The Seventh Tellurian Games
-Summer, 537-

All Guests note - any alliances, trades and/or betrothals can be merged into your action of attending the games, so long as you summarize all occurrences in your action post.

All rulers in attendance are invited to stay with the Haljans of Fræzeid and Halja's Kvista in either tents or rooms in the Fjarskad Amphitheatre. In the tents set aside for rulers are soft blankets for the ground, a section of polished wood upon which sits a large stone bowl of Absinthe and some wooden mugs, a large amount of fine pillows dotted around the place and a sturdy framework for a silk hammock. For those rulers who would prefer to sleep in a building, the Fjarskad Amphitheatre has fine rooms with similar furnishing and more traditional foreigner bedding, imported from Pirate's Rest. Visitors are asked not to stray too far from the Fjarskad Amphitheatre.

Locations
Fjarskad Amphitheatre, Treasure Cove
The Fjarskad Amphitheatre is big enough to be visible from the Blue Horizon Sea and was designed to double as an airship construction site while not being used for the Games. Due to this, the Amphitheatre is the same shape as a large Feran airship balloon. This is to enable Ferans to reach the balloon without having to construct as much scaffolding. In the centre of the Amphitheatre is a building with a flat roof thrice as tall as the average human. The ring-shaped field is separated into three by walls with walkways on top. Between the centre building and the seating hang a few rope walkways where members of the audience may apply to stand to view some events. For events that are too dangerous, these walkways are put away for the duration.

The Airship Landing Pad, Treasure Cove
Near the Fjarskad Amphitheatre is a large circular wooden platform with a Feran windmill in the centre. A series of traditional looking docks protrude from it. At the end of each dock are sets of large sturdy poles where an airship may be tied. Railed platforms lifts powered by the windmill are used to reach the ground from the platform. Due to weight restrictions, heavier items are transported from airship to the ground by cranes which are located beside some of the docks.

The Feran Camp
Surrounding the Fjarskad Amphitheatre is a sea of Feran tents. Most are a shade of green which blends well with the grassy plains and temperate forests of Fræzeid. Some are the deep blacks and greys of the Haljans of Halja. Dotted throughout are the deep greens and browns of the Haljan Kvista that have travelled all the way from Hleibjan and Vythau to attend the event. Large spaces nearer the Amphitheatre have been set aside for foreign nations to camp if they so desire, causing the inner ring of the Feran Camp to stand out compared to the rest when viewed from airship.

The Field of Stellyx
Beneath the constellation of the Great Gate is the 'Field of Stellyx'. Southwest of the Field of Stellyx are the Fjarskad Amphitheatre's public gathering halls, where absinthe can be found in almost every room. These halls are decorated with a the Tellurian night sky at various hours. If desired, one or more of these halls may be reserved for private meetings by a nation. Feran security is provided for those who require it.

The Field of Terfonel-D
The Blue Horizon Sea is barely visible as one enters the hallway leading to the seating for 'the Field of Terfonel-D'. Just north of this field are some large galleries where the Arts Contest Entries are displayed. Toward the southern edge of the area, materials required for the Engineering Challenge has been set up. In the centre, some atmospheric elements have been added to enhance the Loreweaving event including incense burners and Kathuan Wisps.

The Field of Zirconyx
Though the Mountain Range of Neo Scandza cannot be seen from outside the 'Field of Zirconyx', it was placed there for this reason. Around the outside of the field is rope fencing, marking out the route for the mounted race. In the centre, sturdy wooden walls have been quickly built to contain the Mass Melee. To allow the audience to see, wooden platforms have been constructed around the outside of the walls. Toward the south, the Duel Tournament area has been marked only by rope fencing. Numerous fully armed Haljan Zirndar stand around the outside of the ring to ensure duelists do not endanger the audience.

Event Descriptions

Aerial Display: Competitors display their flight skills on their choice of flying mount. Some Luftus Nochenwaurm have been provided for athletes who do not have their own. A small team of judges will score entries based on a number of criteria. Prizes are awarded to the most impressive display.

Arts Contest: Competitors (either individuals or teams of up to fifty) display any form of art in the large galleries north of the Field of Terfonel-D. A small team of judges will score entries based on a number of criteria. Prizes are awarded to the best display.

Caragita: The Caragita is a contest in four parts; a foot race, long jump, javelin throw and wrestling. Prizes are awarded for individual events. Traditionally the prize for the best overall is the highest honour of the Games.

The Debate: Competitors are assigned a topic and whether they are to argue for or against it. Prizes are awarded to the most compelling debater.

Demonstration Events: Upon a large platform in the middle of the Ampitheatre, any nation may set up their display in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Duel Tournament: Each duelist fights each other duelist with blunted weapons in a best of three match. Prizes are awarded to the duelist with the best win/draw/loss ratio.

Engineering Challenge: Small teams attempt to solve the set challenge as efficiently as possible. A small team of judges will score entries based on a number of criteria. Prizes are awarded to the best designs.

Feran Steinar: Competitors play the classic Feran game 'Steinar' which involves red and black stones on a grid board. The player who claims the biggest territory wins. Prizes are awarded to the player with the best win/draw/loss ratio.

Flight of Stellyx: Competitors fly on Luftus Nochenwaurm through the mountain ranges of Neo Scandza to reach Blews Fjalihriggs. Due to the heavy mysts of the region, contestants will be almost entirely blind and must rely on the 'powers that be' (for example, the spirits, their ancestors, their God, their inner power) to guide them. Prizes are awarded to the quickest contestant with the least wounded Luftus Nochenwaurm. Please note that this event is dangerous and potentially even fatal!

Loreweaving: Competitors combine atmosphere and storytelling to recite a piece of lore. A small team of judges will score entries based on a number of criteria. Typically, tales involving religious powers have an edge due to their naturally awe inspiring nature. Prizes are awarded to the best story teller.

Mass Melee: Parties from realms are pitted against each other in combat. Prizes are awarded to the last party standing.

Mounted Race: Competitors race on standard sized mounts around the outside edge of the Field of Zirconyx. Mounts must adhere to strict regulations including but not limited to size, risk and magical ability.

Ranged Tournament: Competitors fire at moving targets from short, medium and long distances. Prizes are awarded to the most accurate markspeople. Gunpowder and seige weaponry are not allowed.

Seaborne Regatta: Competitors race along the coastline of Neo Scandza and Fræzeid. Each competitor must pass through each of the checkpoints along the way, ultimately arriving at the shore closest to the Games. Haljans astride Luftus Nochenwaurm will ensure there is no foul play. Unfortunately, due to Fera's limited access to the main seas, nations must construct their ship especially for the event. Permission for a team of no more than fifty shipbuilders has been given to interested nations to remain in Fera for the duration of the construction up to a year. Plenty of Niskovian wood has been made available for ship construction.

Vefnaub Spinne Charming: Competitors attempt to gain the trust of a relatively tame 'Tangleweave Spider', so named for its curious web. The spider stands twice as tall as the average human and possesses a deadly venom. The foolhardy Haljan who befriended the spider has named her 'Gary' after the Great Tree of Fræzeid. Prizes are awarded to the contestants who come within arms' reach of the spider the quickest in the best condition. Please note that this event is dangerous and potentially even fatal!

Instructions

For each event, roll the number of d12s indicated in the table above and then add your modifier to the result. To calculate your modifier, add your realm size and ruler score together then subtract penalties. Great Kingdoms or Federations with less than eight regions have a realm size bonus of +1. Empires or Federations with eight or more regions have a realm size bonus of +2. To calculate your ruler score, add your Diplomacy, Military, Curiosity and Faith scores together then divide the result by the number of scores added together then divide by two. Then round your result up.

For example, the Great Kingdom of Awesome has one ruler whose stats are Diplomacy 7, Military 3, Curiosity 1 and Faith 6. The GK of Awesome would add these scores together to get 17. They would ten divide this by 8 to get 2 and 1 eighth. They would then round this up to arrive at a modifier of 3.

Please include a link to your rolls and if applicable, Scrolls of Prowess Style.

Penalties
Aerial Display - -2 if your realm lacks a native/imported flying animal that has been adapted to a flying tech and the requisite tech
Caragita - -2 if your realm lacks a native/imported resource of athletic professionals (e.g. Athletes, Knights, Carnival Troops)
Duel Tournament - -2 if you do not specify a scrolls of prowess style used in your duels
Engineering Challenge - -2 if your realm lacks a native/imported resource of educated persons (e.g. Engineers, Scientists, Inventors)
Loreweaving - -2 if your realm lacks at least a majority of any organised religion
Mounted Race - -2 if your realm lacks a native/imported cavalry resource that has been adapted to a cavalry tech and the requisite tech. -1 if your realm has native/imported Pegasi and the requisite tech
Ranged Tournament - -2 if your realm lacks knowledge of advanced ranged techs
Seaborn Regatta - -2 if your realm lacks Ocean Faring tech and the requisite resources
Vefnaub Spinne Charming - -2 if your realm lacks a technology which involves training animals (e.g. Griffon Riding, Insect Training, Loaders)

Penalties cannot reduce your result below 1

National Focus
Each nation may select a single event as their national focus. For this event, two of their competitors reach the finals. To represent this, roll an aditional time for this event only. Both will be noted in the Standings Table.

Additionally, each nation may select a single stat category as their national focus. These are Diplomacy, Military, Curiosity and Faith. For any event within their national focus, they may add +2 to their modifier.

Duel Tourney
These rolls will be done separately by the event organiser. In the spoilerbox containing your rolls and the relevant link(s), include an expression of interest in Dules Participation by filling out the following:
Nation: <NATION>
Duelist: <NAME>
Realm Size: <REALM SIZE>
Ruler Score: <RULER SCORE>

Additionally, there are awards for each event for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing. Failure to describe your Art Contest entry will result in a disqualification from that event.

The Freehold's appearance in Fera was, to some, surprising. Most of the world had heard of the coup in the Heartwaste, whether successful or not depended largely upon who you asked but opinion tended towards the belief that the conglomerate of Principalities would remain withdrawn from the world as the new Queen secured herself, and if it wasn't Alicia Loistavaseppä they might have been proven right. As it was however a delegation of Faedas did arrive, relatively small compared to other more ostentatious delegations but filled with vim and vigor. At it's head was the King-Consort Edward Serendel II along with his and the Queen's ten year old daughter Myria. They were flanked by two dangerous looking members of the recently formed Faedic Wardens, who bore a distinct platinum pendant in the design of a knotted heart identifying their allegiance to the new Military Order and the protection of the delegation. Although joined by a few scattered nobles, including a few of the courtiers of Glazfell who had joined the court some years back, none of the Princes had elected to join the expedition. Instead the party was bulked out by members of the Children of Kina clergy. It was well known Queen Lorisanth had been a devout Child herself and a patron of the faith, what they were doing alongside the sitting Queen who had replaced her begged many questions although to ask directly would only reveal they were the athletes, artists, and thinkers brought to compete which while true surely hid a deeper truth.

The Freehold had little contact with the Far West but for a few trade agreements with Niskovia and so Edward elected to himself greet the host personally, holding his daughters hand as he made his way into the camp. After he was done greeting the Feran hosts he hoped to await the arrival of his original home delegation from the Kingdom of Serendel, having much to discuss with his cousin, the Emperor Ridion. Elsewhere the Glazfelli courtiers sought the Glazfell Hegemony while the Children athletes sought to meet with the Seaborne Confederation.

An opportunity to visit the distant and mysterious land of Fera after many years of trade but no formal diplomatic visits, was not to be passed up lightly, even were they not hosting the Games, and a sizeable delegation made the journey. Some shipwrights had travelled ahead to construct the vessel for the seaborne regatta, but most of the rest of the dignitaries and athletes came by air, a flight of four storm dragons surrounded by perytons, huma birds and harpies. A few further attendants travelled by land through the Empire of the Silver Moon and Niskovia.

Ridion and his wife, and children - as well as other family members arrived at the games, after having stayed at the Niskovian Embassy for a time. They were esquorted by the usual amount of guards, though this time there were also a good number of priests of Ramhsa present. Even more were said to be left behind in Niskovia, rumors said. Upon arrival, the Emperor made his pleasantries of thanks for being invited to the games to the Feran welcoming, and then proceeded straight to Edward.

"Greetings, cousin. If I'm not mistaken, we have much to talk about."

The king's sons, heading the delegation, were golden-skinned, dark-eyed twins, and would have been all but indistinguishable were it not for every other aspect of their appearance. Eldys wore his hair long, and the colourful garb prominent at the Horbeach court, while Alfrett's hair was more closely-cropped and his dress simpler, more form-fitting. Each wore a sword, all the same, and stalked in near-perfect step with the other as they led their kingdom's dignitaries through the camp to where their servants should already have erected their own dwellings.

"I think I will enter the caragita," Alfrett said as they passed the amphitheatre.

"Don't be a fool. With everything else you're scheduled for the caragita would be an extravagance. I still think the duels are a step too far."

"You doubt my prowess with a blade?"

"No sane man would, but I do doubt your endurance over four days when you're also competing in other events."

