tongue was passable, but it was laden with a heavy Sharixian accent . "We apologize for the delay," he added, his posture stiffening.

After a few minutes of waiting, and one false-start when another (particularly tall) Sharixian exited the pavilion, the Foreign Minister appeared, decked out in white and black furs. "Greetings, I am Foreign Minister Andique," the woman said, giving a slight bow. "I apologize for the delay, but based on my knowledge of your people I had assumed you would find our pavilion too inhospitable." The woman had the same friendly tone as the Prime Minister (as she was clearly cut from the same political cloth), but her speech was more crisp and professional. Still, she overemphasized the trade tongue's Ss and rolled its Rs. "I have yet to see much of the grounds here, but perhaps the 'Halls of Rest' would be suitable for our discussion?" A second later, and accompanied by a visible wince from the Foreign Minister, another Sharixian burst through the entrance.

"<Your Royal Highness?>" Shock led the minister to speak Sharixian rather than the trade tongue — clearly related to elvish, but altered to such an extent that only one word in twenty was understandably elvish. Quickly, though, she recovered. "I had thought you left with Commander Andoria to watch the competitions just now..."

"I felt that it was more important that there be a royal presence, and since my father is occupied at present, the duty fell to me," the princess (presumably Princess Kaxerto) said in the trade tongue, straightening up. Unlike the minister the furs she wore were yellow rather than black and white.

"Of course," the minister replied, slipping back into the trade tongue. "I was just asking Alfdynn, atheling of the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea," and as she spoke she gestured to the relevant person. "And Princess Ellyn, Lady Jarrow," and one again, she gestured to the relevant party. "If they would be amenable to holding our exchange in the 'Halls of Rest'."

The princess nodded. "It would be a public venue, but we have no desire to hide our history," she said, nodding again.

So for them, I apologize but I am afraid I must ask... where do you see this, this... transition between leaders? Yes. That. Where do we stand once this has been settled?"

Edea sighed and rubbed her head with both hands. "Honestly, Chief Orator? I learned that Marvella is stepping down about 20 minutes ago - I really don't know what's going on back home right now. Fortunately, it's not set in stone as of yet - I'll have time to go back and work out the details of her succession and such."

"I wouldn't worry, though - Marvella knows what she's doing-" (I hope. She added to herself in a slight panic) "-And the Holy States went to war with us over our alliance with Tzalteclan, not any deal with you. We'll fulfill our obligations, of that I am certain."

She brightened up a bit. "On the plus side, T'lly has indeed been doing well. I was a little worried about providing proper accommodations, but she seems to have settled in nicely. We're also doing some research into various applications for the bubbling stones. Initial research is promising, if a bit slow."

Queen Loris

Nezetkhamun maintained his thin smile as the vampiric monarch heaped ever greater insult upon him. Bowing slightly to her, he made to leave.

"It was my pleasure, Queen Loris. Please, do not hesitate to call on me again should you require anything further."

Outside, Nezetkhamun strode from the pavilion as quickly as was dignified. When the Faedic knight approached him, he almost lashed out to end the poor fool, so diminished was his patience. But mention of his granddaughter and precious Kyria's faithful caused him to slow and give Sir Edmins his attention.

"You apology is accepted, sir knight. Kyria warned me of her sister's temperament, though I could not have conceived the extent of their difference. It seems the blood of Earthguard continues to undermine the cause of peace. But I am sure the situation will right itself in time. Give my regards to my granddaughter, sir knight."

They reached the edge of the pavilion, and Nezetkhamun finally turned to look fully upon the man beside him. As their eyes met, Edmins felt a tremor pass through him, as he saw for the first time the infernal fury restrained in those golden orbs. The Great Dragon gave him a curt nod and turned back towards the Tzaltec encampment, leaving the mad Queen and her collapsing kingdom behind.

