The only Las Vegas-styled mega-casino in the Modern Town, The Barbary Coast is a 40-floor epic in the theme of the mythical Pirate Utopias. It mixes a tropical decor and atmosphere with the laissez-faire attitude and rules of both those pirate cities and the city that gave it its inspiration (any illegal activity without a direct victem, and even some with, is politely ignored on premises). It boasts live music, an extensive array of slot machines, a sizable roulette section, the best dealers and the largest pit ("the pit" is the casino term for where cards are played) this side of Monaco, a tiki bar, luxury hotel rooms, and a free buffet for gamblers. The tiki bar serves tropical mixed drinks, and the buffet is of a limited scale; The Barbary Coast doesn't want to come in to competition with the Matador, the Town's hottest eatery. That said, it can credibly boast the best Pina Colada in the Town.
There are several private rooms for high-stakes card games.

Ashleigh Montcrief the polite, effete, (supposedly) British maitre'd and general overseer of Casino floor management.
Sam "Tails" Romero the witty, snappy, sometimes sarcastic, but always charming house pianist.
Allison Hynde the official greeter, coat-check girl, staff morale-booster, and good-girl-working-her-way through college.

Two men appear with a 'pop'.
"Now this is my kind of place!"
"A Las Vegas-wannabe casino? Why oh why am I not surprised?"
"Because Vegas was where the evil survivors went," they chorus, and laugh.
Ooh, slots!" The older man plays once, and an obscene amount of money comes out.
"Stop that! It isn't fair."
"Scine when did you care?"
". . . alright, point. But you don't want to get kicked out, do you?"
"I'd like to see them try."
The younger man shakes his head and wanders towards the buffet table. He notices that there is a plate of roast beef sandwiches and grins. "Mordred be a-hungry." He digs in.

Allie, I'm begginin' ta' think that jus' maybe 'dat whole "all ya can eat" buffet thing wasn't so good an idea, Tails says with sarcastic understatement.

I didn't mean us, I meant the casino in general. Besides, you don't have any kids, Sam, Allison laughs.

"I can hear you, you know," Mordred says with a grin. "So I suggest you stop complaining. Anyway, I have a fast metabolism."
"You can say that again," Flagg snorts. "Just be glad he hasn't tried to eat you yet." He wanders over towards the buffet himself, a bottle of whiskey appearing in one hand. "Pleased to meet you," he adds to Tails, holding out his hand, "hope you guess my name." And he winks.