"I won't let the kingdom be humiliated again as at the last Games."

"And if you compete in the caragita after four days of duelling it will be. Even dragons need to rest, Alfrett."

They passed a group of Niskans. "Looking for anyone in particular?" Alfrett asked.

"What?"

"There's no point trying to lie to me, brother, even now. You were looking for her. Leni."

"Of course. We still have no idea what the situation in Niskovia is - who lives, who has died - only that she and a handful of others survive."

"And that's all?"

Eldys stopped. "She's family, Ret."

"A fifth cousin or something. I've never even met her."

"I have. She's Tansyn's granddaughter, and her family were butchered. Including her twin, if some of the rumours are true. I would not have thought sympathy beyond you, under the circumstances."

"It is not, and nor did I mean to suggest so. It's just that since I returned from Kelldria you've talked about Leni Nisakovich more than you have your wife."

They glared at each other for a moment. "You need have no concerns over my marriage, brother," Eldys said eventually. "Besides, I'm not the sibling you should be concerned about."

Alfrett looked confused for a moment, glanced behind them and cursed. Apparently bored waiting for her brothers to resolve their argument and move on, Ameryn had wandered off and was talking to a young man some distance away. By his coloured skin he could be presumed to be Raaneki; Ameryn was giggling and twirling her hair idly. Alfrett sighed and walked over.

The man grinned as Alfrett approached, and the prince favoured him with a cold smile, tapping his sword pommel. "Not in this lifetime, friend." Ameryn threw him a filthy look and made her way back to where Eldys was smirking.

"I hope you fall off Harmatis and break something," she said as Alfrett rejoined them.

"Next to what father would do to me if anything untoward befall you, I'd consider that a mercy."

Upon arrival, the Emperor made his pleasantries of thanks for being invited to the games to the Feran welcoming, and then proceeded straight to Edward.

"Greetings, cousin. If I'm not mistaken, we have much to talk about."

Edward, still holding close his daughter by her hand smiled broadly at his cousin before suppressing the smile and approaching the Dawn Emperor. He let Myria's hand go to go into a deep bow in deference to his cousin while the young Myria curtsied as elegantly as possible for a ten year old. Rising from his bow Edward threw open his arms and pulled his cousin into a hug.

"Ridion, my cousin, my savior. The first thing we need to talk about is my thanks, for myself and for my family. I am personally indebted to you as I am to no other. I am sorry we could not thank you sooner and that my dearest Alicia could not be here to thank you herself but understand she bears as much gratitude to you as I do. If it weren't for you," Edward paused, looking over at Myria with the twinkle of a tear in his eye as he drew his daughter in close and hugged her, "Just, thank you cousin."

Swallowing away a lump that had risen in his throat Edward continued, "Now, it isn't just personal gratitude we're here to speak of. I have traveled here with the Children of Kina native to the Freehold to discuss the gratitude of the nation my wife now sits at the head of and where to go from here. The people have accepted Alicia as rightful Queen in the absence of a Varinel Twin and superior to Meztli, as have the nobles, but they are wary. The Children are more concerned. They say, and Children from across the lands confirm, that the Queen Lorisanth lives and has called to them to rescue her. By the testimony of the various Children Queen Lorisanth is said to be held in Tzalteclan, within the Tower Perilous constructed by the Tzaltec some years prior. The Children are demanding Alicia do something to recover the Queen but if she is returned it will be expected of Alicia to step down in favor of a Varinel Twin."

"I do not wish to put my wife in danger again and I do not wish to profit from the ill schemes of Meztli so I believe we should pursue this as the Children suggest. However, I come to you because I also bear this letter from the Throne of Thorns,"

Edward nodded to his daughter who began to pull a scroll from her finely made handbag.

"No one would suspect a young girl of carrying something so important," he explained, taking the scroll from his daughter with a smile and nod to her, "It is an unfortunate lesson learned in my time in the Freehold but a useful one."

Edward handed the scroll to Ridion who, upon unrolling it would read that it was a contract of vassalage of Faedas to the Empire of Dawn. The terms were relatively simple, only the barring of religious proselytization of Faedas lands seemed to stick out as 'of note.' As the Emperor finished reading and looked up Edward continued,

"I only met Queen Lorisanth once, but she struck me as an honorable woman. I believe if we recover her from the Tzaltec she will recognize the role the Empire of Dawn played in saving Alicia and I and if we turn to rescue her in turn, well, I believe she would be as indebted as I am to you cousin."

"Of course, recovering her from the Tzaltec may prove more difficult..." Edward trailed off, "It may mean war with the Tzaltec and even if we can recover her without war I suspect Queen Lorisanth would be none too pleased at being held captive. There's certainly no love lost between myself and the would-be killers of my family but I feel it is important we be clear. If we pursue this, it will be war with the Tzaltec."

The Revelry

The moment the Tellurian Sun sank below the horizon, four horns sounded from the hill where the Fjarskad Airship Landing Pad was. The horns came steadily closer to the Amphitheatre as the four Feran representatives of each species of Fera jogged; Aglus Thuidans Leikeis Kaiser a Muruzaik Haljan representing the Haljans, Magnesa representing the Masked Ones, Ekwyn representing the Yslynd and Kylarius representing the Kardiloss. Not far behind them, Ferans bearing streamers of many reds, oranges, yellows and greens danced and twirled their way to the Amphitheatre. At the edge of the Feran Camp, the representatives ceased and there were moments of tense silence as Aglus Thuidans Kaiser lit a torch and carried it toward one of the many bonfires set up around the camp. As he lit the bonfire, an explosion of drums and chanting erupted from the Camp heralding the beginning of the Games even though the Feran Revelry would have to quiet in time for the diurnal athletes to sleep. Come sunrise, however, the Revelry will continue with fervor as all who wish come together to celebrate the Opening of the Games.

The Demonstration Events
A Speech by Aglus Thuidans Kaiser

For more than a century now, much of Fera has been closed to all foreigners for our safety after the War against the Raiders. For decades, the forces that would act against us have been waning until Fera could grow to become the nation you see before you. Our nation realises from the outside our closed borders and strict trade may seem to be over the top, but I would hope you can understand that after a long war in which many Haljans died and much of my family were assassinated we were hesitant. Not just out of mistrust, but also that though raiders were of many species they were so rarely Feran themselves that without potential friends or neutrals in the way it became easy to become the hunters rather than the hunted. Today, however, we deal with so few raiders that are not Feran pirates that it seems pointless for things to remain as they are when the world is so full of potential. Though some may see us as enemies, we hope to give those who would see us as potential friends a better chance.

Edward had been like a brother to Ridion growing up, as they had both been mentored by Myrida, and raised together, along with the other potentials for the throne. Ridion's heart swelled at seeing his cousin and daughter alive, and he without hessitation returned the embrace fully, caring not who saw it. "Thanks is not neccessary. You and Alicia are family, and Faedas' troubles with Tzalteclan are our own."

Ridion listened to Edward intently, and noded in regards to Loris' capture. They would need to speak more on this in private. Perhaps a private room, if they could manage it. He certainly had some ideas...

Then Myria pulled out the scroll. Clever. Ridion read it through and nodded. "I accept your terms, cousin." Ridion then smiled again, and extended a hand to Edward. "Welcome back to the Empire of Dawn."

"Perhaps we should move to somewhere more private? Shall we speak to the Ferans for such arrangements?" Edward asked his cousin, now once more his Emperor.

Edward along with his daughter and his cousin approached the nearest Feran to discuss arrangements for the two parties, though Edward stayed back to let Ridion do the talking.

High Priestess Gloria had deigned to attend the games, but had insisted that Edea not speak to her. Vurima had come as well, but she was hardly pleasant company. She barely spoke, and when she did... well...

"Come on, Vurima, lighten up, it's the Tellurian games! It'll be a blast!"
"I fail to see why I would want to go witness an explosion."
"... well what about a bunch of sweaty athletic men trying to outperform each other?"
"I didn't say anything about that."
"No, I did."
"No, you didn't either."
"Frostbite..."
"I recommend hot water."

It was like pulling teeth.

The Head Priestess was looking forward to the games - their Caragita team this year was amazing. Perhaps Sycia would get its name immortalized into the rolls sooner than later.

Gloria had had a crystal sculpture of herself commissioned for the art contest. It was a purple statue twice as tall as Edea that caught the sunlight perfectly, sending small sparkles dancing across the ground. Gloria had called it imposing, opulent and imperial - Edea called it a gaudy eyesore. But she didn't really like art anyway, beyond their cultural implications.

It is probably the first time Calorum ever joined the games, usually the priests are to busy with praying to care for such mortal affairs. However, now that the Skytemple is finished and the great journey has started, it makes sense to visit the games as well. And so High Priestess Arvaya Divinorum set foot on Feran soil for the first time. The Skytemple’s magnificent features brightened the sky as the High Priestess and her delegation left to mingle with the other Lords and Ladies who had come to prove themselves. Arvaya, her son Brethar and her doughter Sirena were all visiting the games and would be traveling with the Skytemple for the duration of the great journey, obviously taking the unicorn Vilindrina with them. Arvaya and Brethar would both be participating in the Loreweaving competition, Arvaya was also going to participate in the Debate. Surprisingly they would all join in the Art Contest. Together with some of the priests that had come along, they would perform a fire dance. The fire dance is an old Calorum ritual in which every participant carries a burning torch made of exquisite materials, sometimes the torches connected to chains which allows for larger and faster movements. The dance is meant to draw the Lords attention. To mortals it might seem as if facial features can be observed, formed by the ‘dancing’ torches.

The Seaborne Confederation arrived in a pair of Skyships. Painted in hues of blue and white, they were difficult to pcik out from the clear sky, appearing as small wisps of clouds. Only as they moved against the wind did they distinguish themselves from nature. Showing off, the Captains piloted their ships in a weaving course around the airships, showing off what a truly maneuverable vessel could do in comparison to those “balloons”. The pair of ships settled into the waters of Blue Horizon Sea and made anchor.
In short order, the S.C. delegation had moved into a their accommodations. Feran decorating style was similar to Islander: low furnishings, rugs, hammocks, hanging curtains, and screens to separate the large tents into private areas. They felt quite at home.
Leading the party wash Eli Grant, chief aide to his sister the Skipper-General. His wife was with him, as always. Kitten and Spitfire, his cousins, were there to carouse, or as they put it “Uphold the TRUE tradition of the Raanakan Games”. Amber’s children and their wifes were along as well. Strangely, the Eldest Child of Kina chose to attend, along with his new spouse. Rumors suggest that SIlene is drawn to the Games by the memories of his former life as Tupelo Cornus. Others merely suggest it is a honeymoon on the Confederation largesse.

Elsewhere the Glazfelli courtiers sought the Glazfell Hegemony

Glazfell's delegation was small this year. While of course many still chose to attend the games, Glazfell's eyes were not on the west, but on the east. Happenings in Faedas weighed heavy on the minds of the Royal Family and a new concern for the threat posed by assassins spread through the court on a level unseen since Grandmaster Alton's failed coup.

Still, the Seneschal of Glazfell was available in a private tent established for her security, should any seek out relations with her country at this event. A pair of guards stood outside to keep the rabble out, but some of Glazfell's own with news of importance from a place of concern would not be given significant hassle.

The inside of the pavilion was neatly arranged, with fine cloths draped over an honest-to-goodness bedframe. Getting it out of the zeppelin must have been difficult, but there were enough athletes here that perhaps it might not have been after all. The bottom was lightly carpeted, and incense had been lit to keep the insects outside. Insects referring to the damned earwigs, flies, and beetles, of course, not sentient ones. Case in point, the fully-armed-and-armored Nothokhua Reaper standing on watch in one of the corners.

In the other back corner of the tent, a desk and chair had been assembled, rife with paperwork and inks, and it was here that the Seneschal sat, glasses set aside while she pored closely over copies of treaties and trade agreements that she was supposed to be abiding by. Shortly after the guests entered, the Nothokhua made a clicking vocalization to get the aging tiefling woman's attention, after which she began to raise her head and reach for her glasses.

"Thank you Calx, but I see them. Good day. Is there something I can do for you?"

"Thank you Calx, but I see them. Good day. Is there something I can do for you?"

"Seneschal," Ser Tibel recognized the aristocrat with a light bow, his companions, the Mundis Twins accompanying him in doing so.

"I come with news from Faedas, and news regarding events without those lands and effecting yours and my own original lands. It would behoove us I believe to discuss these matters privately."

Once the tent was ensured to be secure from eavesdropping ears the member of the Faedas court and member among the Frozen Ashes of Tekorva continued.

"You have heard of the assassination in Faedas, the abduction of Queen Lorisanth, the ascent of the now-Queen Alicia Loistavaseppä. These facts are not news to my homeland no doubt, but the effects. Well, the effects may be. The risen Queen Alicia is married to a man of Serendel, though none but herself and her family know how exactly it is well speculated and believed that the Empire of Dawn played a roll in protecting them from the blades of the assassins and directed their blades to Meztli. For her protection she has made offer of vassalage to the Dawn Empire, but that is not all. The members of the Faedic Order who have been put to trial have revealed that the coup was orchestrated by Meztli in cooperation with the Tzaltec Empire and have all but identified the assassins as the Unmarked while admitting to the abduction of Queen Loris themselves and plans to take her east."

