Yes, I know there's a warforged race in one of the Unearthed Arcana supplements - I built this before that was released, and having seen the UA warforged, my players and I are keeping this one. Unlike the UA warforged, this one has subraces that change the focus slightly, making it possible to focus on a broader range of classes and playstyles.

Designed and built for a long-forgotten war, the warforged are living, sentient constructs. Their metal bodies hide an intricate blend of clockwork and crystal, animated by ancient magic. With their original purpose long behind them, many warforged have since lapsed into dormancy, but some remain active, following their own inscrutable desires.

Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2.

Warforged are constructed, not born, and so do not age as natural creatures do. The wars for which they were first created were long ago, so most warforged are very old, but their personalities do not always reflect this. Damage, intentional alterations, and inbuilt mechanisms can affect a warforged's recall, so not all of them carry the burden of centuries of memory.

The warforged were built to follow orders without question, and so tend to be lawful. However, it is not unheard of for them to feel the need for self-determination after their years of service, leading them down other paths. Their origins in unthinking service mean that it is rare for a warforged to develop a particular bias toward good or evil.

Warforged are between 6 and 7 feet tall and weigh between 250 and 350 lbs. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.


Armour Plating
You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.

Construct Dormancy
Instead of sleeping, you enter a dormant state from which you gain all the same benefits a human does from sleep. You must rest this way for 4 hours. During this time, you remain aware of your surroundings; however, taking any action will interrupt your rest.

Warforged Resilience
You have resistance against poison damage, and advantage on saving throws against poison effects.

Living Construct
You are a living humanoid, even though you were built, not born. You are immune to disease. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can eat and drink if you wish.

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.

Designed and built for front-line use, these towering warforged are specialists in armed combat.

Ability score increase
Your Strength score increases by 1.

Built For Battle
You are proficient with the longsword, shortsword, battleaxe, and warhammer.

Mind Of Iron
You can end any stunned condition affecting you at the start of your turn. You must complete a short rest before you can use this ability again.

Given life by magic, a warforged arcanist makes great use of the innate power that flows through them.

Ability score increase
Your Charisma score increases by 1.

You know the thaumaturgy cantrip, and one other cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it.

The sleek warforged infiltrators were built as special forces, and deployed on missions requiring stealth and cunning.

Ability score increase
Your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Built For Speed
Your base walking speed increases to 35 feet.

Well-Oiled Machine
You cannot be detected by scent, and all Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing to detect you are made with disadvantage.