King Konrad

Senusret reclined back as King Konrad extolled the power of Mularuhm. The Teotlkan could not deny the primacy of Mularuhm beneath the surface, nor ignore their mutual friendships in the South, and so he was pleased to hear of their prosperity. But then the conversation turned to the subject of distant Triwilix, and a flicker passed across his brow. A hunter might call it the passing gaze of a wolf, assessing a challenger for leadership of the pack. But it was a brief thing, and who could say it was not simply a trick of the light?

"I have already consulted with the Prime Minister, and neither her government nor I would object to Triwilix's recognition of Mularuhm's throne as the throne of all dwarves. So long as they recognize that their first duty remains to the throne of Holy Tzalteclan, our bonds are assured."

Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha

Khensa's smile quirked at the mention of "her" empire, narrowing ever so sharply as she replied.

"Our Empire, Alixvara. We both serve at the pleasure of the Teotlkan and the throne of Holy Tzalteclan. But I can understand your concerns; we are no strangers to reticent populations. I have a number of brothers who would jump at the chance to shape their own destiny, as Ahmes did decades ago."

She caught the look in the Prime Minister's eye, and laughed.

"Do not misunderstand me, Alixvara. He will not travel to Valasharix with conquest in his heart. But he will strive to his utmost to advance himself and his new family. And is that not for the best?"

Megadeth Khaboss Ahmes

After the representatives of the Tzaltec Empire had settled and her leaders had concluded their business with foreign powers, peace descended on the small village of their pavilions. In that peace few saw as the Teotlkan passed from his palatial tent to the tent of his son, that they might discuss an issue of some import to the Blood of the Dragon.

High King Elwyn Jarrow

As their father and sister attended to the affairs of state, Senseneb, Kiya, and Nebetah made their way into the festive sprawl that was the Games. Harkhuf and G'ninb, inseparable as they were, had already made their way to the dueling field to get some practice in, and the daughters of the Teotlkan had decided to seek out their sister and good-brother from Carmine. It had been an age since they had seen Isesu (Nebetah barely remembered her!) and the Games provided the perfect venue for a reunion.

The three princesses were dressed in gold, black, and red respectively, their gowns a walking scandal to the Huroshan eye. Baubles of gold, ruby, and amethyst dangled from hair, wrists, and cinched waists, and one might think it a miracle they had not been robbed until one saw the small army of Unmarked trailing their charges. Though the sisters' objective was the Carmine camp, they saw no reason to rush, and so led a serpentine path through street vendors, performers, and citizens of a dozen nations.

G'ninb

The dueling grounds, as expected, were perhaps the best appointed area at the Huroshan games, and Harkhuf and G'ninb managed to find ample space to spar. As he hefted the long, thin khopesh that had become a Tzaltec dueling standard since the blessing of Nezetkhamun, Harkhuf smiled lazily at his makgrull friend.

"So, Nib, how do you fancy our chances?"

Tlapepentli Khensa

One would be forgiven for thinking that the Prime Minister would react to the comparison — unintentional or not. However, the smile hadn't changed, and neither had the evaluating look. Indeed, the middle-aged woman's face remained as unmoving as a mountain's.

"Oh, of course! I would be amazed, and somewhat disappointed, if it were otherwise. If I could have a list of names, as well as your own personal feelings on each, I expect we could quickly come to a decision. After which, if we have time, I would pose you questions about, as you so rightly corrected, our empire. I am, quite clearly, unfamiliar."

G'ninb, second son of the Sanctus, did not grin. If he was bothered by how Harkhuf pronounced his name, it didn't show. He was very focused on the weapons in front of him, testing their weight and seeing how they felt in his hands. When he spoke, it was slowly, carefully, as though every word was an experiment. This was different from caution; a cautious person would be questioning everything they say, wondering if they were saying the right thing, and maybe not say it at all. G'ninb was beyond caution. He was testing everything, trying to see what would work, and what wouldn't, and delighting in the results, regardless of the outcome... and that was just in his speech alone. "I think... I think that I will enjoy myself, regardless of just how well I do."