"There have also been religious stirrings as well. Members of the Children of Kina have reported hearing the words of Queen Lorisanth, alive, calling them to recover her from a prison in Tzalteclan. I might not have believed them but even I as a recent convert heard something and I do believe Queen Lorisanth yet lives. If the message is true and the confessions of the Faedic Order are to be believed it seems that the Tzaltec Empire was complicit in trying to elevate one of their own to the Throne of Thorns to gain power over the Freehold. They failed to place Meztli and now the Freehold swings into the arms of Dawn."

"The Children will not fully accept Alicia while Lorisanth lives and not if Alicia does not try and recover the Varinel Queen. I believe Queen Alicia plans to gain their support by demanding the return of Lorisanth from the Tzaltec, whether in earnest or only show I do not know but I do know this, the Concordat is hanging by a thread, it may already be unraveled but I would think the recovery of Lorisanth would benefit the Hegemony more than the retaining of a Dawn loyalist. Queen Lorisanth may heed the agreement of vassalage to the Dawn, she is not so duplicitous as her sister, but I believe she will be freer and more open to Glazfell than this Dawn Queen. "

Edward took his cousin's hand, shaking it firmly and smiling with approval at his cousin's words.

After procuring a private conference area, Edward and Ridion proceed there to talk freely.

"There will need to be a few things we will need to hash out with regard to the Concordat alliance Faedas is still part of. After all, the beginning flames of the sunset war began when Guilder was evicted from the Concordat, largely because it conflicted with his vassalage to the Empire of Dawn. Because of this, I'd like to work out certain things involving trade, securing borders, conflicts of war, and any other article that the agreement of the Concordat pertains. I respect your alliance with them, but our forged alliance must also be respected by them. That is, if the Concordat continues to function with Tzalteclan's betrayal..." Ridion waved his hand. "That will be for another time. After the Games, I will travel with you back to Faedas to finalize terms. For now, I will consider Faedas as signed, and our nations allied."

"What concerns me most is Loris, and her safety. Knowing what was done to Wesley during the sunset war, I fear something of the sort may occur here as well. Likely not quite so severe, but..." Ridion left the sentence unfinished. "I have contacts within the Tzaltec Empire I could perhaps contact in regards to assisting with her rescue, or we could rely on the Empire of Dawn's allies to sneak her away...but I tire of stepping through the woods, fearing to break a stick. I nearly announced to the world Tzalteclan's plan when you informed me of your fears, so that none could accuse the Empire of foul play within Faedas, and was convinced against it for fear that it would not spare your lives, nor particularly do much of anything, without proof. Now, however, we have plenty of it. Tzalteclan must be given an ultimatum. Return Loris to us, or (if the rumors I have been hearing bear any truth) the war they have wanted to return to with the Empire of Dawn will be given to them. At their doorstep."

"You are right on such matters and such deliberations should likely include the Hegemony as well to determine the fate of the Concordat. The Glazfell courtiers who traveled with our delegation here are gone to seek council with the Hegemony over the current situation. I believe, as you say, this concern takes backseat to the pressures of now."

Edward listened and nodded along with his cousin, "Then we are in agreement. Alicia proposed much the same and I have come to these Games prepared to make such a statement. With your support there is no more delaying us. I shall speak with out hosts and acquire permission to make an announcement."

On the evening of the first day with many now present and arrived at the Games to bear witness King-Consort Edward of Faedas made his way to a raised platform in a central portion of the camp, having worked to acquire permission, or what he believed to be permission, to make an international statement. The Faedas delegation had been informed and encouraged to invite all who bore an interest in the future of Faedas to attend so a small crowd was already present when Edward arrived. The middle aged man looked over at his cousin, the Emperor Ridion who stood next to Myria and nodded to them both before ascending the stage.

"People of the world, thank you for coming to listen to me speak. Let me start first by saying thank you to our humble and kind hosts of Fera for hosting this grand tradition, these Tellurian Games. Let me further thank the Lords and Ladies of Raaneka for in ancient times organizing this event that so brings together camaraderie and family. It was at these Games fifteen years ago in Alzeroth where I met my wife, Alicia and with her moved to the Heartwaste and Faedas. It is because of these Games that our daughter was born," Edward looked over at Myria with a smile, "But she would not still be alive today if it hadn't been for my family in the Empire of Dawn and so my final thanks goes to my cousin, the Emperor Ridion who saved my family."

"No doubt many of you have now heard of the tragedies in the Heartwaste, the coup orchestrated by the traitorous Meztli Tayanya and her own family, the merciless Tzaltec. For years we in the Heartwaste had heard whispers of plots but in the final months before the abduction of Queen Lorisanth and the attempted assassination of my family and my wife's cousin to leave the path to the Throne of Thorns clear for Meztli I grew concerned and contacted my cousin, the Emperor of Serendel. He was swift to act and because of his actions my family was spared the blades of assassins and instead the orchestrator of the plot was consumed by it."

"To say I was relieved would be an understatement. My wife, now Queen Alicia, was sworn in on the Throne of Thorns in the absence of Queen Lorisanth, whose abduction could not be prevented by my cousin. It is thus with her authority I say the following, the Faedas Freehold shall join the Empire of Dawn, in gratitude and in respect for their aid and help then and now."

There was a soft murmuring in the crowd but Edward continued.

"Then, in helping my family survive, and now, in doing what is right and saving the Queen Lorisanth from the hands of the Tzaltec Empire. The members of the Faedic Order arrested by my wife the Queen have confessed to a plot to abduct the Pious Queen and take her east. The Children of Kina within our lands are said to have heard her voice from the shadows, confirming the same. My wife, the Queen, she will not stand for the abduction of her predecessor. We shall not profit from the machinations of the Tzaltec and the Emperor of Dawn agrees for the Dawn knows well the twisted methods of the Tzaltec. Thus it is with conviction and the force of Faedas and the Empire of Dawn that I make this statement before gods and men, we demand the return of Queen Lorisanth by the Tzaltec under threat of force and while I regret they are not here to hear me directly I shall have it known to them in swift order. If any are opposed, if any are in support, make themselves known for the Tzaltec have made themselves enemies of the world with their actions and they're actions shall be idly tolerated no longer."

Mellado flew into Fera on the back of Penndreth, his scales glinting pinkish gold in the sunlight. She held her 2 year old daughter, Alynda close as Penn swooped in and out of the air currents. The little Princess waved to her big sister and Daddy whenever they came into view on Jura, Penndreth's mate. there were several golden desert dragons flying with the Spriggan delegation, though a land convoy had traveled ahead, including Queen Areta and King Uialben, who had never taken to dragon riding. Mellado's eyes gleamed as she anticipated the excitement of the duels, she had just edged out Meryn in their sparring matches to gain the right to be the one who entered the contest. She smirked to herself, she had never seen him so disgruntled.

The Enclave delegation settled into their quarters and made their way to the amphitheater to watch the opening festivities, cheering for the exotic display of the Ferans, and the lighting of the bonfires, the sparks from the flames drifting up into the clear summer night sky to merge with the twinkling stars.

If any are opposed, if any are in support, make themselves known for the Tzaltec have made themselves enemies of the world with their actions and they're actions shall be idly tolerated no longer."

Silene Onerogin and his wife Lilum were in the crowd, listening. They were not surprised by the announcement. Serendel had done the most to influence the situation. They took the spoils. Still, Lilium couldn’t keep her comments to herself.

“He had to mention Loris’ call in the Darkness.” She grumped.

“It is the truth.” The Eldest Child of Kina, her husband, replied.

“He's trying to drag us into a Holy War.”

“Which our brothers and sisters in spirit are forcing upon the Queen.”

“Thrice deceived fools, every one, then.”

He placed his hand on his wife’s shoulder, thumb gently resting in the hollow of her neck. “It is their test. Khaditna preys upon their nationalism.”

Lilum spoke authoritatively, “A bull from you would command them to be quiet and accepting…” Silene’s thumb shoved hard into the soft spot along her neck, a sudden sharp pain. She stopped.

“We will NOT question the Mother’s intent.” He released his thumb. “The Chosen told us their tales. They saved lives and granted a merciful death to those who stood in the way. But, they were prevented from doing more. Mother did not allow it.”

“We are temporary beings, frozen in our times. Only Kina can see all pasts and futures.” Lilum responed by rote as she rubbed her neck. Her husband, like their mother, had not a drop of mercy within him.

Silene spoke more compassionately, “That does not excuse our floundering blindly. There is much to be understood. Meztli’s death.” Both understood that this was Silene’s main concern. The circumstances around her death were not well reported to the Children. Silene had been explcit that Meztli was not to be killed by the Chosen. Plans were in-place to deal with Meztli. The Tzaltec were not the only ones capable of bending the mind.

“We should seek out a private audience with the new Queen.”

Later in the evening well after Edward's speech Chosen Jonah Robson and his fellow Children from the Freehold made their way into the Confederacy's camp, seeking out the Eldest Child who they had heard was present. Making themselves known the small delegation approached the Eldest and his wife.

"Cousins in spirit," Jonah said a deferential nod made in respect to Silene. Next to him Janis and Chet bowed deeply. The two of them believed Silene to be a reincarnation of the Prophet, many of the Children were divided over the idea.

"It is good you are here, no doubt you heard Edward Serendel's speech?" Jonah shook his head, "Politics. An unfortunate reality for the Children in Faedas. It would be my desire to discuss the actualities of the situation. If you are available Eldest?"

Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities Delegation Arrives:
"Do you really think this is a good idea? You know it will be trouble if you are revealed here." The voice of the dwarf named Tae who looked with an unamused expression at the knight wearing a mask.

"It can't be helped! I have to try to win every event we enter. The rascal sphynks don't want to show knights in a favorable situation currently. Even if it is forbidden, I must participate." The knight muttered impatiently, flicking loose hair behind the ear with an irritated expression. The almost purple red hair seemed to match the impatient attitude. Around the waist the sword belt was worn proudly and a lance was worn on the back. The purple and blue tunic showed not only the style of a Free Knight, but also the city emblem of Verbena. Focused blue eyes can be seen through mask with strong determination. With the fresh smell of peony following closely, the young and handsome swordsman could only be a Free Knight from the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities.

"But victory is probably unlikely. Even if you worked hard after school with your father's training, you will not compare to these international athletes." Tae sighed and shook her head. Of course her experience was speaking, even if it was a pointless attempt to dissuade as they arrived at the event. Of course if she had been successful, they would not have come. "A schoolchild cannot hope to compete with the world's best."
"I'm not a child! Lady Astera of Maranta competed in the Tellurian games and performed very well. She was only two years older than me." The knight said with exasperation to the dwarf.
"Lady Astera of Maranta was as hot-headed as you. However, she also had fought in the war against Zuiguo. She had combat experience." Tae said, to remember nostalgically the friendship of past. Such was the blessing and curse of dwarf's long life. Already it was that long ago? Maybe it was on behalf of her passed away friends from that different era that she decided to come in support. Rather, the young knight had surprised her with the audacious plan and had persisted. Stupid young people! Tae reproached the leg of the knight with a gloved fist.
"I think you will find that even if you can beat me at this age, your pure skill and spirit will not win in this competition. It is stupid to compete in so many events. Especially disguising yourself. That mask may be popular with the romantics, however it will be distracting in a fight."

The knight adjusted the mask with a self-conscious expression. "I must. I want the competitors to take me seriously. Besides, chivalry is the right action and proper attitude. I can't be a coward! Always meeting the charge with a forward motion, that is chivalry." Was the explanation with a determined expression under the mask.
Tae snorted.
"You are more likely to find the situation awkward. What if the Raaneki types approach? I heard some stories about their attitudes at that time. Before the republics, or what their situation is now."
The knight froze in position.
"I don't know. What should I do?" The panicked question.
"Shouldn't you just think about your chivalry at that time?" Tae responded with a rueful sigh. "You aren't very different from Commelina at that time. So remember that compliment with confidence, Paeon."
The young knight adjusted the cloak over the chest.
"Well spoken! I will remember that, Lady Tae. If I hope to become Grandmaster, I will show my spirit, here!" With the patter of boot, Paeon adjusted the mask and walked into the crowds.

The Feran Arts Display

"It's... really nice." a Masked One with bright blue markings hunched their shoulders as they looked at the painting only a Haljan could have thought was the best entry for the Arts Contest. "Yes... It is..." the Masked One next to them lowered their absinthe-green tipped ears, seemingly intent on watching their strange round hooves. Despite clearly trying to avoid notice, the Masked Ones still towered over most of those present. At full height they were surely close to twice the height of a human. The crowd around them glanced at the painting before moving on; a statement to how interesting the painting was to human eyes. An Yslynd with short grey fur and a long tail tipped with white fur beamed as he noticed the pair of Masked Ones.

