Here lately I've been creating 'themed' parties for simple mental exercise.
How to create the best party to combat dragons, undead, etc.
Now I've come upon the idea of a party comprised entirely of arcane casters.

So far the party is comprised of a Beguiler, a Wizard/Master Specialist/Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil, and a Duskblade.

The crux here is what to have as the last member of this party? The only missing thing here is more of a tank, or possibly a healer. Which, sticking to the arcane theme, is not easy to come by in either case. Any suggestions?

Bard, for the healing spells?

Bard is an idea, but I thought that a bit...vanilla.

Spellthief would be a good option. Your Duskblade can be a tank, particularly with judicious applications of specific spells.

Spellthieves can fill a terrific number of roles, especially against magical opponents. One sneak attack, and suddenly not only does your foe suck, but you rock too. There's nothing quite like sneak attacking a cleric and stealing their divine power and/or righteous might.

Further, he's got UMD as a class skill, so he can be party healer with wands.

A sorcerer or conjurer might work as a healer - healing spells are all conjuration effects, and the Arcane Disciple feat lets you pick a domain and add it to your spell list. I couldn't actually say if this lets you use the entire domain freely if you're a sorcerer, but it's worth looking at.

What seems to be missing is the archetypal blaster. A warlock would be flavourful, but a bit limited. Warmage with the Arcane Disciple feat and the healing domain would automatically gain full access to the healing spells, many times a day, so could be both artillery and combat medic.