"But..." Looking across the field, G'ninb finally grinned. Unlike Harkhuf, it wasn't a lazy grin. Lazy grins are things that happen slowly, without much thought... or with exactly the right amount of thought, depending on how truthful a person was or wasn't. G'ninb had found that Tzaltec were masters of the lazy grin. Until you knew them better, it was hard to tell if they were being honest with their faces or not. No, G'ninb did not have a lazy grin. His was a very purposeful smirk, brought out for special occasions. Like looking over the dueling grounds, and seeing his older brother, T'manc, preparing a dueling spear. "I think my brother will be in for a surprise."

Edea sighed and rubbed her head with both hands. "Honestly, Chief Orator? I learned that Marvella is stepping down about 20 minutes ago - I really don't know what's going on back home right now. "That is well and good to hear. I apologize if I brought up something unpleasant." T'manc smiles once again, and then tilts his head to one side, looking at Edea curiously. "I am unfamiliar with your doctrine, so please forgive me if what I ask next is insensitive, but... do you know whom they will consider for the position?"

"Would you, personally, be considered? I know T'lly raves about you, but sometimes it's hard to tell if she's just being herself, or actually being serious."

@Praeclarus
"I am Ridion Serendel of the Dawn Empire. If you have the time between the Games, would you be interested in setting up some further trades between our Kingdoms?"

T'chep smiles and bobs his head in greeting. "I would be happy to discuss trade between the Empire of Dawn and Praeclarus! What did you have in mind?"

Ahmes was pouring over a series of documents spread out in the table in his tent when his father entered and he looked up sharply at the intrusion but his countenance softened as he saw it was his father.

"Father, to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit?" Ahmes smiled but his gut twisted slightly in his stomach.

He had never been one of the Teotlkan's favorite children in his youth and while Senusret had expressed great pleasure in his accomplishments since being sent to the Saroc he still felt a sense of inadequacy and minor dread in talking with him. He preferred his time be spent in Ahmeskharras where he could focus on all that transpired there under his direction and autonomous domain. Certainly Stormskull and the Teotlkan stood above him but Stormskull rarely paid a visit and even when he did Ahmes found his blood brother a far easier man to address than his father. He also was concerned of what the subject of today's visit would be. He'd heard whispers in his time back home, the lack of a grandson to the Teotlkan by his line. In Ahmeskharras the matter was not questioned and his relationship with Zhezini Martis accepted but the Blood of the Dragon was an important thing to his family and something he was expected to pass on. An expectation he had put to be delayed further and further and now stood before him ready to erupt in it's entirety.

The Doge's assistant, one Enrica Alfeo, spoke up. "Oh, yes... and we left home half of it! If there is one the Empire of Dawn does well, it is its creatures... Quite a menagerie, if you count the ones that cannot be ridden." She makes a polite curtsey, and introduces herself. "Enrica Alfeo, one of the Doge's party. Pleased to attend the games in person... They come only a few times in one's life."

The elven woman laughed, "A pleasure Madame Alfeo," she answered, returning the curtsey, "Unless you're a menheiren I suspect!" she joked.

"Point 2, it is too weak. If we are to surrender the stone of the Mother to heathens we must be capable of pushing their faithfulness to a level that they will not pull free and change course in the midst of it as my readings since awakening have given me to understand is a common Guilderene practice. The Maya Khaditna must remain with the actual faithful, not those with a small cabal of the Mother's Children who they refuse to allow preaching," Loris's countenance was dark and her gaunt face only served to make it all the more haunting.

"Politically, I do not think I can push them further. At least officially." Eli admitted.

This time, Lilium came to his aide. "However, the Skipper General has been clear on his point of official missionary activity. The Wives of Black and other agents not paid for by the Seaborne Confederation have done much to promote the True Faith. If the Maya Khaditna draws them to Maos, that can only be nautral. And naturally, they will do good works there. If those works bring the entire Guilderene Expanse to the embrace of the Mother..."

"As long as it cannot be traced back to Confederation expenses, we would be blameless."