"I'm going to duel for Fer- Hey!" his large dark eyes fell on the painting. "What are you looking at? Why is there no blue? It could replace that grey there. And that grey looks... Shouldn't that be red instead? I see what it should be, but..."
"It looks very realistic to a Haljan, Eryan. I see how it made it to the finals, but..."
"The team of judges for the finals don't have any Haljans, as they see different colours to humans. So, it would be unfair even though Haljans had to judge some of the others because of the volume of entries."
Eryan paused, "Oh... This is our entry in the finals?" he looked at it sideways, "It looks good!"

The Masked Ones merely nodded.

"I highly recommend seeing Calorum's Arts Display as well." Nyk casually mentioned to a cluster of Griuhna Haljans who were visibly trying to decide whether this meant the judges had scored them well or not. Eventually, they decided the recommendation likely didn't necessarily mean they had considering it was coming from a Kardiloss. Even though Nyk was a Visyknin, they still had great difficulties around fire and bright lights.

Curious now, the Haljans began to make their way through the crowds toward Calorum's fire dance.

If any are opposed, if any are in support, make themselves known for the Tzaltec have made themselves enemies of the world with their actions and their actions shall be idly tolerated no longer."

A strange voice could be heard from the crowd. It was close enough to a human voice to be understood but resembled more the harsh tones of a cicada (https://youtu.be/mah26og11ms?t=15s). "Fera bears no love for the Slavers, the Tzaltec Empire. I know not the opinion of the Kaiser, but I'd think your grievances more than reasonable. I know not what occurs in the East, but cannot assume this is the entire story. I doubt your nation would have provoked such extreme action from them without us hearing of this?" Fauratan Thuidans Waithja Farsjomas Eorl made his way through the crowd toward the Speaker as he spoke with his heavy Feran accent. Despite standing more than a full head shorter than most humans, he held himself with a dignity that more than made up for it. His sleek black scorpion-like body was unchanged by the passage of time, but the pale lizard-like skin of his upper torso was not. Judging by the ornate Scythe he held however, it would seem the old Haljan (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?351078-Empire!-The-Lands-of-Telluris-%28the-fluff-beyond-the-crunch%29&p=19246886#post19246886) still had at least a little strength left in him. Clicking his left pincer a few times rapidly, Fauratan lowered the tips of his antennae, "It would be so easy to remain neutral, were the Tzaltec Empire not on our doorstep as well. Have you any other news for those of us so far away of misdeeds in the East?" Though his voice and body language were too alien for humans not used to Haljans to read, it was clear by his words that Fauratan was displeased.

"Of course. But we should retire to my pavillion."
The group made its way into the field where many of the athletes and guests made their home. Silene's tent was a simple affair of un-dyed canvas. Inside was a public area with a statue of Kina. An expert might note it was the very one comissioned by Queen Fern herself, decades ago. Past the wooden dividers, a small common area of low tables and cushions was arranged. Olive-oil lamps burned low, creating an aromatic, shadowed room. Silene setteled in as Lilium arranged for tea.

"We are free to speak here. No one but our fellow siblings can hear." He explained. "I will share what I know, but first I must know the truth of the matter. How did Meztli die?"

Arts Contest Entry: For the Seventh Tellurian Games, the Caramel Kingdom has created a simpler art display more inline with the other artistic features presented by the other empires. A framed painting of abstract art is set for all to see within the Caramel Kingdom's booth. The abstract art depicts a gradient color scale of mixed textures of the color caramel with a violet vertical line featuring its own gradient and textures. The painting is titled "Free Your Mind" after Freeform's Heraldry Banner.

The Arrival of the Great Sharixian Republic

The Great Sharixian Republic arrived aboard the royal airship — a new contrivance made for the royal family. The envelope was white, the bright yellow star of Sharixian royalty emblazoned in the middle on both sides, while the long gondola that hugged its underside was black. Gently, the great airship came to a stop at the end of one of the long docks jutting from the landing pad near the Fjarskad Amphitheatre. From it marched the royal family.

In front was Queen Lacantha, resplendent in yellow furs and obsidian ornamentation, her head uncovered, the 'cold' of Feran summer biting into her flesh. Following by her side was her husband, King-Consort Harkuf similarly dressed in resplendent yellow furs, but cut in a more distinctly Tzaltec style that showed a significant amount of skin. Following behind the royal couple came the Queen's brother and sister, Princess Jaxerto and Prince Jaxar. The Princess followed her sister's example, but covered her head as is more normal for the Sharix. The Prince, as he had at the Grand Ball, wore black and white furs (a sight far more common for the uncommon Sharix travelling abroad than a prince). Behind them all came the extraordinarily venerable King-Father Tharixeen dressed in in yellow furs and obsidian ornamented, though unlike his prior appearance at the Tellurian Games his head was covered. Surrounding them were a variety of attendants, each of which followed a different member of the royal family, and were dressed in yellow and white furs with no obsidian ornamentation.

Following the royal party came Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha, dressed in unadorned, formal all-black furs, her head, like the Queen's, uncovered. By her side, holding her attention, was Ravuia Andique, Minister of Foreign Affairs. She was dressed in the same manner as the Prime Minister, but like the rest of the parliamentary party her head was covered. Behind them came Mixira Angifer, First Secretary of State, and Jaxery Yadicus, Minister of Finance. Trailing behind, as miserable as he had been at the Grand Ball, came Jaxiny Shamir, Minister of Defense.

After both parties had disembarked, the various women and men who would compete in the games left the airship, all Sharix, and all dressed in the black and white furs of Sharix abroad. Then, with all the 'important' people had left, those saddled with the jobs of erecting the Sharixian camp near the Fjarskad Amphitheatre disembarked.

At the Speech of King-Consort Edward

While at first only young Prince Jaxar was there to watch the speech, it wasn't long before the Queen, her husband, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Defense was there, listening. Significant looks were exchanged (as significant as a look can be when your face is covered by fur), but beyond that none of them so much as moved a muscle. Once the speech was over though, the Prime Minister and her ministers retreated to the white Sharixian tents. The Queen, her husband, and the Prince dispersed on their own.

"Does the Prophet not know? I had thought surely the Mother's Most Chosen would have been informed by our Matron," Parivo Kivizik interjected before Jonah could respond.

Chet and Janis looked shocked and offended as they looked over at the other Child who just shrugged and smiled as he took a cup of tea and looked around.

"We have only heard rumors," Jonah answered the Eldest, ignoring his fellows, "The Serendels, they did something. Used their allies to come together with a coalition large enough to oppose the Tzaltec assassins. But they didn't just prevent it, they diverted them. Used the Unmarked themselves to kill Meztli somehow by glamering her to look as though she was their target. We have looked into the matter and believe the Union of Radurjic Republics and their Illuminator magicians may have been involved."

Jonah paused to accept the tea the Eldest's wife had prepared with a grateful nod and sip.

"That is just what happened though, where we are now is something else entirely. You and I are both aware of the Blessing and connection the Varinel twins have with the Mother and you are no doubt as aware as any Queen Lorisanth is the more devout of the two. She has been kind to the growth of the Children and our influence within the policies of the Freehold. Tzalteclan, an enemy of the Mother but political ally of Kyria was shunned by Queen Lorisanth, efforts to grow the presence of the Children abroad have been constantly pushed forward and wonders made in Her image and honor. The new Queen, Alicia, she is all but a puppet for the family of her husband. She would not risk turning our lands from the Mother but she pays lip service only to Kina and I fear she would be as likely to turn from the Call in favor of political expediency as much as Queen Kyria if only to different benefactors."

"I know well the lessons of the Call, the self reliance all must learn and live on but you no doubt heard the call made by Queen Lorisanth. She has put her faith in the Mother and in us as Her Children and I believe we must work to save her. Of course, I defer to your judgment Eldest."

(Bleh, sorry Reggie. I hit writers block hard on this one.)

Seneschal's Tent

"Of course, Ser. Calx, would you kindly?"

Clicking once more, the Nothokhua goes to each side of the tent and pulls a cord, causing an extra layer of cloth to roll down over the outside walls. A faint buzzing can be heard (along with the sound of the guards outside cursing) as the mantis proceeds to exit the Seneschal's living space, pulling the entry curtains tightly closed behind it. The sound is unmistakable; there are screeching crystals draped along the pavilion's exterior, though they seem to be muffled somehow.

Mrs. Alexia-Pamari herself takes a brief moment with her eyes closed, drinking in the noise and acclimating herself to it before it has any chance to cloud the words of the courtiers.

"If you would, please."

"I see." mutters the Seneschal, her worst suspicions confirmed by the news. "King Torre has already left for Tzalteclan to seek the Teotlkan's knowledge and counsel upon this matter. If only we had figured out the Esuman Conferrers early enough, perhaps I could warn him, but...no. He will have to learn this on his own."

She sits back, thinking further upon this matter. "You are correct, however. King Ghalle did not sponsor the Freehold's independence from Hurosha so that it might submit itself to the Dawn. Though this situation will be rather simpler to resolve, I think, than it would have been in the event of a successful Tzaltec plot, a proper Queen should be returned to the throne, whether that is Queen Loris or another figure without strong ties to Telluris' other great powers. If Queen Loris indeed lives, I shall make all the arrangements I can to ensure her safe return.

The Concordat is not yet dead, but I can see the color draining from its face. The Tzaltec have made it clear by their actions that they will tolerate no equal, and I fear that the King may not return. They have lived long and grown mighty at Glazfell's pleasure; we shall see how long they survive without it."

Among the crowd at the speech of the new Faedas' queen, a small Huroshan retinue watched the proceedings with great interest. Not like last time, this time they actually didn't make a show of their arrival. It was only a small retinue, but it was quite the good one. Led by Emperor Sanell himself, they only heard rumours about the situation in Faedas, and hearing them denounce Tzaltec..... let it suffice to say a lot of chuckling and cheering was done at the news.

They arrived on the Marius' Pride, the massive airship barely visible from the festival grounds. The rest of the distance was crossed on Mantidback.

The assembly was made up of Emperor Sanell Fireguard, clad in simple but very well made silken finery. On his back, a large cloak with his personal heraldry bellowed in the wind. On his hip, Nadamaru was strapped, the blade ready to be drawn at any time. The spirit that inhabited the blade could sometimes be seen floating over the Emperor's left shoulder. The Emperor would participate in the Arts, Debate and Loreweaving contests himself, determined to test his skills against the others of Telluris.

For the Engineering contest, Ambassador Eleljak of Zargrim (Yes, every ambassador of Zargrim shall be called either Eljak, Eleljak or Kenwyn) joined the Games, determined to prove that the Bucka were not to be triffled in the arts of Invention. He was clad in a long leather coat, lined with many pockets in which all manners of gizmos, trinkets and other less clear definable materials could be seen.

A team for the Mass melee and the duels was also present, consisting of Joana Airguard, her husband Li Mako and maybe most surprisingly, Minister Grïend of Alzeroth. Joana and Mako were both clad in heavy Huroshan armor, made of different interlinking part of Adamantine, Mithril and Orichalcum. Grïend on the other hand was clad in his battle gear, consisting of four huge Shintouite bracers. Grïend was also the one that would be doing the duels in honor of the Hurosha Empire, with Joana as a secondary challenger. Joana would be competing in the Aerial Display and the Flight of Stellyx, while Mako would be trying his hand at the Feran Steinar and the Caragita, trying to harness the extraordinary luck the Li's seemed to have regarding Caragitas.

A small contingent of Arches followed, each joining to participate in another challenge:

Rajik Jikson, Arche of the Waves (Together with a small contingent of sailors): Seaborne Regatta.

Korkor Korson, Arche of Steel and Knowledge: Mounted Race, Ranged Tournament.

Finally, Minister Cenhelm, one of the Naedre people of the Alzeroth Collective, would try his hand at the Vefnaub Spinne Charming.

The Chivalric Republic of United Free Cities

It was with a sense of purpose that the King-Father and his daughter the Queen went together to meet with their northern neighbor, and the closest republic to them.

Private (Wombat and Zabbarot)
It was a matter of grave importance, a matter that required the full attention of three different ministries and the Prime Minister, that brought the Sharix to the Seventh Tellurian Games. It was a matter created over twenty years ago when, through murder and threats of violence, the Sharix were bound to the Tzaltec Empire. The Sharix had remained tied to the Empire ever since, quite aware of the consequences should they attempt to disentangle themselves.

Prime Minister Tierrasha sat, patiently awaiting the arrival of their visitors. The decorations of their new 'intermediary' tent (kept cool enough for other races to visit, but warm enough for the Sharix to abandon their furs) before entering the 'main' tent (where the Sharix slept and relaxed) were in a Sharix style, obsidian this and obsidian that, but gone were the furs and black (and red). This tent was a stark white, decorated with the bright yellow sunbursts of Sharixian royalty — the 'main' tent was black, but also had the royal sunbursts. The Minister of Finance, a nervous woman, was pacing, the Minister of Defense was standing, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs sat impatiently next to the Prime Minister.

Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities Delegation Arrives:
"Do you really think this is a good idea? You know it will be trouble if you are revealed here." The voice of the dwarf named Tae who looked with an unamused expression at the knight wearing a mask. Although Tae was a dwarf, the height of the human knight

Tense anticipation coursed through Mellado's body as she awaited her turn for the duels. She stretched her long limbs into the air and turned side to side at the waist, wanting to keep her muscles warm until the match. She watched closely as the Niskovian competitor squared off against the representative from her Liege, the Kingdom of the Crimson Sea. She swung her sword in practice of a mock parry and retreated, she jumped as she realized she had backed right into another duelist, knocking them over,
"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't realize anyone else was here, are you ok? Please let me help you up", Mellado bent forward and extended her hand out to the Knight,
"I'm Princess Mellado, of the Kingdom of the Isles." She introduced herself with a self depreciating grin.

Regnum of Praeclarus

Praeclarus arrived with a small amount of fanfare. Arriving from the sea, a single Belua carried a large group of Makgrull to just outside the delegation's quarters, and then, with a brief look around, wandered back to the beach, where it promptly fell asleep.

Leading the delegation was Duc Fozik's son, Kremitz. As the Duc did not trust the surface dwellers quite as much as the previous leader of the Regnum, there was a large contingent of Preastes near Kremitz at all times. With Kremitz was his youngest sister Mizpi, who did not look happy to be here. With them, and though older, Chief Praestes U'ther was looking fit and hearty, and seemed to be looking forward to the Games. Chief Orator T'chep walked heavily on his cane these days, and when he couldn't be in the water, was usually found sitting. Orator G'gjin was seeing to the needs of the older Makgrull, so that the Chief Orator did not have to move too often.

Though not making as big of a splash this time around, Praeclarus does well enough with the games. Like always, though, the Orators are very busy, talking with as many people as possible and making friends. Noteably, they are speaking of the latest research they have completed in regards to Dream Sugar, and the Oracles within the Regnum.

Notably, the Art Contest this time around is much better. Chief Orator T'chep crafts a lovely mud sculpture, and people are actually able to discern the Makgrull shaking hands with a Human that the statue is meant to represent. It hardly takes any squinting at all, and T'chep is heard to be calling it his greatest artistic work.

The king's children watched the announcement with neutral expressions.

"Mother will not be pleased," Alfrett commented drily.

"What course we take is not her decision," Eldys said, softly. "I should speak with Edward."

"It's not mother's decision, but it is yours?"

"I have plenipotentiary powers for the duration of our stay here. I can negotiate on behalf of the kingdom."

"If you say so..."

Once the hubbub had died down, Eldys approached the Faedas lord.

Once the pleasantries were dealt with, Eldys shook his head slightly. "We find ourselves in an awkward position, my lord. If what you say is true, my grandfather's actions are reprehensible, and we have no wish to endorse them. But nor can we support any action against him in good conscience, for there are many who would say my father owes him his life and his crown. What's more, we find the actions of the Freehold itself in recent years to be troubling, flooding the Isles with missionaries against the wishes of the local government.

"If it comes to war, the Teotlkan will doubtless call for our help, and my lady mother will tell the Qeyzer to answer. If the Freehold is to continue to send missionaries to our Imperium, that will only encourage him."

A man in his mid-twenties approached the delegation from the Chivalric Republic and gave them a salute. "Greetings, friends. I have heard much of the horsemanship and jousting of your people; I am honoured to meet you at last."

Alfrett took to the duelling arena stripped to the waist, a small but delicate pattern of scars criss-crossing his chest. After so many years in the company of proud warriors, his natural skills had been honed to their utmost and he was keen to display them against any opponent who crossed his path.

When the time came to face Grïend, though, he paused for a moment. Surely this was a joke, to allow such a huge and powerful creature to compete against mere mortals and men on supposedly equal terms? Still, though, he feared nothing, and had his father not once faced down and beaten the Dunfel Cheron? He dimly recalled stories of King Eldred defeating this rock monster long ago, so perhaps it was not as fearsome as it seemed.

As the bout ended and a draw was called, he scowled slightly. He felt he had had marginally the better of the bout, but the creature's outrageous size and reach had prevented him from landing a decisive blow. Moreover, while he fought with blunted blade, the Menhirin had used the natural and unnatural protrusions of its body as weapons, any one of them capable of killing them had either of them misjudged a strike or dodge. Even a lucky - or unlucky - swipe of its great arm could have pulverised him. While he had faced death on many an occasion, he feared for the safety of some of the less skilled competitors and had no wish to see them die in the pits.

"If he is allowed to compete," he muttered to Eldys later, "I should surely be allowed to fight from Harmatis."

Eldys shrugged. He had no wish to get dragged into a vendetta of his brother's, whatever his private thoughts.

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/161/8/8/gothmog_vs_feanor_by_issachar17-d3ijr9q.jpg

The aerial display was performed by the king's three children on their dragons, each of them of the Bjurnja storm variety. Contrary to initial appearances, the two dragons most similar in size and colour were not ridden by the twins, for thanks to a quirk of chronology and Alfrett's period of fostering abroad, he had bonded with his dragon at the same time as his younger sister. In between various bouts of regular formation flying, Harmatis and Vekieris twirled in near-perfect time around Varituul, the riders using long spears of orichalcum and obsidian to arc lightning between the dragons, before finally descending to the ground to earth them safely. One of the strikes impacted within feet of Minister Grïend, and anyone watching Alfrett closely could have seen him grinning as he soared away.

As the display reached its conclusion the three riders leaped from their dragons' backs and the blue-white and purple dragons were joined for a few moments by three smaller golden ones, weaving between the storm dragons and adding gouts of bright flame to the cold, steely air. As they came in for their final approach they remounted their dragons for the landing, and arrived astride them once more, their nakedness covered only by a few hastily arranged bolts of cloth. As they dismounted to take their bows before the audience, two attendants ran forward to throw a cloak around Princess Ameryn, to her apparent annoyance, though she looked thrilled from the ride.

"As you say my lady," Tibel bowed his head, "If it would please you, I should like to send two trusted member of the Faedas court, Heartwaste natives, to Glazfell to act as courier of news between our realms? Ashana Kivizik and Jamir Fesina are loyal to the Crown of Queen Lorisanth and to Freehold independence. They are clever enough to listen but not so shrewd as to act out of line."

"If it comes to war, the Teotlkan will doubtless call for our help, and my lady mother will tell the Qeyzer to answer. If the Freehold is to continue to send missionaries to our Imperium, that will only encourage him."

Edward had stepped off the stage into a small crowding of his fellows from the Freehold who stood in a small clump off next to him as the Carmine Prince approached.

"I'm sorry to hear that Prince Eldys, but the actions of the Children-"

"The actions of the Children are not at the command of the Throne of thorns," Child Parivo Kivizik interjected, prompting stares from his fellow courtiers at his bold interruption of the King-Consort and a foreign Prince, "The local government of Sanglea kept its people oppressed and downtrodden while the Carmine Kingdom did nothing to stop it. The Call of the Mother showed those people the path to their freedom. If more choose to return the embrace of the Mother that hardly seems cause for war in an unrelated matter. "That is enough! My apologies your highness," Edward cut the Child off before he could further offend the Prince, "The Throne of Thorns may not control the Children and their preaching but I will personally those coming to speak with me are respected by those traveling with me."

"I will talk with Elder Robson about the conversions but I cannot make any promises. I do thank you for speaking with me about the issue however. My wife and I wish to try and maintain and recover the relationships respected by ourselves and our family in the Dawn."

The Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities & The Great Sharixian Republic

The Chivalric Republic of United Free Cities

It was with a sense of purpose that the King-Father and his daughter the Queen went together to meet with their northern neighbor, and the closest republic to them.
The King-Father and his daughter the Queen of The Great Sharixian Republic could find the representative of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities at a busy time of the celebrations between events. The almost purple red hair seemed unusual, however. It is often said that most of the human citizens of the Chivalric Republic had blue or green hair. Around the waist the sword belt was worn proudly, as expected of a knight. The purple and blue tunic showed not only the style of a Free Knight, but also the city emblem of Verbena. The face was obscured by a mask, however focused blue eyes can be seen with strong determination. With the fresh smell of peony following closely, the young and handsome swordsman could only be a Free Knight from the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities.
Seeming to be distracted by the event, the knight recovered from surprise to see the King-Father and Queen.
"The colors, it must be so! I am very surprised! It is an honor to meet you of the Great Sharixian Republic." The free knight politely bowed.
"I am Paeon of Verbena, a Free Knight of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities." With straightening posture, the smile below the mask seemed genuine.

The awkward clamor rang as the masked duelist hit the ground.
"My apologies!" It was the exclaimed reply as the duelist recovered sitting on the ground. Around the waist the sword belt was worn proudly, as expected of a knight. The purple and blue tunic showed not only the style of a Free Knight, but also the city emblem of Verbena. The offered hand was accepted gratefully. It seemed the duelist was very tired.
"It is an honor to meet you, Princess Mellado of the Kingdom of the Isles. I am Paeon of Verbena, a Free Knight of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities." The expression under the mask was embarrassed as Paeon stood up.
"I did not look behind me, so this awkward situation happened. Are you also a duelist, Princess Mellado?"

A man in his mid-twenties approached the delegation from the Chivalric Republic and gave them a salute. "Greetings, friends. I have heard much of the horsemanship and jousting of your people; I am honoured to meet you at last."

The salute was returned politely by the masked knight after a moment of hesitation. The smile was awkward and embarrassed.
"It is an honor to meet you! If it is horsemanship, probably you are looking for the Cree delegation. If it is jousting however, probably you are looking for the proper knights of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities."

He turned back to Edward. "Given the recent abduction of your own queen Loris by a foreign power you may have some insight into our perspective on the subject."

*Eldys is also crown prince-consort of Celero, for the record, although for the purposes of this conversation he speaks only for Sobrida.

"A pleasure to meet you, Paeon! I am dueling, yes, my second and likely last time, so I want to be prepared." Mellado went back to stretching,
"Is this your first time at the Games? I hear the Free Cities are lovely, though I haven't had the chance to visit them yet, hopefully I'll take my daughters someday so they can see the peonies and rainbows!"

"The news I bear I have presented in its fullest gracious host," Edward said with a bow to the Haljan, "The Tzaltec have kidnapped a rightful monarch of the Freehold and tried to kill nobles in our lands to advance their own plot and raise those owing loyalty to the Tzaltec royal family above into positions of power where they might exert control through them."

Eldys turned his dark eyes onto Parivo for a moment, his expression otherwise blank, before looking back towards Edward. "I thank you for your understanding, lord king. Parivo smiled a dismissive and venomous pleasant smile but said nothing as Edward responded to the Prince, "Certainly we can understand. I shall endeavor to do what I can to ensure continued pleasantry between Faedas and Carmine."

"Friends, Hurosha." a strange young Haljan approached the retinue. His Scythe was ornate and distinctive, marking him as a Thuidans despite being a Muruzaik Haljan. Some of the Huroshans may recognise him as the new Kaiser of Fera, Aglus Thuidans Leikeis Kaiser. His purple spines were waistlength and his slightly avian face bore a friendliness most Haljans were not capable of. "Welcome to Fera for the first time. I hope it will not be the last!"

Alfrett took to the duelling arena stripped to the waist, a small but delicate pattern of scars criss-crossing his chest. After so many years in the company of proud warriors, his natural skills had been honed to their utmost and he was keen to display them against any opponent who crossed his path.

Even a lucky - or unlucky - swipe of its great arm could have pulverised him. While he had faced death on many an occasion, he feared for the safety of some of the less skilled competitors and had no wish to see them die in the pits.

The Duels

"That was vehr impressive!" an excited voice came from the crowd, "I forfeited my match against him! No way, nope, nah, no, nu, why do they even let such a tall, err... fat being compete? I can not win with no weapon, so why risk it?" The speaker was a rather small fellow who wore not a thread of clothing. Perhaps considering the long black spines tipped with white he could be excused; besides, there was nothing offensive visible anyway. The strange being was disturbingly human looking despite the spines on his back and cream fur everywhere else. Even though the spines on top of his head stood straight up, he still wasn't quite chest height.

"Someone from the crowd shouted 'That is not prowess!'. I don't know what prowess means or who yelled it, but they sounded disappointed of all things!" the little Yslynd scowled, "I asked why the duels were so stacked and why the Haljans didn't fight instead. Apparently, these Games are bigger than just Fera and it would be unfair to deny people a chance to duel now when they never was before. But, then, the Haljans don't fight anyone because they naturally have poison! Pfah!" The little fellow threw his hands up in the air. It was difficult not to find his frustration at least a little amusing.

Edward's Speech

"Fera thanks you for bringing this news to us." Fauratan always found human gestures difficult so he merely inclined his head with respect toward the speaker, "Of course my hope is that it will not come to war. It is a shame that now we cannot trust the Tzaltec Empire even a little, given this news." Fauratan looks south and clicked his pincers a few times slowly. Maur lay over the mountains to the South. Once a conqueror who threatened the highly cultured Alzeroth, then a beaten entity desperate for an ally. Now, a more significant entity thanks to the same Commonwealth they had betrayed. The Ash-Kingdom of Maur, vassal to the ones who would attempt such a grab for power.

