What is Chain Chronicle?

Chain Chronicle is a free-to-play game for iOS and Android operating systems. It is an RPG made by Gumi and Sega, where you play a fantasy hero raising an army of various characters to oppose an army of monsters. Combat is played out across a roughly 6x3 grid; you form a team of four characters plus one friend to fight off waves of enemy attackers.

Over the course of the game, you can recruit various characters through gacha-style random draws. Characters can be Soldiers (strong melee attack), Knights (moderate melee attack, strong defense, can block projectiles), Archers (strong ranged attack), Wizards (strong ranged attack and special abilities, but powers tend to be costly), or Clerics (heal allies within range). Every time you recruit a new hero, you can go on quests to learn more about his or her history and personality.

Is it any good?

I happen to think so. The artwork is lovely, the music is decent, the combat animations are adorable, and the mechanics are fairly intuitive. The story tends to be fairly entertaining, and the characters manage to endear themselves more often than not.

This and Terra Battle are the only F2P mobile games I actually play and I've been playing both since day one. I haven't played recently since I'm waiting for my phone back, but my team is pretty high level. Deed, Ioh, Faceless and Melvina. I think I was levelling up Coro to replace Ioh but isn't there a Soldier-class Fortune Ring character out at the moment?

I do have a Knight-only party but it's not too good and getting the characters I actually want for it will be impossible.

There is a Soldier Ring character out at the moment, but I'm avoiding Ring characters until I can full-LB one.

Do you have Juliana? My understanding is that she (or Wayne, who also has Knight's Bond) is basically mandatory for a full-Knight party. Even as a sub she's great. Bonus, her as a sub with Kain's volunteer weapon. But yeah.

My own party is kind of a mixed bag. I'm relying heavily on Karen and Armilus, but I recently got a 3-LB Selene. Assuming I ever get her up to 60, that Medic ability will make her a fairly decent frontliner. Still need to level more before I can make good use of my 4*s and 5*s.

Are you planning on farming the Crafting system, or is that a low priority for you?
