Hi folks first time posting and was just wondering about some things about monster AC's and such and wanted to get the playgrounds thoughts on the matter.

What happens if say a creature that has natural armour, for example a Medusa, puts on armour like say chainmail or has unarmoured defense from a class feature.

Would the chainmail AC or unarmoured defense feature take into account the natural armour the monster has or is it no longer applied?

In 5e any kind of armor (natural armor, mage armor, plate, chain, etc) changes the base AC calculation rather than providing bonuses. You could use natural armor or manufactured armor, but not both. Consider the Dragon Sorcerer for an example of a PC with a kind of natural armor. It sets the AC to 13+dex rather than the base 10+dex.

Different types of armor do not stack unless they are modifiers (example: +1 AC).

If a Dragon Sorc puts on a suit of armor he takes the highest of either his Draconig Resilience AC or his armor AC.