As though their murder of sapient beings in the name of their false religion during the war was not disgusting enough.

The Feran Camp

"Yes, alcohol is good for us! Yes, we are not as well without it, as clearly others like the Niskans and Humans and Favn make their own alcohol inside their bodies! So of course we need to drink it, they don't. But!" the Leikjos had attracted quite a crowd by this point, "I stand before you today to enlighten you; too much alcohol is poison to us! Yes, a slow acting poison, shutting down our bodies piece by piece just like everyone else! It starts with your brain, you see. All-" the Haljan was interrupted by an angry blow to the head the Zirndar Haljans could not prevent.

Attempting to preach moderation when it comes to alcohol in Fera was clearly more immediately dangerous to one's life than too much alcohol.

"A sentiment I believe more and more are beginning to share," Edward agreed with a solemn nod.

"I think perhaps they are simply taken aback. Throughout history those who have opposed them have failed, their plans have always come to fruition despite the best efforts of more noble minds. The orchestration of the Sunset War, the ritual sacrifice of a reincarnated Mosi, in all these things and more they have met no force to match or cow them. In this instance they have failed," Jonah mused.

"It would be unwise of them to seek war, certainly against the Children but if you are right, will the Children answer a call for crusade? The last time a prominent Child was killed for the personal aspirations of royals abroad the Jeweled Cities were thrown into civil war between those advocating such response and those resisting. It has been many years since, but can we know if the Children will march to save their own? Neither the Children in the Confederacy nor those in the Freehold command armies directly, can we rely on the faith of the secular leaders to see us through?"

OOC: Totally off the wall and probably very long-term plan if it can even be called that but how would you feel about a religious coup in the Confederacy and the Freehold at some point and the formation of a theocratic empire? The Eldest serving as mechanical emperor and being a totally religion driven state in laws and the like? Probably something for when Kyria takes the throne and starts rubbing the Children the wrong way so about 25 years/5 rounds from now. Idea just occurred to me so I thought I'd see if you were interested. If we get more people into the Kina boat (Logic?) we could even do it with more folks.

The UJR came quietly to the Games, at least when compared to many. No vast fortress of the sky, no dragons, simply a pair of beautiful ships hoisted into the sky by envelopes of air. Qarimos construction one, Genivanan another, swinging below silk and propelled by gossamer sails alike to the swift Senatorial schooners. There was nothing quite like them in all the world, for all that they were slower than the Seaborne Confederation's ingenious Skyships. The woven canvass shimmered silver in the steadying wind, catching even the slightest breeze and making more of it than silk or cotton had ever done.

The airships moored together, and as they descended towards the field the names stenciled onto the wood of their hulls became clear. The Qarimosi vessel had been named Unity, whilst her Genivanan sister had taken a title that did not translate well from Radurjic script. The easiest translation was People's Voice, but it meant more than that. A twofold promise, from and to the one's who were granted the right to speak in the name of others in the Republics. It was perhaps fitting, then, that it was not simply those of the UJR aboard.

In year 536 of the common calendar - the Raaneki one was rather different - Republican merchant sailors in the Sea of the Golden Sun had been hailed by creatures from beneath the waves. Initially thinking them part of the Regnum of Praeclarus, although some of the more informed among them attempted to point out that none of the Regnum's races looked quite like these - the merchants conducted several small trades with them before moving on. It was only several weeks later, when a group of the same beings appeared in one of the harbours of Grizzland requesting - if a little brokenly - to speak to the local leaders, that the more informed sailors were proven right.

Although relations got off to an initially rocky start - the use of the word Slave in societal explanations had put many on edge when first used - reasoned conversation had led to a greater understanding and tentative acceptance. Although it was still the opinion of a great many Senators that...improvements might be made, they also accepted the limitations of reality. As did, in surprising number, the citizenry once the situation was fully explained. Transparency had become a powerful watchword since the federation of Raaneka and its associated territories, and so here it was held to rigorously.

Yet despite their reservations, when the motion was made to offer the Cephalo’Di transport to the Tellurian Games, it was met with much support. For all that there were those worries, Cealophytes were very much likeable creatures. The farmers of Grizzland and Genivana had taken interest in the possibility of supplying their people with more varied foodstuffs that would fit their diet, yet their interest was a pale thing compared to the sudden explosion of joy from the weavers (and Weavers) in Nyroth at the prospect of a new and comparatively close trading partner. And surely a race who could appreciate and celebrate beauty - and see much similarity in it - was one that they could be friends with?

So the offer had been sent, and the High Lord of their people had accepted it. The Republics were well aware, though, of the possible difficulties of attending such a vast event, and so had done all they could to ease the journey - and their time there. The People's Voice had been modified in advance with several new rooms entirely coated in Mahaki Jana membrane and then filled with water. It did...some interesting things to her mass and manoeuvrability, but several Mtambuzi had confirmed that the calculations saying it would be safe. And they'd even had a few weeks to run trials before they left. So the Cephalo’Di delegation travelled in personal comfort, and could rest in an environment much like their own - if rather higher up than they were used to.

The People's Voice actually landed on the field set aside for them, to better allow their guests to disembark, whilst the Unity moored above her. The UJR's art piece had also been transported aboard the Genivanan craft, so it was simpler all around.

Theta Thel’sor Second Spawn of the High Lord stood in a small tent a ‘short’ distance from the large ship that had brought them here. Her two guards found the walk from the ship considerably easier than her, but they were used to using their tentacles for grappling. In contrast walking was only taught four times a month for her, but she had taken time on the voyage here to practice and had gracefully failed to make a scene crossing from the ship.

Her purple skin covered by a Nyrothi short dress, her head tentacles held up in a bun with her mother’s gold band. Her two guards wore little, kelp rope bindings holding a few water skins and their blue gray spears, both blue skinned as was common in the High Lord’s guard. She always thought her father favored blue guardsmen since they brightened the house so well.

The tent was blessedly dim and let her open her outer lids, while the glowing of the three sent interesting light patterns on the tent walls. She held the speaking conch in her hand lightly as she awaited the representatives from Praeclarus and Huroshan, which with luck the UJR messenger had relayed their request for a meeting clear enough for them to understand.

She heard the steady tone of one of her guards finding his voice before it vibrated his words. “Do you think they will come?”

“I can only hope, the ship captain told me that they were the closest leaders to our boarders. Let’s hope also they are willing to talk peacefully as the others have.”

“I can only hope, the ship captain told me that they were the closest leaders to our boarders. Let’s hope also they are willing to talk peacefully as the others have.”

A messenger arrived for Praeclarus, with some unusual information. With everyone else out watching or participating in the Games, the person with the highest ranking in the Regnum's quarters turned out to be just the right Makgrull to speak with.

Chief Orator T'chep wasn't walking as much. It wasn't that walking pained him, but moving was certainly becoming increasingly unpleasant. He didn't understand how U'ther - five years T'chep's senior - was able to move and even fight these days, when his own bones creaked and popped when he stood up. If he hadn't fallen in love with walking the surface under Uncle Sky, T'chep probably would remain in the water and let the younger G'gjin handle things.

This, though, T'chep had decided, was probably his last great event for Telluris. He'd really started doing things with the Fifth Tellurian Games... or was it the Fourth? T'chep frowned, feeling that now even his memory was starting to give. No. No, it was the fifth games, because the Makgrull were not even out in the surface world till the common calender year 500.

Sighing at his dwindling memory, T'chep grabbed at his staff, and stood up. Sure enough, his knees creaked, and he felt something in his wrist pop a little. It was momentarily unpleasant, but it passed. He waved away Orator G'gjin. This was something he'd handle himself. With a smile on his face, T'chep walked his way towards the docks, and the tents that were just a short jaunt from them. A little strut in his step, T'chep smirked at the idea of going for a swim after this business was concluded.

If everything went well, he'd have earned it.

Theta's tent was at first tricky for T'chep to find. Enough people, though, had seen the strange race of beings come off the ship and into the tent. The few that T'chep spoke with jokingly asked if it was yet another underwater race that Praeclarus would introduce to the world. He smirked at them, and shook his head, while thanking them for the proper directions.

Upon approaching, he paused, momentarily thinking to himself how to approach this. He decided on complete honesty.

"Hello the tent. I am Chief Orator T'chep, highest political speaker for the Regnum of Praeclarus. I understand that you were looking to talk with us. May I come in?"

I will try to RP as much as I can, but because of the short amount of time left in the round, and the fact that I'm busy with school these next few days, would you mind sending me a PM or including an OOC for what you're hoping we can accomplish here?

Silene nodded happily. "I will issue a formal request that the Queen be freed and returned to her people. The Freehold can decide who should rule once that happens. As far as a crusade...." Silene paused and took a sip of tea. "I believe the Mother has shared the Queen's plea as a test of our resolve. Each must look within and understand why they would rise up, or why they would not. It is a choice they will answer for before Khadi." His tone changed from authoritative and scholarly to more personal and earnest. "For me personally, it is clear. Day 1 - the Evening of the Revelry

Late in the afternoon a pair of ironclads buzzed the Feran Camp. The crowd easily realised whose airships these were - the Luftus Nochenwaurm escort combined with a rather prominent House Nisakovich flag being an obvious sign that the official Niskovian delegation had finally arrived. Perhaps even the Grand Prince himself was aboard? For where else but Fera could possibly be safer for any member of the Commonwealth's Royal House? Soon enough the foreign vessels were settling into moorings at the Airship Landing Pad and a group had disembarked via basket lift without any great ceremony. They had come from the airship displaying House Nisakovich colours and were heading into the Feran Camp.

It didn't take long for a few keen-eyed watchers to start spreading the news - there at the head of the delegation was Grand Prince Zoran! Who else could it have been? The vibrant red hair typical of House Nisakovich; slight build and graceful movements and traditional Niskan dress. Plus, by his side walked Leni Nisakovich. It was well known that the former co-duelling champion had never married, thus this was all the confirmation anyone needed that the elusive Sovereign was finally making a public appearance.

"A decade studying at an Ashenite University and five years of holding the reigns did not prepare me for this at all," Zoran whispered to Leni, "my Haljan is rusty and I still haven't memorised those profiles cousin Kazimir gave me on likely attendees yet."

Leni sighed, "Speaking Haljan is what cousin Brankica is here for, and anyone seeking audience with you will likely introduce themselves."

Meanwhile, the entourage following the cousins were studiously not listening to the conversation.

"Besides, don't you think Kazimir would be here holding your hand if he thought that you weren't ready?" she said, in an attempt to be comforting. "if all else fails, just pretend that they're all stuffy Ashenite academics."

'I'm being ridiculous and making a fabulous impression on the loyal citizens even,' Zoran thought to himself, "Right-"

But he was interrupted by a member of his entourage. Said individual was his fifth cousin Brankica Korošec. The half-Karranan was already proving to have a gift with languages just like their mutual cousin Kazimir and had recently entered into something of an apprenticeship with him.

"Please excuse the interruption Your Serene Highness, but I have just overhead the most intriguing rumour from one of the Kardiloss." she said, "I won't go into details, but it seems Fauratan Thuidans Waithja Farsjomas Eorl has been looking for you."

Unsaid was the fact that the Eorl was someone the Grand Prince should definitely make time to meet.

Somehow the Grand Prince managed to resist the urge to sigh. "Do you have a lead on his whereabouts?" he asked instead.

His distant cousin nodded. 'Just like Kazimir,' he realised, 'however will I survive with two of them herding me?'

"Lead on then," was all he said in reply.

As he followed the red and yellow clothed figure into the crowd, a sidelong glance at Leni revealed that she was just smirking at him.

Jonah nodded at the Eldest's words, "A child learns from their choices and the consequences of choice. To rob choice is to rob a child of learning and there is no greater sin," the Elder Child recited a piece of writing, not from the Call itself but from a well regarded commentary on the teachings of the Mother written by his father.

"I agree, there will be a reckoning and I do not doubt the Queen Lorisanth will agree as well. We will have to examine the Queen when she is returned to the Freehold to ensure she is as she was before but if it can be assured she will no doubt return to the Throne of Thorns and the Queen Alicia shall step aside. At least, she will if she understands her position in this matter."

OOC: I understand that. It was kind of an impromptu thought, though I think there may be something to it. I'll move to PMs just to ensure security in conversation.

Alfrett chuckled. "I suspect 'large' is the word you're looking for... although perhaps he is a bit out of shape. If only I knew the answer! I suspect it is out of some perverse desire not to hurt his feelings, or those of his people. Hurting the bones and organs of his opponents seems to suffice for them... though I wonder, if such a formidable creature is allowed to compete whether any should object were my great-grandfather to take to the arena in his true form.

"I should pay no regard to catcalls. I am unsure of the meaning of 'Prowess' myself, for it seems to change depending on the speaker, but for some Huroshans at least it seems it is the height of Prowess to set a monster against a man and applaud its victory." He shook his head slightly. "There is no shame in having the sense to know when one is overmatched. I am amazed there have been no serious injuries."