"Which is why the Confederation Congress authorized spending to create the Society of Big Brother’s and Sister’s. More true believers dedicated to helping others and spreading the Call of the Mother."

"And of course we cannot control the actions of other nation-states, who might have an interest. But too much too quickly will cause them to denounce the Children and limit their influence."

Eli smiled, and Lilum smiled with him.

She nodded. "Or a doge. They never seem to die, do they?" Enrica laughed before realizing that the joke was a tad off-color, and continued the conversation. "So, tell me, how is Faedas at present? We understand that there are the usual tensions?"

Meanwhile, Chief Orator T'chep was wandering around the UJR delegation's rooms, seeking an audience with the Legislator or another council member. He was very interested in their latest research, and hoping that Praeclarus could learn more about what they have been looking into with Lignum Aqua.

The Chief Orator is met by a man in his middle years, with no trace of silver or white in his hair - uncommon for one who has reached high rank in the UJR. And not just high, but of the very highest; clearly shown by the faintly glowing sigil on the back of his hand. If, of course, Praeclarus knows of such things.

Sharix
A middle-aged man, dressed in official armor and breast covered in metals, approaches the delegation. His face is hard set, determined, but not harsh, and with the known grizzle only an officer can carry. "I'm here to speak to the Princess Kaxerto, or any suitable representative--" But as he said this, the woman herself came into view, and he fell silent. She was no less than a jewel, a spire against the sky.

Logic and diplomacy left the Guilderene's mind.

Kingdom of the Carmine Sea and the Guilderene Expanse

The minister was a little taken aback by the sudden burst in popularity of their pavilion. "Well, this is quite a pleasant turnaround," she said.

"We were about to sit and discuss a matter with these representatives of the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea," added the princess herself.

"Yes, but if you'll give me a moment, I'm sure I can find another representative-"

"Oh, I'm sure Lady Jarrow wouldn't mind an extra guest for our talk," the princess said, interrupting.

"<Your Royal Highness,>" the minster said sharply, slipping into the Sharixian tongue. "<This representative from the Guilderene Expanse may wish to discuss matters that would not be fit for the ears of others.>"

The princess gave the minister a hurt look, but then turned to the representative in question. "What have you come to discuss?"

The King-Regent and the Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs

While their participation in the Tellurian Games was ostensibly the reason the Sharix had come, the real reason was mending fences and rebuilding bridges. As part of this, King-Regent Tharixeen Angifer and Elvinald Armon, his Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs, had been going to meet members of each delegation in turn. Eventually, it came time for the pair to meet the Makgrull of Praeclarus.

As part of this, King-Regent Tharixeen Angifer and Elvinald Armon, his Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs, had been going to meet members of each delegation in turn. Eventually, it came time for the pair to meet the Makgrull of Praeclarus.

Arriving at the rooms prepared for those of Praeclarus is like walking into a bath house. Most of the Makgrull and Malleus here are soaking in small pools of water that the Academy makes available for it's own underwater inhabitants. King-Regent Angifer and Secretary Armon are greeted cordially by an older looking Orator (who introduces himself as Senior Orator H'tman), and taken to a space in the back of the room where a table has been set aside for guests. There are refreshments and alcohol already on the table, though no one else besides H'tman seems to be near them. The Senior Orator looks apologetic, and is about to speak, when two younger Makgrull - a male and female - enter the room.

The Sharixian leaders hear strange clicks and squeaks, as the two newcomers talk with H'tman, who bows very low to the King-Regent before departing. The younger Makgrull approaches, and he has all white skin and deep green eyes. "Ahoy, King-Regent of the Sharixians. I, T'manc, First Son of the Sanctus, see you."

The female that walked in with T'manc seems to stand apart from the other Makgrull. She is certainly being treated well, judging from how every Makgrull nearby is doing their best to be kind and courteous. She is offered a seat first, and all her needs are seen to quickly. Though difficult to say for sure for those untrained in telling such things, she is a young adult - close to twenty years old - and quite pretty, for a Makgrull. T'manc introduces her. "This is Magreen, the daughter of Duc Fozik, our newest alley within the arms of Mother Sea. She is here to observe. My apologies if she speaks little; I'm doing what I can to teach her the surface tongue. I am pleased to say I have found she is a quick study."

