Looking to build a strong war weaver for a high magic campaign. Lv 14 and would like to be a party buffer obviously. Any help is appreciated.

Wizard 1/Rainbow Servant 10/War Weaver 3. You can get early entry with Precocious Apprentice (any cold spell) & Snowcasting to enter Rainbow Servant at level 2.

You can also take the levels of War Weaver first (from 6-10) to max out your War Weaver abilities earlier, in exchange for access to the cleric spell list.

Finish off the build with 2 more levels of War Weaver and Spellguard of Silverymoon 4. SoS 4 combined with Magic of the Land (RotW) allows you to cast any personal spells through your tapestry, which can be rather handy.

Here are the two War Weaver (http://community.wizards.com/forum/previous-editions-character-optimization/threads/1098856)Handbooks (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=5881.0).

Also, how many DM's would actually allow early entry shenanigans? Mine would have either smacked me or laughed at me if I'd tried it.

A build that doesn't have any legality problems is Focused Transmuter 5/War Weaver 5/Master Specialist 4; ban Necromancy, Enchantment and Evocation. At this point you can take at most one or two more levels of Master Specialist as the higher level Esoterica's do nothing to help the War Weaver. Archmage is the typical capstone choice but War Weaver has already given you one of its better abilities, namely Arcane Reach.

There was a thread on this recently and I think that it's generally accepted that Precocious Apprentice early-entry shenanigans is technically legal by RAW. Now, whether your DM will allow it or not is questionable, as you said, but it doesn't technically have legality problems.

Generally early entry will not produce something that is stronger than the more "mainstream" PO caster builds (with classes that don't lend themselves to early entry because of skill requirements).
If those are acceptable at your table all that early entry does is give your players variety without falling behind in general power level.

In the case of the build i outlined above, doing it without early entry essentially means that you get to the meat of your build (cleric spells + war weaver) by the time you get 9th level spells, which is a little too late for most campaigns.

The point of the game is to have fun after all, and waiting until level 20 to get to your build-defining abilities isn't fun at all. (If your campaign even runs that long)

If your DM doesn't allow early entry don't use this build, obviously. But since the OP didn't state it one way or another (except that it's supposed to be high magic) and the build is RAW-legal i think it's a valid suggestion. It's certainly fun to play if you like the support role.

Thanks for the input. Ill see about working it into the character. As far as the campaign goes, everything from Eberon, Greyhawk and Faerun as well as most compendiums.

It's also generally accepted that the wording is confusing as hell and self-contradictory (you can cast a level 2 spell, but once you can cast level 2 spells...) so your table's mileage may vary.

In addition, there is the thorny text vs. table question in Rainbow Servant itself. RAW, text triumphs table, however I recall people checking foreign printings and in most cases (but not all!), the text has been updated to match the table, so there is your likely intent.

On to actual suggestions:

Spellguard of Silverymoon is commonly paired with War Weaver to make more spells qualify for your weave.

Incantatrix is also often paired with War Weaver, but Incantatrix makes almost any caster build better, so there is that. :)
