How far can the term of 'act as' be interpreted in regards to restrictions, interactions, etc.? I ask this because of Melee Tactics Toolbox. It gives us a crapton of goodies. One in particular puzzles me a bit in regards to the monk unarmored thinger..

Do we have an official solution to the monk-armor problem or does 'act as' mean he loses class abilities that need him to be 'unarmored'?

Let's ignore the "act as" part for a second. The Advocate's Armor is an armor. It so says in the name and it says so in the slot (Slot armor). Fluffwise it barely constitute like armor, but that still means it is armor.

Also yeah, "act as" means that rulewise it is a leather armor. It gets the ac, acp, asf and all those other armor related stats just like a leather armor. That also means the Advocate's Armor is a light armor for the rules. Which also means a class like Bard, Magus or Summoners can wear a Advocate's Armor and still wear use spells without ASF.

In both cases, monk cannot wear Advocate's Armor without loosing class abilities.

It's printed next to Wizard's Mail. If it had no ACP/ASF that item would be redundant I think

the solution to monks lacking armor is easy, a mage armor spell or a greater luminous armor spell if you're allowing backward compatability from 3.5

Make a continuous magic armour thereof.

You could just wear clothing and enchant it like armour no?

Dubious, it's a common house rule but doesn't have a lot of RAW support. There is a slight mention in the Magic Vestment (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/m/magic-vestment) spell, but then you run in the same problem as before:
Clothing counts as armor, thus can't be worn by monks.

Were that the case, I'd probably want to give them Charisma to AC instead of Wisdom. :smalltongue:

In the book Chainmail Bikini, there is the Naked Defense. Which, if you could be seen as attractive to your attacker, you gain +1 to AC if partially nude, or +2 if fully. Just thought that was relevant.

In that case, are Bracers of Armor considered armor?

Nope, that is a wondrous item that takes op the wrist slot. It just happens to be give an armor bonus and can be enchanted as armor. Neither is a necklace of might fist a weapon, but it can be enchanted as a weapon.

That is also the way to homebrew enchanted clothing for monks, say it can be enchanted as armor, but make sure you don't say it acts like armor. Perhaps also assign it the body slot, instead of slotless (or the armor slot...).

And what is the bonus against prudes? Counting as invisible because they refuse to look at you? :smalltongue:

I don't know why, but the last panel here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0028.html) seems relevant...

...this one (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0025.html), too...