Mellado had been searching for Alfrett ever since his match ended, She finally spotted him speaking with what she believed to be Feran natives.
"Alfrett, there you are!" She spoke familiarly to the man, though she performed a respectful cross armed salute.
"I thought for sure the decision was going to go your way, I still can't believe it ended in a draw!" Mellado was seething with indignation, thinking ahead to her own match with the veritable giant made butterflies cavort in the pit of her stomach. She realized she hadn't acknowledged Alfrett's companions,
"Oh forgive me! The duels get me so worked up, I don't believe I've had the pleasure of speaking to many of the Games's natives." Mellado grinned at her own competitiveness and shook her head ruefully.

The Speech

Fauratan's entire body tensed briefly; body language universal among most creatures.
The Nisakovichs...

Excusing himself with what he thought was impeccable human manners, Fauratan swiftly turned and left. He subtly clicked a code with his pincers rapidly a few times to the females around him. As he and most of his companions moved one way, a couple of Zirndar Haljans moved in others to meet with strategically placed Spaiha. A few said Spaiha requested a series of Visyknin groups included certain phrases in Common which do not translate well into Niskan; it seemed the best way to get their attention.

Why else would Lorvyn still bother asking for reports from the Spaiha?

The Evening before the Day of Revelry
The Feran Camp - The Niskan Retinue

Fauratan Thuidans Eorl appeared soon after the Niskans decided to find him. For those not used to Haljans, one might believe Fauratan and the Haljans who surrounded him to be ready to do battle with the Niskans rather than merely on edge. They moved as predators when they have their eyes on their pre; smoothly, silently and with purpose. Despite his eyes being a solid black, there was no doubt the Haljan's piercing gaze was focused on the Grand Prince.

<Could we have a few words? In private.> Fauratan's insect voice lacked any pretense of manners or even recognition of the assorted Niskans' status. Whether deliberate or not, he was speaking in Fera's dominant language; Haljan, <It is important.> The translator(s) may find it interesting and/or inconvenient that he spoke in the Griuhna Haljan dialect.

Theta heard the voice from outside and nodded to her guards who took a rigid stance on either side of her. Holding her speaking conch to her lips her voice found its tone before the odd surface words would form. The shell echoed the steady tone first then the softly spoken words around the tent, and she hoped through the walls. "Please come in it is and honor to meet with a fellow of the deep."

After the Orator had entered she gave him a slight bow adjusting her height to match his. Her guards mimicking the action without taking their eyes off the new comer. Placing the shell to her lips once again as her tone filled the space, "I am Theta Thel'sor the second spawn of the High Lord Lachlan Thel'sor, speaker for Cephalo’Di at this event. On behalf of my father I hope our people can become friends in the deep."

She knew surface races seemed to like sitting and had chairs brought in to accommodate them, gesturing to one she offered him a seat.

"Praeclarus is always looking for new friends within Mother Sea. I wish I could speak at length to you about our leader, Duc Fozik, but all I can say is that the man is so curious about the regions that he leads, he has taken it upon himself to spend the past seven years travelling from one to another, to better understand them. I have met the man but once."

"What I can tell you is that he is honorable, and listens to the wisdom of his elders... but only so much as they continue to speak wisdom. Which, thankfully, is often." T'chep grins, his mouth opening a little to reveal the round molars of each tooth. "What else I can tell you is that the Makgrull of Praeclarus started as but a small region, and then met others like ourselves. And then we encountered the Malleus, then the Belua. We are used to the many friends that Mother Sea can provide. And that says nothing about any of the friends we have made from other nations."

"Though it is something of a surprise to see you hear, I'd heard at least a rumor about you. The Malleus of Barathrum told us they had received an envoy from a new nation. I was to be headed there after the Games to see for myself, but I am glad you are here. Saves me the trip!"

"Theta Thel'sor, though I know not the ways of your people, I know the ways of many others, and I've been an Orator for a long time. The one truth I know is that: I still make mistakes. If I, in any way, misspeak or offend you, please let me know, for that is not my intention. What I am getting at is this... I would be remiss in my duties if I did not make at least an effort and an offer to you to join together with the Regnum of Praeclarus. All we seek is peace within Mother Sea, and with so many creatures within Telluris, it's much more peaceful to make friends."

Yes, T'chep is asking if you want to be one of the regions under the control of Praeclarus. No, Gengy does not expect a "yes" on this. In fact, that's pretty much impossible by the rules of the game. But it's T'chep's job: If a new region that is underwater is discovered, and the people appear friendly, try and talk them into joining the Regnum.

He's not trying to be insulting, he's just doing his duty.

Gengy expects a "no thank you" and then something like "but we could be trading partners". Exact phrasing is up to you, Dracolon. Or heck, be insulted, throw T'chep out; I don't control you :smalltongue:

Mellado hoisted the Knight to their feet, an amused grin on her face,
"A pleasure to meet you, Paeon!

The expression of Paeon was sheepish and obscured by the mask. The sword and belt were checked carefully and then the proper bow shown to Mellado.
"Yes, the rainbows and peonies are very beautiful. I very much recommend you visit! Every summer we have a popular festival, called Midsummer Knight's Festival. You should visit at that time!" Then there was a sudden surprised reaction.
"Wait, just a minute."
"Did you say 'daughters'? You are a mother?" Paeon asked, the surprise cannot be hidden by a mask.

Many of them were strange and new to her. But 'join together' could have a lot of meanings, best if she watched her words careful to not mislead elder.

"You honor us with your interest, but I am not at liberty do more then sign treaties relating to peace, trade or protection." With a nod to her side the guard on her left set aside his spear and grabbed a covered tray. Holding it out he removed the cover to display the contents. First a large tooth of glowing Lu'Sindra fungus in a vibrant blue shade, second, a strong rope woven from Chorda Kelp, and third, a lump of Anju’Tellurium just smaller then a balled fist.

"Speaking of trade, a gift for you. These are samples of our main goods." She allowed him time to look over the offer, as she continued puzzling out the meaning of 'Malleus of Barathrum'.

Fauratan Thuidans Waithja Farsjomas Eorl - airship captain, one time Kaiser and now Eorl of Fræzeid. A being that made the acquaintance of several of Zoran's own cousins and outlived them all. It was a little intimidating really. And there he was, barely ten minutes after the Grand Prince had become aware that the Haljan was seeking him.

'Haljans... always showing up just when you realise you need one. How do they do that?' Zoran wondered silently. Well with his quest for the Document Spirit on hold indefinitely, pondering the mysteries of Ferans would at least be a good substitute.

With Brankica by his side providing a more accurate translation than Zoran's own interpretation, the Grand Prince soon responded.

"Of course," he said in stilted Haljan, "You have somewhere in mind yes?"

Brankica winced, 'That pronunciation needs work.'

Chancellor Bozhidar Iron Glaive was an easy man to spot. He was heavy set and broad even by orcish standards, and somehow despite his great height seemed to be equally wide. To top it off this tremendous bulk was wrapped in a clean cut Nyrothi suit. Gone were the half pants and buckled shoes that had been in style only ten years prior, replaced by long pants and slick black boots. The suit was black with the exception of a pale yellow shirt that paired well with his dark green skin.

He bowed respectfully, but maintained eye contact as he entered the Sharixian tent. "I recieved word that you wished to meet with me, Mrs. Prime Minister. I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long," he said while looking around the room. He took a moment to adjust his tie. "I was told the matter was urgent."

The Duels

Ylo scowled lightly, "I'm not sure calling him 'monster' or 'it' is okay. Still, 'Prowess' isn't good if it means what you say. It's like being proud of cheating?"

When Mellado approached, Ylo was thinking about leaving the two be when he realised she would also be dueling. When she addressed him he grinned, "Well, even in Fera there aren't many of us and we don't travel a lot. I'm an Yslynd. There are over a million Haljans in Fera; I think there are almost more Haljans here today than there are Yslynd in the world!" Ylo tapped his chin thoughtfully for a moment, "I don't know much about the rest of the world, but the Ferans drew pictures to go with their schedules to help people who don't speak the Trade Tongue or Haljan. Are you the duelist from... the Kingdom of the Isles?"

The Feran Camp - The Niskan Retinue

Fauratan continued to watch the Grand Prince as he spoke a few phrases of Haljan in a dialect common to foreigners and similar enough to most Haljan dialects, but still somehow difficult to understand when spoken with a Niskan accent for those unused to it. What didn't help was that a click was in the wrong spot, entirely changing the tone of the question. "Yes, there are private halls in the Farskjad Amphitheatre." Fauratan replied in imperfect but understandable Niskan. "It would seem other foreigners aren't keen to book any quite yet. My mates, their friends and your retinue should be enough to ensure the appropriate level of security."

As the group made their way toward the Amphitheatre, a few Haljans joined them until there were a quarter as many Haljans as there were Niskans. As they reached the Amphitheatre, small groups of Haljans left to take their places. Most of the Ferans were celebrating or sleeping by this stage, leaving the halls almost empty except for the group. Before entering the hall, Fauratan took a torch from beside the door conscious of the Grand Prince's vision. He'd selected one of the halls with a fireplace and plenty of torches so lighting would be adequate if it would make the Grand Prince more comfortable. The hall itself had a long oval shaped table decorated with abstract art in blacks and browns. A few simple chairs had been brought from Pirate's Rest and Treasure cove and stood neatly against the far wall. The floor was of the finest Haljan stone, which made Fauratan feel a little more secure as he began to light a few of the torches around the room. It takes quite a bit more than a few torches to set rocks of this sort on fire.

Sanell, haven gotten the message from the UJR, approached the tent, Joana and Mako at his side.

"Greetings, friends. May Prowess forever yours to possess. I am Shinguard Sanell Fireguard of the Hurosha Empire. I recieved the letter send by your people through hands of the UJR. May I come in?"

In case we don't have enough time to RP this out properly (I have some time tomorrow to put maybe 2 or 3 posts in), what about we trade Dearg Sreang for that metal you have? Dearg Sreang is basically alchemical seaweed, and also counts as a food resource.

Sanell, turning around, smiled a genuine smile.

"Thanks you, Aglus Thuidans Leikeis Kaiser. I certainly hope that it will not be our last, no. The lands of Fera have a mysterious beauty about them. I am quite intrigued. And your people are as wise as the lands are mysterious. But I digress. Are you enjoying the festivities set in your lands, Kaiser of Fera?"

Yo man, I'll be accepting the treaty in case we do not get any more time to RP a bit. I have some time tomorrow to get some posts in, but in case we don't make it, I am just telling you this way.

OOC: Sorry for the inactivity guys, deadline of thesis is coming up. I'll finish these asap.

During the event, the Seaborne Confederation passes around the following resolution. It details their actions in response to the Tzaltec / Faedas issue:

To all Rulers of Lands across Telluris, greetings!

The Seaborne Confederation Congress wishes to address the political situation in Faedas. It bears similar, disturbing, parallels to a dark period of our own past. We believe that the lessons of that dark period should be shared with the world, so that none other may have to suffer similar tribulations.

In last decades of the third century, the religious Quill had joined their fortunes to the sea-faring Islanders of the Jeweled Cities. Under the leadership of Regina Amber Grant, the Ancestral Quill Unification Alliance prospered. But the prosperity was unevenly distributed. Tar, and the Quill, received only the smallest portions of the wealth. Regina Grant did not heed their call for expanding their religion, nor expand their economy. Eventually the rift between secular and religious, Islander and Quill, grew so great that a violent revolution occurred.

The revolution was seen by other sovereigns as regicide, a violation of the rights of kings. Their reaction was swift and violent, and resulted in the death of the person they held responsible for the actions. But that was not the end. That action triggered a civil war. Thousands of innocent men and women perished as various factions vied for control and power. Villages burned, ships were sunk. The violence spilled over into port towns across the Sea of the Golden Sun; dark, violent murders in the shadows. It is a period we now look back upon with shame.

The parallels with the situation in the Faedas Freehold present disturbing similarities. The conflict between secular and religious aspects of a society; a violent revolution with unintended consequences and loss of innocent lives; and outrage from sovereigns who are intimately connected to the situation. We urge all involved to learn from the lessons of our past. Violence and warfare only beget more violence and warfare. The very society you struggle over will be rent and torn beyond recognition.

To the leadership of Tzatec Empire, we entreat you to return Queen Lorisanth to her people. Your interference in what should be an internal matter only worsens the situation. Like the Jarrow of old, you may earnestly feel that your actions are the best for all concerned. But as our history shows, the unintended consequences of those actions can undo all you hoped to accomplish. Allow the Freehold to determine their own path.

To other regents around Telluris, we simply ask for careful deliberation upon your actions. War should never be entered into lightly. There are other options. To that end, the Seaborne Confederation will establish a trade blockade against all Tzaltec Empire naval shipping. We encourage all those who oppose their actions to cease trade with the Empire and block their trade through your lands. We will welcome all ships who wish to join our blockade.