I apologize that my father and Chief Orator T'chep are not here at the moment, but I hope I might humbly be of service. To what do we owe the honor of your visit?"

"Heh. With a sapphire set in the top." Edea grinned, rubbing her chin. "With some nice swirling patterns, maybe a bit of ash in the wood- no, no, that'd be ruined as soon as you took it underwater... "I'm afraid the MoM is still working on getting the press itself to function underwater," Asur shrugged apologetically. "However books, leaflets, whatever you might desire to be printed and take with you back to Praeclarus, all is now possible." He nodded towards one of the rooms. "We have one of the prototypes through here, would you like to see it? Perhaps your mind might see a solution where ours have yet to find one." "I'm afraid the MoM is still working on getting the press itself to function underwater," Asur shrugged apologetically. "However books, leaflets, whatever you might desire to be printed and take with you back to Praeclarus, all is now possible." He nodded towards one of the rooms. "We have one of the prototypes through here, would you like to see it? Perhaps your mind might see a solution where ours have yet to find one." It's a joke, but not as much of one as might be expected. The UJR had come to greatly respect the ingenuity of their friends beneath the waves.

"I would be honored to take a look, yes! And yes, perhaps if no ideas present itself, there are many chambers left over from the Conference of the Changing Tides that still have air in them... If the Printing Press itself does not function, but the results do, that in itself is wonderful!" T'chep grins, and begins to pull on his nose in thought. Those used to dealing with the Makgrull now would recognize this as the same action as one rubbing their chin. "Please, lead on."

"I'm hoping to keep doin' this till I drop dead. If I ever retire though, I think I'll try for Felitora's coast."

"Heh. With a sapphire set in the top." Edea grinned, rubbing her chin. "With some nice swirling patterns, maybe a bit of ash in the wood- no, no, that'd be ruined as soon as you took it underwater... Well whatever you do, you'll need a metal tip on the bottom. It'll last longer and works well as a secondary head-whacker."

"Actually, I'm rather excited about the prospect of a staff made from Mithril Willow. I just had a conversation earlier this week with those from the Kingdom of the Isles, and to my surprise, they have lumber that has bits of mithril in it. Should make for some interesting accouterments! But yes... a staff from a springy, yet hard lumber, tipped with a bit of gold, I think. I'll have to call in a favor or two from a Niskan craftsman... or make some friends with those of Mularuhm. Quite interesting swords they made." T'chep privately wondered if it was too late in the week to ask to see the dwarves. It would take some clever hands to craft what he had in mind.

"Hmm, I see," the Queen said with an almost imperceptible nod, "Then with that understanding between us I take no issue with the proposal."

Faedas
She nodded. "Or a doge. They never seem to die, do they?" Enrica laughed before realizing that the joke was a tad off-color, and continued the conversation. "So, tell me, how is Faedas at present? We understand that there are the usual tensions?"

The fae woman laughed along with Enrica and shared a conspiratorial half smile after the woman's realization of the dark subject matter, "Usual tensions? I couldn't say I possibly know what you are talking about," the woman smiled again a twinkle in her eye, "Our new Queen seeks to take our lands more fully and truthfully to follow the Call of the Mother, some disagree with that idea, some embrace it, and most keep trying to do what they always have done which is struggle for power and take it away from those who have it."

The King-Regent and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs

The King-Regent, and his Secretary of State, were both dressed similarly to the other Sharix in their delegation — the Secretary of State, however, also carried a large bag. However, they both chose to pull down the hood and scarf that covered their head and face.

"We hope to improve our nation's relationship with yours," said the King-Regent. "I am King-Regent Tharixeen Angifer, and this is my Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ravuia Andique."

At that the Secretary of State, a young man, bowed his head. "It is a pleasure."

