I was thinking about going for the Abjuration School. The way I see it is I should have the same hp as a barbarian. my con is 18 so +4 hp for every level, which means taking level 8 as an example. 6 1st lv + (3.5 x 7)Avg + 32Con + (5 + 16)temp hp = 83.5 hp at level 8 and if I take the feat that lets you get 2hp x lv that would put me to 100ish. Mage armor and dex would give me a modest 15AC.

That's just my first thought. Some of the things I was thinking about that build is that if I am so attached to hit point why not just be a barbarian?

The stats i'm working with are: 17,17,13,13,13,12
we used 4d6 drop the lowest, best 6/7 (so we drop one roll).

I was thinking going traditional human for the +1 on the board seeing that I have a lot of odd numbers.

Or go variant Human get two +1s and then add useful feats to round up stats that matter Like Dec and Wis. Half-Elf is also an option

Bad version Human is never worth it

Any suggestions? Like what are the best feats for a magic user?

Resilient Con and Warcaster are both great for making sure your concentration never gets disrupted. Spell Sniper ain't bad depending on how blasty you wanna be. Alertness and Lucky are also universally great

I'm thinking a cc build. Non of the feats are really popping out at me. I could see resilient going a long way.