The Seaborne Confederation Congress

The expression of Paeon was sheepish and obscured by the mask. The sword and belt were checked carefully and then the proper bow shown to Mellado.
"Yes, the rainbows and peonies are very beautiful. I very much recommend you visit! Every summer we have a popular festival, called Midsummer Knight's Festival. You should visit at that time!" Then there was a sudden surprised reaction.
"Wait, just a minute."
"Did you say 'daughters'? You are a mother?" Paeon asked, the surprise cannot be hidden by a mask.

"Yes! I have two daughters, Maevys and Alynda. They are still very young, so they are with their Father now, I will have to take them to a Festival someday!" Mellado grinned at the Knight's surprise, it was important to her to set a good example for her daughters, though her and Areta differed greatly on what constituted a good example.
"Tell me Paeon, is this your first Games?"

The Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities & The Great Sharixian Republic

The Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities & The Great Sharixian Republic

The Queen smiles politely, her head still uncovered. "I am Lacantha Angifer," she replies, slightly bowing her head. "Queen of the Sharix. This-" she gestures to her father. "This is my father, Tharixeen Angifer." The king bows his own head. "It has taken us both too long to make formal contact with the other. We both believe in the merits of democracy, and so I think that should make us friends."

"Quite," the King-Father adds. "I would have done so myself at the previous Tellurian Games, but it was our first time amongst so many other nations. I became preoccupied with making sure we knew them all — and were making amends to those we had offended in the past."

"Perhaps we could conduct a more formal negotiation of official friendliness between our two republics? I'm sure the Prime Minister would like to make time for such a stalwart nation as yours."

"I think that I know several people in the Regnum whom would be interested in these... particularly this. This is... a type of metal, yes?"

T'chep held up the Anju'Tellurium.

Theta had expected this, as during the trip here she had several meetings with an 'engineer?' on the airship. He had be absolutely fascinated by the small lump they had gifted the UJR. She could never get used to how surface dwellers felt about metals.

"Ah, that has been the focus of our trades it seems. I am told it is a lot like Iron? But having never seen much of that metal myself I cannot say for sure. Something I have found odd is that people speak of iron turning to dust or 'rust?' in water. I hardly think that makes it anything like our Anju'Tellurium as it never turns to dust and always holds it shape once worked in the heat vents."

She gave him time to study the metal, but produced the map that had launched their people into the world.

"I am told this paper comes from your Regnum? We would be interested in using this for our public school system, but the trade boats have far to little for our needs. Perhaps we can make a deal?"

"You do not joust from horseback?" He shrugged slightly. "My people also have a love for exotic mounts, though we tend to learn our trade on horses. I must apologise, though; I did not introduce myself. I am Rayne, son of Lord Sempronis from Discordia. Our people are also lovers of the joust."

Mellado looked a bit doubtful of that herself, though she was determined to try her best and not get maimed in the process.
"Cheating?" Alfrett twirled his sword in thought. "I daresay the Huroshans would argue it is merely using every available advantage, and if that happens to make you so superior to your opponent that the fight becomes one-sided, that is simply a measure of your own Prowess. There is a school of thought that a 'fair fight' as we think of it does not exist: that the rules of fair combat are designed to play to the advantages of the strong and the powerful, that they are themselves unfair against those less strong or less skilled, that it is therefore no less fair for such people to take whatever opportunieis they have to play to their advantages. But that seems rather dishonourable. I prefer to look my opponents in the eye when I fight them."

He waved a hand out at the arena. "But in any case, it does not seem entirely in the spirit of the event. My cousin of Scowen could doubtless slay any of these duellists on his own terms, while they sleep, but that would make for a poor spectacle. There are creatures in this world who could devour this Menhirin whole, his prowess notwithstanding. Yet they do not enter, even if they are entitled to do so, and the Games are the better for it. I suppose one could ask where the line should be drawn..." He looked frustrated all the same. "I think perhaps where it becomes self-evidently ridiculous."

Arts Contest

Reviving an old tradition, the Sobridan arts entry was a vocal one, rather than a static piece of art. Princess Ameryn took to the stage with a quartet of musicians carrying fiddles and viols. They struck up a tune, announced as the Lament of Queen Aela, an aria from a new performance piece about the Cataclysm. Ameryn sung the mournful tune with all the soul she could manage, its haunting melody lingering after the final notes died. As the piece ended, though, she looked rather pleased finally to be allowed to be the centre of attention for a while.

Closing out a few things:

Arts Contest: Fire dancing to traditional sea songs. Well received, but nothing spectacular.

Kina: During the festival, the Eldest CHild of Kina holds a ceremony to bless and honor the combatants. During his sermon, he exhorts them to follow their consicence, even if it leads to violent ends. Clarity of purpose is the true way to enlightenment. Many listening hear this as a call to arms to free Queen Lorisanth and to punish the Tzaltec for the mis-deeds of their rulers.

For all that the Ferans didn't do much in the way of architecture, the structures they did build were certainly impressive. And they were excellent hosts, the Grand Prince mused, waving for a few chairs to be brought over to the table. Zoran would have been perfectly fine conducting this conversation while standing, but chairs were provided and so it would be only polite to put them to use.
With the chairs having been brought over by his guards who then took positions outside, Zoran took a seat about halfway along one side of the table. Brankica sitting on his left and Leni assuming a position by his right shoulder. The Grand Prince dismissed his other advisors with a hand gesture, and they too left.

"Forgive the presumption if I'm incorrect, but I assume that you wish to speak of the events that occurred in Niskovia five years previously?" Zoran asked.

Resting hands on hips there was a sigh.
"However, I didn't think it would be this difficult to compete in so many events! It has been a very bewildering experience!"
Realizing something important was accidentally said, Paeon covered mouth and waved hands in petition.
"Ah, I shouldn't have said it. Please forget that! There are many strong fighters here, so a moment of weakness cannot be allowed. Truthfully, it is my dream to someday become Grandmaster, so I have to fight hard in this challenge. Always meeting the charge with a forward motion, that is chivalry!" Paeon said with exaggerated motion.
Such was the youthful naive and chivalric atmosphere of the Free Knight.
"I hope to have a good fight together!" The offered hand and salute with a tired and positive optimism.

The polite bowing is returned properly by the masked Free Knight named Paeon.
"Ah, it is nice to find the polite words complementary of our country!" Paeon said with youthful pride and gratitude. "Although our countries do not have a lot of experience together, I hope we can become friends." Paeon seemed to remember something important and atmosphere became embarrassed.

"I am embarrassed to say that my representation of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities may seem like temerity. I would like to extend the hospitality of my city of Verbena to host your graces. I am sure an official meeting with the government can be properly arranged. Unfortunately I am competing in many events, so it will be a little difficult to have a long discussion during this short games time!"
Also the government would be very unhappy with individualistically deciding foreign policy! Is the thought with sweat.
"I-If you would like, I will make such an arrangement on return to Verbena." It is the offer of the free knight of peony fragrance.

Paeon's blush can be seen beneath mask.
"I am sorry to disappoint! We have very few horses in the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities. Usually they are targets for monsters of Fernbrake, so it requires a lot of skill and training. However, it depends on the city, too. A rich city like Uran can have more horses.
I am from Verbena, and we only have been recovering from the Zuiguo War for sometime. Horses are very rare. However, we are Free Knights. Therefore we can fight in any environment or situation! On a horse or on foot, always meeting the charge with a forward motion, that is chivalry!" With the fist thrown forward, it emphasizes the optimistic passion of Paeon.
"Still, I hope to afford my own horse soon. Someday I would like to ride a Pegasus, maybe." With this sort of idle wish, probably it can be inferred that Paeon isn't fundamentally a Free Knight.

Speaking of jousts, there is a small fidget and slump of pride.
"Unfortunately, I have never jousted in an official tournament! Only having finished school recently, I have worked very hard to come to this games. It's a joy to meet many wonderful international knights like you. I am looking forward to joust together, Sir Rayne." With the offered handshake, it can be realized that Paeon's mask is to hide the identity and gender of the young woman. Her starry expression can't hide infatuation behind a mask.

The UJR were busy at the Games, seeking out many delegations - including that of the host - for trade. Their teams were busy too, and the Seaborne Regatta - where the UJR team overtook the second Carmine team on the final stretch - was a nail-biter for the watchers. In the end, the Union team only managed to secure second place, yet they were more than content with that. Carmine's naval architects had in recent years overshadowed those of Qarimos and Genivana, but that those places could still hold a competent second was something to be proud of.

Yet their Arts pieces was the one they were in many ways more proud of, a perfection of the Singing Illuminations techniques pioneered over a decade ago, now paired with a true Illuminator. The result was quite spectacular. The songs, and the artists, changed throughout the Games, but the themes remained. Peace, unity, and a vivid memory of the costs of war. In many ways a question, to the state absent from the Games. Had it been worth it?

Sanell, turning around, smiled a genuine smile.

"Thanks you, Aglus Thuidans Leikeis Kaiser. I certainly hope that it will not be our last, no. The lands of Fera have a mysterious beauty about them. I am quite intrigued. And your people are as wise as the lands are mysterious. But I digress. Are you enjoying the festivities set in your lands, Kaiser of Fera?"

Feran Camp

"You are so kind." Aglus Thuidans supresses a wince as memories of fire flash as the Faedas Speaker says his piece. Aglus attempted a close lipped smile, as he knew the dual rows of pointy Haljan teeth usually disturbed foreigners. "Thus far, though I wish it were possible to continue the revelry during the night rather than the day when we would ordinarily be awake. I look forward to watching the first international tournament of Feran Steinar on Feran soil. I hear foreigners have unusual and aggressive tactics and am eager to see for myself though I am unable to participate personally."

Aglus seemed calm once more, though he seemed exhausted.

"Was it the hair that gave it away?" Mellado grinned widely and patted her foliage-like hair that she had swept up in a bun. In truth, the tall, slender Spriggans were highly unlikely to be mistaken for anything else.
"It is an honor to meet you, I am indeed the duelist from the Kingdom of the Isles, Princess Mellado, Master of the Sea Serpent Prowess style. I would say Prowess is more the Mastery of a technique than cheating, though I'd dare to say Alfrett here doubts whether being outrageously bigger, stronger and faster than your opponents can truly be considered a technique." Mellado looked a bit doubtful of that herself, though she was determined to try her best and not get maimed in the process.

The Duels
"Uh n-" Ylo saw Mellado's grin, "Ah, yes. I am Ylo of Vythau, Fera." Ylo puffed out his chest. Thoughtfully he replied, "Mastery of a technique is very different to cheating, but if I had hopes of defeating Griend I need to use techniques we'd use to fight Vefna- err, Tangleweave Spiders. They are very different to the technique Ahma Haiftsjan Berjast." Ylo moved his spines a little and flexed his claws, "You have no choice but to try to use lethal force with them. Sure, some insane as Vahl Haljans have made friends with the spiders on occasion but many more have died trying..."

Ylo shrugged at Alfrett, "Thing is, a 'fair fight' is to be a contest of skill and strength which people have worked for. You can probably be stronger than me with the same training, since you're human and bigger, so in a tournament where it's to be fair for humans nobody sees an issue with me competing. I hold my own, of course." Ylo grins wildly, "It's striking a balance between people having an obvious natural advantage and letting people use what they have. But as you say, it's a spek-tak-yl! When you know who will win, it's too boring. I think that's why such fantastical creatures can participate and more powerful ones don't."

((OOC Note - IMPORTANT - This meeting is private, so please do not use anything from it IC. Thank you.))

As Fauratan lit the rest of the torches it became obvious the wall was actually two walls, one solid and one with ornate shapes and patterns cut out of it. Seeing that the Grand Prince had chosen to seat others with him, Fauratan called for his mates in Haljan. Three Griuhna Haljans walked into the room; one heavily armed and armoured Zirndar Haljan, one slightly smaller Waurstja Haljan in a suit and an ornately robed Vitur Haljan. For those familiar with the subtle dynamics between the four it will become obvious they are unusually close for such a group of Haljans. "Comfortable? We would prefer to stand." Fauratan inquires. Though he seemed relaxed, his tail was poised and his pincers were raised and slightly open. "I... Events that occurred in the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia should be spoken of though it would be best if the Kaiser were present if you have any new information for us. Dispatching the Spaiha is surely no issue if the assassinations are yet a mystery. I hope you don't mind if I dispose of formalities; I was always terrible at it. Faedas Freeholds comes to the Games with grave news..."

Fauratan looks to the Zirndar Haljan who recites Edward's speech word for word while the Waurstja Haljan unrolls two pieces of parchment and begins to copy from one to the other. After the Grand Prince had had time to digest the speech, Fauratan tapped his Scythe on the floor once and reached for his flask, "A certain vassal to the Tzaltec Empire has strong familial ties with the Nisakoviches. Yes, there are more noble families who could rule on behalf of the Niskans if the rest of the Nisakoviches died, but there has been a Nisakovich sovereign for more than a century and who knows what Vahl the world would believe should a certain vassal to the Tzaltec Empire attempt..." Fauratan's voice never changed, but his stance betrayed his anger even to those unfamiliar with Haljans. "I don't really want to think they'd do it, but they seemed to desire power at any cost in the past."