"We come bearing a goodwill offering of cultural exchange." The King-Regent gestured to his Secretary of State who quickly produced a book from the bag he carried. The book, which appeared to be very new, bore a title in the trade tongue: A Collection of Lesser Stories, Vol. I. "Our people's history has been, until recently, almost entirely oral. Only the most important were ever written down, carved into rock, and accompanied by brilliant murals. Please, accept this token, and maybe our two people's and nation's can grow in understanding of each other."

"Of course," the King nodded, "We do not desire administration or the rights of a provincial director, simply ceremonial recognition and the bonding of the clans from all across Telluris. If you have chance to see the Sharix please let them know we would like to speak with them personally to confirm the matter as well as begin shipments of Mole Owls to Triwilix that they might have a good source of meat to fulfill their desires as we understand them to be."

"Was there anything else you wished to discuss Holy Teotlkan?" the elder Reichtin asked, his voice warm with friendship.

Dark: Don't forget to action the gift/trade of techs.

Blue Guard: If you want to roleplay meeting with the Mularuhm reps I'm down for that but if we run out of time if you could just add the Sharix recognizing Mularuhm as King of the Dwarves in Triwilix that'd be appreciated. I added an action to gift a stack of mole owls to Triwilix as well as I mentioned IC above.

The King-Regent and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs

Visiting the Mularuhm delegation, the King-Regent and his Secretary of State, were quite cautious. The Great Sharixian Republic had conquered a dwarven people — even if that had been two governments ago, it still hung around the present government's neck. Just as with each delegation before and after, though, the pair made their greeting and offered them a copy of A Collection of Lesser Stories, Vol. I — a book which contains stories from the Sharix's oral history not considered important enough to inscribe on stone and accompany with murals.

It'd be purely a ceremonial kingship over them, of course. No actual powers.

Does this suit you:

The Great Sharixian Republic and the Kingdom of Mularuhm agree to the following:
— The Great Sharixian Republic, on behalf of the dwarves of the Three Cities, recognizes the ceremonial kingship of the Mularuhm crown over them.
— The Kingdom of Mularuhm gifts Triwilix one stack of Mole Owls.

If so, I'll edit it right into my Sub-Actions.

Kingdom of the Carmine Sea

"Of course," the minister replied, slipping back into the trade tongue. "I was just asking Alfdynn, atheling of the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea," and as she spoke she gestured to the relevant person. "And Princess Ellyn, Lady Jarrow," and one again, she gestured to the relevant party. "If they would be amenable to holding our exchange in the 'Halls of Rest'."

The princess nodded. "It would be a public venue, but we have no desire to hide our history," she said, nodding again.

"I'm sure the Halls of Rest would be quite adequate, provided they are not too crowded," Alfdynn said. "There are public venues and public venues, after all, and simply because one has nothing to hide does not necessarily mean one wishes it widely known."

Kingdom of the Carmine Sea and the Guilderene Expanse

"Oh, I'm sure Lady Jarrow wouldn't mind an extra guest for our talk," the princess said, interrupting.

"<Your Royal Highness,>" the minster said sharply, slipping into the Sharixian tongue. "<This representative from the Guilderene Expanse may wish to discuss matters that would not be fit for the ears of others.>"

The princess gave the minister a hurt look, but then turned to the representative in question. "What have you come to discuss?"

Perhaps it was that the Sharix deferral to Ellyn had pricked his pride, or simply the assumption that the Kingdom would not object to its most infamous enemies of recent years joining the discussion while giving the impression that Guilder's business took precedence, but in any case it was Alfdynn who spoke up, and quickly.

"I would have no objection to an extra guest for our discussion, but it might well affect the nature and depth of that discussion, depending on who that guest might be," he said, somewhat coolly. "I have no wish to read a bastardised version of my people's history in some printed rag in a few years' time, nor to have my words repeated out of context up and down the ports of the Golden Sun Sea thanks to indiscretion."

The king and queen received their relatives in their pavilion, a less grand setting than in the great hall at Horbeach, but no less lavish for that, for the interior was by now decorated with tapestries and hangings, and filled with furniture appropriate for their royal persons. Although no king of Jarrland was ever left in the dark save that he wished to be, there was even a chandelier, its light provided not by candles but by vallotake, though the effect was much the same. Amidst it Elwyn and Isesu lounged on couches, together with a boy of around eleven who scrambled to his feet when the guests entered: the elder of their twin sons, Eldys.

"Sisters!" Elwyn called as they entered. "So good to see you, please join us."

Kingdom of the Carmine Sea and the Guilderene Expanse (But Not For Long)

The minister, who had been catching up on foreign international relationships for the past two years, hadn't realized how much the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea disliked the Guilderene Expanse. Luckily, the cold response from Alfdynn managed to jog her memory.

"Well," she began. "We will have to reschedule. If you wait here our security will have my assistant out here to determine when would be best."

The princess, on the other hand, wasn't quite as well informed. Still, the cold attitude, and lack of response from Lady Jarrow to that attitude, meant the young princess kept quiet.

Feel free to move the thing to the Halls of Rest from here.

The members of the Imperial House of Li and their entourage, as well as the many athletes who had come along with the delegation of the Salterri Heartlands, were settled in nicely well before the start of the Games. Every other night was a feast, while every day was spent training and rehearsing, keeping fresh and getting ready. There were a few oddities, however. The Salterri had no representative athletes ready to compete in the duel tournament, and the artists--who had told they would arrive later--still weren't there on the day before the Games, when the revelry began.

Ensio, the third of the Li brothers behind Aarne and Qzare Shiren--whom he still called Teutus, had been one of the members of the House to consider entry into the duel tournament, but he had declined. "One oughtn't mar the face of one so beautiful, after all," he remarked privately to Zuei Piandao, whom he had invited to his tent to drink with him. Piandao nodded hesitantly, not too sure about agreeing with that statement, but certainly not intending to submit the opposite line of thinking and insult the high-ranking noble.

The prince looked around the tent, appearing bored. "Maya!" He called out, repeating the name again when no reply came at first. A young woman came into the tent, her skin darker than her father's, but her pale blue eyes, soft glow and pointed ears giving away her heritage. "Yes, father?" She waited. "Bring in those Kuei boys. I'd like to play a game of dún-zhai. We need two more players."

The icy blue eyes of the Imperial Prince stared over his glass of wine at the younger man, one of the few Zuei noblemen remaining. Their station had decreased significantly, but their House was still officially one of the Great ones. "If only... if only you were a count, my good Piandao, you would be a fit husband for one of my daughters." The shark-like grin that briefly flashed across his face made Piandao shiver, and he was starting to reconsider taking him up on the offer to share one of Ensio's good vintages that he had been so eagerly speaking of earlier. He began to rise from his seat. "Speaking of counting, I think I--" "You aren't thinking of leaving, are you, my good Piandao?" Ensio tutted. "We are going to play a game, it would be most impolite for you to leave at this juncture."

There was no option to choose but to remain. Two young noblemen, sons of the house of Kuei, came in shortly thereafter with a playing board that they set up on the table, and they took seats alongside Ensio and Piandao, who sat opposite from one another. They put the small silver pillar in the middle of the board and begun, taking turns laying down the red and white shells. Many rounds passed and as many drinks, but Ensio made sure to drink very selectively.

The next morning, Piandao discovered, to his surprise, that he had been signed up for the duel tournament. Luckily, he wasn't hungover, but only because he was still drunk from the night before.

Cao Fan and Yang Haojin arrived in the nick of time for the Arts Contest and were the last to unveil their craft: a large quartz statue that showed a large egg, a cracked egg with a small dragon crawling out, a slightly larger dragon, and finally a dragon the size of a horse spreading its wings. The various parts were arranged in a circle, each one higher up, with the whole structure made out of quartz and filled with everlava to grant it an inner, fiery glow.
